Tigran Petrosian destroys Dutch Stonewall in 23 moves
Featured is the chess game between 17-year-old Tigran Petrosian and a soon to be 15-year-old Victor Korchnoi from the 1946 URS U18 Championship. In response to Korchnoi’s Dutch Stonewall, the future 9th World Chess Champion exchanges his dark-squared bishop via a3, and then positions both knights where they observe Korchnoi’s weakest square, e5. Tigran Petrosian’s purely positional play in this one ends the game after only 23 moves.

Typical Petrosian, famtastic manouvering and then its over. Thanks Jerry
even as a teenager Petrosian was putting people in a vise with strong positional play, amazing

Tigran games are great to watch. Thanks Jerry.
Love that you’re digging into Petrosian games lately. I remember one of the games in Python Strategy he executes like a 6 move combo to secure an outpost. Totally changed my conception of chess.
Well done. Thanks for sharing. Very easy to follow along with all your different scenarios. Keep up the good work.

Nice crush of the stonewall. The e4 break was a real killer.
I felt strangled as black. This was an excellent maneuvering game.
Kid Korchnoi: I'm gonna stonewall you! Kid Petrosian: Aw, grow up.
He's a good study, for solid yet crushing play!
Thank you sir for these usefull analysis..it is always very interesting..
Great game, with great commentary and analysis.
There have been a handful of games you've covered where black plays the Dutch, and I think the Dutch ends up losing every time. I remember as a young kid, the Dutch Stonewall was one of the first openings I remember learning about, and I liked it so much because of how pretty it was. But it definitely seems to overall just be a fairly dubious plan. Young me would be devastated to learn this fact!
I have difficulty coming to terms with the reality that these two were, in fact, teenagers at one point.
Excellent game!
Good to see more of Tigran V Petrosian.. Petrosian vs Spassky world championship series pls
Petrosian is a underappreciated World Champion by far. He was also practically the first to really champion the exchange sacrifice - giving up a rook for a knight/bishop - to win the full point or to draw difficult positions where had he not made the exchange sac, he would have most likely not have held.
Hah, I've been hoping for a video on the Dutch. Might I suggest one on the Korchnoi attack, too?
Hi Jerry, good work bud

In the 20. Rfd8 variation (9:20), why Nf7 isn't a reply? Is a central knight more valuable than a rook in this position?
@debblez

Nf7 wins a rook, but Rf7 will quickly win the game
I think it's another good game to analyze 👌
Difference between Kirchnoi and Bobby Fischer. If Fischer was black I guarantee that bishop wouldn't just be staring down an empty diagonal wondering its purpose in life. Not to steal Petrosian's thunder here, because this was a beautiful game.
i love these videos, how can i find the game on lichess to evaluate cartain positions? is there any link ?

Hi Jerry.
7:44 "🎵🎶...you think this is defending ?? It's not...🎵🎶 white knight; it hops... 'cause i found a hella way to fuse it...with rock, shock rap with Doc...throw on 'Lose Yourself' and make'em loose it 🎵🎶"
At 7:07 isn't the queen trapped after Bf3 instead of Bxe4?

Would you consider showing a game where the Dutch defense wins? I think all the games you've shown with it have resulted in disaster, so I'm curious to see how white can fail

Eek, torturous game for black
Petrosian has positive balance against Bobby Fischer. 8 wins 4 losses. Korchnoi has 2-2 so 50% effectiveness. The best ratio is Taimanov with 7-0. Yup Fischer never won a game vs Taimanov
@michaelf8221
24 күн бұрын
You are mistaken. Fischer beat Taimanov 7 times in a row for their last games in 1970 and 71. But at some point earlier in their career, Taimanov had taken a game off Fischer. I don't know what stats you're looking at, but they're not correct...

@@michaelf8221 oops you are right. The scores are opposite ratio in favor of Fischer. I apologize I have misread the reddit source. So it turns out Fischer has worst score win-loss against Geller 3-5 and Tal 2-4
