TikTok's "Amazon Must-Haves" Are Ridiculous

I think what makes me the angriest about these videos is you KNOW for a FACT they were only bought for content, and not because they actually NEEDED any of these items. They just wanted their viral moment, then they throw whatever they bought away, or they never use it again; leaving it to collect dust for years...

I’m disabled, and I must say, some of these items would help me in my day to day life. HOWEVER, some of these items (like that Stanley cup bowl thing???) I genuinely cannot think of anyone that would help in a meaningful way. Absolutely is consumerism at its finest.

And if your battery dies, the reason it takes so long to charge it to full is because the capacitor needs to retain SOME energy to start charging quickly. If it's dead, you need an extra 10-15 minutes to "prep" the battery so it can take a full charge. I bet most people have never read their owners manuals. Sometimes, the brand says "never let the battery deplete completely as it can shorten the lifespan."

I was going to comment this. These people are trying to find identity by shopping. To them the "aesthetics" of a hobby or personality holds the same weight as actually engaging in those things, because social validation online is more instantaneous and rewarding than IRL. You tack on the dopamine high of online shopping and you've got a monster. Humans have always done it, however, this is on a different level both in the volume of excess consumption and changing trends, as well as the target markets.

I agree, I have multiple chronic illnesses and disabilities and use Switchbots on some of my light switches (basically the ones for the lights that I can’t replace with a WiFi bulb). They help tremendously as I can switch lights on and off from my bed when unwell or if I forgot to turn a light off in another room I don’t have to put myself through the extreme pain or waste any of my limited energy that it would take to get back up and go turn it off manually. I also have the switchbot hub that can be programmed to mimic infrared remotes like for tv, stereo fans etc and control everything from the phone app and connect everything to Alexa; I can also have lights go on and off at specific times (useful if I am away and want it to look like someone could be home for security purposes) I also have the outside lights set so that they come on when motion is detected in the corresponding security camera essentially making them function as security lights, but also meaning that if I come home in the dark my front like comes on automatically so I can see to unlock my door. Switchbots are fantastic tools, I’m sad to see so many people deriding them as they’re amazing for those of us with disabilities but they can also have uses for able bodied people too. Frankly I think we need to stop calling people lazy for wanting to use tools to make their lives easier, life’s difficult enough

I strongly suspected that was the intended purpose of the printer. It also looks like it would be used for making promotional items for big events. Example: a big name brand needs to host a media gathering so they use that to print their name/ logo on napkins and coffee cups. It's all about exposure and publicity.

I agree with most of these. However, from the perspective of a disabled person, two of the things you mentioned fall under adaptable equipment for disabled people. The blinds that close automatically and the door that automatically closes can really help those of us who are in wheelchairs or lack fine motor skills to be able to do those things. And I actually sometimes watch those things to help find things that could help make living easier for me. I'm not saying that it's bad that that wasn't considered a lot of people don't consider those things, but there are a lot of things that people don't think of that could be extremely helpful to disabled people to help them have some Independence and help our quality of life that other people who are able to body would considered completely useless, although ironically a lot of them are out of our price range. But yeah I agree a lot of these make no sense.

I vastly prefer wired earbuds too, BUT unfortunately it's increasingly difficult to actually get a phone that has an auxiliary port for them. I just had to replace my old phone earlier this week & through my phone carrier there was not a single phone model whatsoever in my price range that wasn't Bluetooth *ONLY*. Which was extra frustrating because my car stereo, which is what I typically route things like Google Map spoken directions or hands-free phone conversation through (in my state it's illegal to drive with headphones/earbuds as your hands free device because they can block outside noise like a capital horn or siren), *isn't* Bluetooth capable so now I *ALSO* need to get a Bluetooth adapter that plugs into my car radio's auxiliary jack.

Okay, life hack for the hair clogging the drain problem. Just buy a metal sink strainer/hair catcher for when you shower, place it over the plug hole and voila. It also works if you shave in the bath, just stick it on there when draining. I've done this for years and the loose hair just gets stuck ontop the strainer, I can lift it out and tip the stuff into the bin. No more having to dig it out of the drain. The automatic curtains though, they actually might be something to keep in mind for when my parents get older and can't lift the pole properly to close their living room curtains.

Those no word books are killing me, why??? You can easily go to any Goodwill and find really nice hardcover books that you can make a theme out of, so like getting Stephen King novels and using those as your coffee table books or finding some classic titles and using those. There is so many options at a thrift store and maybe a couple bucks for each book.

okay, hear me out the airpod straps would actually make my life so much better first and foremost, I kill earphones in a month and idk how but like the cable ALWAYS just breaks now, like a month ago I got myself earbuds but I'm incredibly scared of losing one (almost lost one half like yesterday) so having a Bluetooth device, so can't break the cable, but it still being connected to my phone via some sort of thread would be earbud saver

The funny thing is, I would actually get those blank books for the purpose that they sell them. Then, I would cut into them to make them hiding places for valuables. The top book would be completely blank, as would random others. No one would think that valuables were hidden in some of the books.

I roll my chip bags up the same way you do, I never remember to buy chip clips so I do use rubber bands but not like you're banding a ponytail. You just slide it over the rolled bag so it doesn't unroll. Maybe double loop it if it's not tight enough. even the thin ones from your veggies work just fine.

The empty books with the destination titles I would totally get as travel journals if I traveled. I got an immediate vision of filling the pages with jour6and pictures for each day during the vacation and using photo some kind of Instax sticker photos and all the ticket stubs and receipts and hotel stationary from the trip. Then you can just keep adding to it every year! But I don't travel so that's a moot point lol!
