Tigran Petrosian destroys Dutch Stonewall in 23 moves

Featured is the chess game between 17-year-old Tigran Petrosian and a soon to be 15-year-old Victor Korchnoi from the 1946 URS U18 Championship. In response to Korchnoi’s Dutch Stonewall, the future 9th World Chess Champion exchanges his dark-squared bishop via a3, and then positions both knights where they observe Korchnoi’s weakest square, e5. Tigran Petrosian’s purely positional play in this one ends the game after only 23 moves.

There have been a handful of games you've covered where black plays the Dutch, and I think the Dutch ends up losing every time. I remember as a young kid, the Dutch Stonewall was one of the first openings I remember learning about, and I liked it so much because of how pretty it was. But it definitely seems to overall just be a fairly dubious plan. Young me would be devastated to learn this fact!

Petrosian is a underappreciated World Champion by far. He was also practically the first to really champion the exchange sacrifice - giving up a rook for a knight/bishop - to win the full point or to draw difficult positions where had he not made the exchange sac, he would have most likely not have held.

In the 20. Rfd8 variation (9:20), why Nf7 isn't a reply? Is a central knight more valuable than a rook in this position?

Difference between Kirchnoi and Bobby Fischer. If Fischer was black I guarantee that bishop wouldn't just be staring down an empty diagonal wondering its purpose in life. Not to steal Petrosian's thunder here, because this was a beautiful game.

Petrosian has positive balance against Bobby Fischer. 8 wins 4 losses. Korchnoi has 2-2 so 50% effectiveness. The best ratio is Taimanov with 7-0. Yup Fischer never won a game vs Taimanov

You are mistaken. Fischer beat Taimanov 7 times in a row for their last games in 1970 and 71. But at some point earlier in their career, Taimanov had taken a game off Fischer. I don't know what stats you're looking at, but they're not correct...
