As someone who wore hot roller styled hair for years, never brush with a brush after you take it down. Take it down and let it sit still a few minutes. Then either use a very wide tooth comb like a dye comb or a wide tooth pick. Also, if you want more volume, turn your head upside down and spray the roots first. Work your hair spray one section at a time. Don't just spray all over on the top.

  • @lisagallegos1685

I have been using hot rollers for 45 years. It was a major part of the disco look. I have fine hair and must use them for any kind of volume. I'm glad to see they're finally getting recognized. One thing that we always use with hot rollers is gel. We used Dippity-Do back then. Then the spray gels came out. Either will work but this is essential for the rollers to stay in place and to be able to keep the hair on the roller. Leave in until cool. Use a lot of hair spray to keep the style in place. Do not touch your hair once sprayed for the entire day. I use Conair Big Curls. There is no blowout or any curling tool that can match the look of rollers. I can't live without them. Thanks for the video and your hair looks good brown.

Just came here to say for people with curly hair that your hair doesn't need to be straightened for this to work! All you need to do is detangle to the point where you can run your fingers through when dry, then keep enough tension on the hair when rolling it that it wraps smoothly around the roller. I sometimes run my finger over the roller to smooth it down as I roll. You'll definitely need to use more sections than someone with straight hair so you can get those pieces smooth around the roller so be prepared for that!

Me who used normal rollers (just round plastic lol) for over two years, the upgrade to heat rollers was a whole game changer. Instead of leaving them in overnight for the style to actually last a day, it just has to be in for like 15min. But it did need a bit practise to get the hang of using them without burning yoursellf. But for everyone thinking about buying these, do it.

I only very straight hair and I only ever had good results with Conair hot sticks. They were roughly the temperature of the surface of the sun, tiny in diameter, and I had to have 2 sets so I could take really tiny sections. It took forever though. I only did it for formal occasions or when I was in plays. Had to do tons of product before putting the curlers in and very little after.

This is why I prefer normal rollers i.e. the ones you use on damp hair. It still takes 80 years to put them in, but no more burns, and the curls last until I wash my hair again. I couldn't ever figure out sleeping with them in, though, so I got a cheap hooded dryer and now I just dry them while I have breakfast and do my emails.

I've been using them for 20 years. Conair ones work really great and reheat quickly when you need to use more than what's in the thing. Brad is a pro at this, but but but! You can still get a great look with them without all the pro sectioning and blow drying first. Hot rollers are for when I want a lazy day and not blow dry cause mine smooth my hair out. These are also great for when you want a fancy pony. The day I met Anne Rice , I used them and I'll never get a better compliment than her telling me my hair was beautiful. ❤❤

I have hair down to my waist so any curls from heat tend to just fall out in a couple hours from the weight. Hot rollers do last longer than an iron, but I still preffer to use foam rollers on damp hair. I can do it at night and then wake up with very curly hair. I can also walk around with a bunch of foam rollers under a scarf and feel like a midcentury housewife.

I remember back in the early 2000’s I had one of those cute little shoulder length flippy hairstyles with curtain bangs that were super popular then. I was in 7th grade and was having a disaster of a hair day. One side was flipping out, the other in, and a curling iron wasn’t cutting it. My mom said “I know how to fix that”, pulled out her hot rollers from the 80’s and put them all over my head. She had me sit there for like 15 minutes, took the rollers out, brushed it out, spritzed it with hairspray, and it was incredible! It turned out fantastic! (Btw, this was during the “flip out” era of hair curling. I look back on it now and think it makes everyone look like Whos from The Grinch.)

I’ve tried hot rollers many times. The only time I’ve gotten them to work is when I had an undercut with 1/3 of my hair was shaved off. I have too much hair. Even when it’s short with all my hair, they just don’t work. I have to take sections that were so small I didn’t have enough space on my head for all the rollers. I can get a better look that lasts longer with a curling iron.

The fact that Brad looks authentic with EACH&EVERY haircolor he slaps on his head indicates that he has a stable-enough personality to carry out anything. 30seconds in and you don't even double-take, you just go along with him and his new look. I have used hot rollers since a teen. No time in the morning. on air dried with styling cream and hair oil or second third day dry hair use a instant heat travel set that has 5 rollers. Takes 2 minutes to put all my hair on these rollers then I finish bangs and ends with flat iron. My pic done this way. It’s sooooo much faster in the morning than doing small sections with a flat iron or curling iron, Lasts 2 days. No hair damage. Another great video Brad!
