Tigran Petrosian's Top 5 Exchange Sacrifices
Ойындар
Join @GingerGM as he breaks down the top five exchange sacrifices of Tigran Petrosian!
Tigran Petrosian was the ninth world chess champion (1963-1969). He was known as "Iron Tigran", because of his seemingly impenetrable defensive prowess-he did not lose a single tournament game in 1962. He focused on safety and prophylactic play, and would happily wait for his chance to pounce at any mistake. Petrosian was also known for his iron logic and clear vision, which enabled him to create very solid and harmonious positions that were rich in possibilities.

This is the best chess series of all, Simon ... great work !!!
Tigran V. Petrosian has been reincarnated (in a sense) in the super-chess-engine Lc0, which has a unique style that it has developed through its iterative self-learning algorithm. It uses posted knights to achieve positional mastery, sacrificing a pawn or the exchange in order to establish its post.
I remember going over Petrosian's games. What a positional wizard!
This was really lovely, thank you for this !!!
I've watched a lot of these top 5 videos and this one amazed me the most. A position exchange sacrifice is so satisfying. You can only watch a guy like Tal sac his queen so many times lol
Yay! Simon is back
Great content. Ive never seen this theme before. Thank you.
You should do “W”esley “S”o next
Petrosian proves that bishop is worth more than a rook.
Thank you for great content

Check out Petrosian's tenth game against Spassky in the 1966 World Chess Championship. Beautiful exchange sacrifices.
Was really waiting for Simon Sir's video
The last one gave me an inspiration.
the mic has problem
What of the sacrifice vs. Spassky (Torre Attack, WCC 1966)?
Excelente
Legendary player
Petrosian vs Fischer (1971) 0-1 Gruenfeld is also a great game where Petrosian wins with positional pawn moves and an exchange sacrifice for those who can't get enough of petrosian
The King of Positional chess
Petrosian's opponent anytime he makes a blunder 🤔😳
Sometimes to win games is not only to crush your opponent, but to strangle them positionally.
He was simply unstoppable; After him, all the blitz games, all the Olympics and double championships remained. Only the Politburo stopped him and forced him to resign in 1969. Therefore, Petrosyan never fully revealed his talent.
what was the result of example 3? Was example 3 tal vs petrosian a draw?
1:42 what about Be4? That blocks the rook, right?
I was subcribe this chanel.from indonesia
he was the best defense player that lived
What was the result of the game v Tal? Another draw?
*_PIPI_*
go tigran
Bless me ! I just resigned from an winning position!
where is the one against spassky in world championship 1966?

He certainly was the 'Iron'. Impregnable defence.
Wondering if SW is a Depeche Mode fan. Can anyone spot the DM lyrics he unwittingly quoted?
Great video but very bad sound. Can hear him talk but it is very low and sort of static.
Nigel short: women can’t play chess Judit Polgar: Qg5!!
4 games shown here are with black, didnt realise when i first saw the video how tough black's life is over the chess board
Please upgrade your mic Simon.
1:16 i would, then next turn take with the horse and mated in 4 turns
Great work as always, bit I am a little bit surprised that the famous 30... Rc4! from the 11th game of the World Championship match against Spassky in 1969 didn't make it to the Top 5.
What happened to Ginger's voice?
The title says exchange sacrifices so it is easier.

No. That is a player nowadays with the same name, not our World Champion from the 1960s before computers were even ok at chess.
Petrosian was sacrificing exchanges while i was struggling to find the only legal exchange sacrifice in the first example
Simon, I’m shocked Game 10 from ‘66 World Championship vs Spassky didn’t make the top #5! Double exchange sac for diagonal control, plus the iconic Qh8+ at the end to go from material-down to material-up. Shocked, I say. It’s ok, I still like you 😊
