Hey there folks!
Here's a stripped down, acoustic version of Tightrope from the movie 'The Greatest Showman' arranged for guitar and ukulele.
We don't do a lot of movie soundtrack songs in our live show, so when we were asked to create this video as part of an anniversary surprise for our friends John and Paula Kilday last year, we chose not to put it out alongside our more regular acoustic stuff.
But it's been worming it's way around our brains ever since then, and so we thought the time was right to finally share it with you.
A small confession: neither of us has seen the movie, as we're generally not huge fans of musicals... although we said the same thing about Moulin Rouge when it came out, and then bawled like babies when we finally sat down to watch it... hahaha!
So we hope you enjoy this never-before-seen video from our vault, and thank you once again for supporting our humble channel. I have to admit that I haven't seen the movie either (and the same is true of Moulin Rouge too!) I blame my early upbringing - my Mother was a huge Rogers and Hammerstein fan, so I was scarred for life by all that unfeasible breaking out into song while doing the daily tasks, complete with choreographed dance moves! It isn't the music I object to, it was the acting! That said this is a beautiful song, and it works really well as a simplified acoustic number. Sophie's voice carries it wonderfully well, as always, and there is a gentle sensitivity to the playing. Very good stuff Matt and Sophie. I hope things are going well for you, as the lockdown gets easier.

Yeah we have the same gut response to musicals in general, although we do have quite the soft spot for South Park The Movie which, for all it's profanity, it pretty much a full-on, traditional musical.
