I’m American, and all jokes aside, I love it! To me America and Canada are two drunk bar buddies, we talk crap about each other for fun but always end up hammered, back to back, swinging for each other.

badlands250 Actually the term Canucks became popularized in the 70's and 80's with the "Crazy Canucks". Look them up and learn a bit about Canada. You must be younger. And I don't mind the term, in fact I embrace it. I refer to myself as a Crazy Canuck sometimes. Just because the Vancouver Cannots suck doesn't mean all "Canucks" do. But the term actually goes back before the Hockey team was in existence.

In fact, like America's "Uncle Sam", Canada's "Johnny Canuck" served as a national representation particularly during WWII. So, please, call us Canucks. I wear the badge proudly.

Drinking age for beer in Germany: 16 I gotta say, I really miss Canada. Been back in Germany since 2011. I had the best time there. I hope that one day, I can come back and become a naturalized Canadian citizen. I just LOVE Canadian nature. We got nature in Germany too, but it just isn't the same riding on country roads here. I loved riding relaxed along highway 17, and the road would not end. This doesn't exist in Germany. The only good thing in Germany is the Autobahn. But driving here is more hectic, even though its statistically much safer. One day, I will be back.

@Paige Van Beek As a Canadian, can confirm. Other differences: 7) Not all of us say "ah-boot" when saying "about" HOWEVER it is quite common in a softer accent like "ah-butt" or "ah-b-ow-t". The O's are elongated (like, "t-oar" or "t-ore" instead of "two-rr" when saying "tour") idk it's weird and I didn't notice 'til some American's on VR Chat pointed it out to me and I couldn't say "tour" like them ("two-er" is so hard to say) 8) Another accent one, some actually have a bit more of a faintly generalised European accent because variety but actually use slang that sounds American (like, faintly sounding Scottish or English with an "American twist" [Canadian] but saying "ya'll", "howdy", etc.) 9) Can and will hate on and joke about our own country, but will immediately and proudly show patriotism if America is mentioned (seriously, talk shit about the country and various provinces all you want but say America is better than Canada and you WILL have a fight on your hands) 10) If you find a born and raised Albertan (like myself), ask them about rats. Seriously. I have asked around and most teenagers either have zero idea that rats actually exist, that they can be found everywhere in the world, that they are much bigger than mice, and/or that the reason they have never seen a rat (inside of Alberta) is because they are illegal both as pets and as wildlife and will be removed/killed as necessary to keep them out. 11) Every single food item and stuff requiring labels like that has to have the label in both English AND French. Anglophone's don't really notice just how much French can be picked up that way over time until we only see a product in the grocery store only turned to the French side and still know what it is without even looking at the pictures. 12) We have slang like - "double-double" (coffee with two cream & two sugar, usually from Tim Horton's [our Dunkin Donuts]) - "toque" ("too-kh", a beanie or knitted winter hat) - "loonie" (one dollar coin) - "toonie" (two dollar coin) - "two-six" (26-ounce/750ml of alcohol) - "mickey" (375ml of alcohol) - "grad" (prom, graduation) - "give'er" ("give her your all", "just do it") - "Texas mickey" (3 litres of alcohol) 13) We have completely legalised weed. No need for doctor's permission or anything. Just go into a dispensary and buy it just like you would alcohol from a liquor store. They're government cleared so there's no lacing of the products and the packaging is super child-proofed to the point where you can't get into an edible package if you don't know how they work in the first place (lmao happened to me many times before). Most province's have the legal age of 19 to drink alcohol and smoke weed except for Alberta, which is 18 for both drinking and smoking weed (I don't know much of the exact ages for certain outside Alberta so I don't know if there are any province's where weed is actually 21 because physical maturity of the brain) 14) That stereotypical "Canadian accent" that is super popular is actually not just one accent. There are variations all over Canada. The strongest and most used/known is the one typically found in a bit of Manitoba and some of Ontario. The second is a bit more of a Northern BC (often heard around Banff) and is a bit higher-pitched and light than the first but just as strong. The various others commonly heard are scattered throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta, and higher up north towards Northwest Territories and Yukon. HOWEVER there is one super thick accent that is made fun of often and that would be the Newfies. Newfoundland and the coast over there all have INSANELY different accents.

Hello, Canuck here!!! I do tech support over the phone for Canadian and American customers. Americans always ask which State I’m in, where as Canadians tend to ask where I’m from. Course it doesn’t help that the name of my province is also the name of a city in California. But it’s always a little humorous to hear Americans back peddle and usually dig themselves back in with “you don’t sound Canadian. You say ‘about’, not ‘aboot’.” So thankful to Southpark for that stereotype 🤦‍♀️ At least it’s better than in the 90’s, when I got told that I could not be Canadian, I had to be American because (and I quote) “you can’t have electricity in igloos.” I followed up with “you’re right. I’m currently in California visiting relatives but I am Canadian. I swim with Penguins, I partake in parkour to avoid polar bears after sundown, my diet consists entirely of blubber, and I drive a dogsled to school every morning. Their names are Eenie, Meanie, Miney, and Moe.” The guy actually believed me until someone else in the chatroom added “oh god. I laughed so hard I fell off my chair and puked.” The guy who insisted that I was American still didn’t realize that entire statement was drenched in sarcasm.

For those nit-picking about the accent and the music being American: the American Appalachians and most of English Canada were settled by the Scots-Irish, who brought their music and speech patterns with them. It has changed over the years in a number of provinces. When I was a kid it was 21, then it changed to 18, then changed once again and now its 19...in some provinces it's still 18. Point is...it isn't 21 like in the US.

The only other game in Canada is Basketball though, with The TORONTO RAPTORS, they won a championship this 2018-2019 season.

I live in Newhampshire, so I have tried Canadian maple syrup before and you weren't kidding when you said it's the best syrup in the world 😍

Timmy's reigns supreme in Buffalo and we painted our old grain elevators like a huge Labatt Blue six pack. Blue is extremely popular in Buffalo and Dunkin closed a bunch of locations a few years back. The Bills are probably a bigger deal here, but the Sabres are definitely a big deal. Definitely some Canadian influence in Buffalo, always in a good way. Great song, glad I found Tim Hick's on Spotify. Guessing he doesn't get any airplay on WYRK, but then I don't listen to the radio much anyways.
