I don't think he was in love with her like at all. He loved her dearly and they had an incredible friendship. She dated his best friend Eddie Murphy and through that relationship their friendship blossomed

Not only with her voice. Her sweet witty and genuine personality and amazing smile can light up the darkest times.

Arsenio & Whitney were always close friends who shared many laughs. They had so much love & support for each others careers.

They had so much love for each other.

I love how she changes her face to Whitney when she starts telling the story! Ms. Houston had a personality and a half, I miss her!

Arsenio and her were good friends. I got choked up too.

Totally agree. I remember him saying that she would keep coming on his show without having been asked through negotiations to help his show because she had so much love for him. They really had a great interaction. Still makes me sad that she couldn't overcome her heartaches of the industry trying to make her into something she wasn't. At least she's resting now with her baby girl.

Awww 😊, People don’t realize.... Arsenio put a lot of artists on the map while still keeping it true to the black community.... He says the reason he was able to meet Whitney was because of her father, & from there the friendship blooms..... this was a very touching interview. I truly Miss the Arsenio Hall Show, & truly Miss Whitney May she R.I.P

totally agree....I think of her too all the time.

If you weren't born or too young to remember but during Arsenio's original show Whitney supported him sooo much and would make these random drop throughs to surprise him, their real-life friendship was so evident by the way he would joke with her about things (like her then relationship with Eddie Murphy) that only a true friend could.

Yes! She was on his show so many times! Whether it was interviewing/performing or just simply dropping and telling him that she was proud of him. She was a gift to this world.

His tears moved me too. And I really believe Arsenio Hall loved her, as well as having great admiration for her. I could always see it in his eyes when he smiled at her and when she was around.. Hmmm, and maybe a little crush on her too. 😉😓❤️

I feel Arsenio sooo much!! Sometimes I’ll be listening to a song, it doesn’t even have to be one of her songs and my eyes just fill with tears. I’ll be looking at the sky, think of her and tears start filling my eyes. It’s been 8 years and I still can’t talk about her or think of her without tears filling my eyes most times 😢💔 love you forever aunty Whitney!!! 🕊💜

Its so funny when Tika mentions that thing about Whitney's songs coming on the radio - that happens ALL THE TIME for me. This is a really weird example, but I remember for a college project I needed AAAA batteries. I couldnt find them anywhere in the Rite Aid and was getting really desperate. I basically fell to my knees in defeat and was like, "If there's anyone out there listening, please just let me find these batteries." And then lo and behold, Dance With Somebody comes on, and IMMEDIATELY there's the last two packs of AAAAs which I couldve sworn werent there before.

That's beautiful. Whitney Houston was his buddy, you could just feel it. I remember all her appearances on his show and the camaraderie was so visible. They would get such a kick out of each other.

She would’ve been s great person to play Whitney ❤️👏🏾

Everybody blame Bobby but I blame Eddie Murphy. Here’s why… if she had never gotten into a fling with Eddie Murphy, she would not have gotten hurt by him. Whitney really fell for Eddie and he dogged her out, bad! Arsenio was a true friend to Eddie because he was the one who truly cared for and had that relationship with Whitney that neither Eddie nor Bobby had with her, but yet it seems his love for her was the purist. Arsenio being Eddie’s friend; could not make a move on Whitney. Whitney wanted more; as much as she threw herself at Eddie, it did not work in her favor and that hurt her to the core. Unfortunately this is when things started to spiraled out of control, she meets Bobby soon after realizing “Eddie don’t want me as much as I want him.” Arsenio was in the middle of it all, trying to be a friend to Eddie, in love with Whitney and before he could make his move at a respectful time, Bobby was there and he basically treated her the same way Eddie did.

I didn't know him and Whitney was that close, they always showed him and Eddie close but his friendship with Whitney,he would have been a great couple!
