well i just found out that my exhaust manifold have 2 broken bolts on the driver side and i have to change the bolts and of course change the gasket but i'm going to put a better gasket so i don't have to do the job again. so let me ask you this it's best if i do both sides instead of just doing one side. the passenger side is good but i want to change the bolts to stainless bolts and change the gasket so i can be straight so please help me out

How much torque do you apple on the spring bolt, or as long as there is spaces in the spring you are good?

I discovered my squeaking noise coming from underneath is at this point. Sprayed some silicone grease on it and it went away. But returned days later since the heat from the exhaust pipe would dry that up of course. I've checked and the bolts are as tight as you can get them. Although I'm not hearing any exhaust leaks. Would replacing the exhaust ring solve the problem anyway?

I put it all together and have an exhaust leak out the bottom of the flange connection. I can't get the muffler and rear exhaust assembly to line up (they hang in kind of a "v"). They are suspended by those rubber exhaust supports. They seem fine, but maybe those need replacing? Also, the walker muffler looks like it needs weld nuts but I can't find any (the holes are WAY too big for the standard nuts that came with the spring bolts, and normal steel washers that fit the bolt size barely cover the holes and seem to be shouldering a lot of force...). Thoughts, anyone?

would you know of a non-welding (since I don't weld) muffler exhaust pipe combo for a 1976 cj7 jeep? (with 258 4.2l i6 AND an 85 cj7 exhaust manifold and intake manifold) Prefer the flow through muffler and is pre-cat. Thanks for your video! :)

You have to mount the donut gasket onto the male portion FIRST before bringing the mating female....or you will crush the gasket and there will be a gas leak.....The bolt is designed to be screwed on so much to allow for the length to compress a certain amount and flex when there is vibration from the engine and the road....but then ALWAYS maintains tensile compression on the donut gasket to ensure a close contact at all time....

For clarity....the shoulder of the bolt rides against the *exhaust manifold* flange ( the flange closer to the engine)...for this to work properly.....right? So the "hole" diameter of the other flange downstream..... the *exhaust piping* flange.... needs to be large enough for this bolt shoulder to pass through.....right?

Just add a washer between the small bolts to hold them in place, if both holes are big that the small nut wont even hold them
