Спорт

Prior to his Sunday Singles match against Abraham Ancer in the 2019 Presidents Cup, U.S. Team playing captain Tiger Woods warms up on the practice range next to Ancer at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Black Rock, Victoria, Australia.

It's the 2019 Presidents Cup and Tiger Woods is set to play as captain, only the second in tournament history. When the U.S. Team tees off against the International Team, Woods will lead a stellar group featuring Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas and others. Hoping to stand in the way of a U.S. victory are seasoned pros Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott, Louis Oosthuizen and more. The contest will unfold at Royal Melbourne Golf Club, home to the Presidents Cup in 2011 and 1998 when the Internationals claimed their only victory in the series.

    Opponent, 10 minute Warm Up - Tiger 30 minutes after a gym session already specifically with the goal of warming his body up. Also begins with his variety of shots in each of his 9 squares and then moves to the course in his mind, start hitting the right shots for the right holes (see him looking at notes in his pocket and course book with caddy)... master at work.

    I think Tiger is swinging the club as effortlessly and smoothly as I’ve ever seen him. It’s a different swing today no question. It’s not as violent and hard on his knees and back as he has a bit more lower body turn. But he clearly generates a tremendous amount of lag, maybe more than ever before, and seems to get his club head speed more from that than the torque of his upper body vs lower like he did before. But with this he seems to be able to control his ball flight as well as ever. He will definitely keep winning tournaments swinging like this.

  • @aaronsmith7946

    @aaronsmith7946

    4 жыл бұрын

    Actually, there is pretty much less lag than ever before. Do you even know what you're talking about? Are you even qualified to be assessing Tiger's golf swing? Is it from the "He's in Denial" Butch Harmon school of golf, because if so, speculate on. When you can get you, Johnny Miller and Brandel Chamblee to talk about all of the things you know nothing about. Orr...just shut up and don't comment on thinks you know nothing about. It's not asking that much!

    @@beckyhenkel7917 The internet, as I am sure you have noticed, has apparently made it much easier for people who want to pretend they know everything to actually try to pretend that they do. Apparently, it's much easier online to just jump out and start pretending to understand things one doesn't in thinking that if they are confident-sounding enough, people will buy it. And guess what? For the most part, they are right. People are just dumb. Of course, every situation is unique but I really don't get people who jump in to give opinions on topics when they don't really know what they are talking about. I think dumb people just wouldn't realize, if they were listening to a smart individual speak, whether the speaker was telling the truth or lying and that's where the problem comes in. Stupid people are like viruses because they will take something from a source and with an apparent handicap when it comes to comprehending whether something is true, something that may be true and requires more investigation or something that isn't true. Yet, regardless of this, they still take that thing they heard someone say and repeat it to others as fact. That is how misconceptions and conspiracy theories are fueled. I just think people need to be called out when they are putting out inaccurate information because it does more harm than people can realize sometimes.

    Peter I would agree Tiger makes it all more interesting and undoubtedly has made a phenomenal contribution. But I would not say he is the reason why everyone plays golf by any stretch of the imagination. There are many legends from which we draw inspiration. For me there are many.. Bobby Jones with a golf swing only a fraction faster than gravity, Rory.. my Uncle who introduced me to the game too!.. It is varied.

    I thought after watching Tiger at the Hero Challenge that he looked awfully awfully good. And he looks in great shape. Just watching this video it struck me how very focused he looked. I noticed that he continued the exact same tempo throughout the half hour of practice besides taking a moment or two to eat a sandwich. It was fascinating to watch. He didn't break his concentration to talk to other players, he took pretty much the exact same time to hit each and every shot. Whereas other players were looking around and taking different spaces of time between shots.

    There are so many golfers who wish they had played against Tiger in the 90s and 2000s. They are not ready for that beast. Back then Tiger was a hurricane to deal with. Crowd sizes and cheers alone would rattle them. Then you have a player shooting darts from the fairways at 200 yrds out. And anything under that had the potential to go in at anytime. He was focused and when for your throat if you didn’t shoot well. Now they see a more calm and fun tiger. Playful tiger more talkative to players and enjoying his kids.

    Just imagine if this kind of camera footage was available to watch Ben Hogan and Lee Trevino on the range. Gary Player said they were the best ball strikers he's ever seen. That's saying something.

    Interesting that Tiger is slightly stacking at address and throughout the golf swing. Looks like a fairly new change. 45/55 or 40/60. Perhaps an anti-left tweak.

    Lol, Tiger fans don't need to see the ball flight to tell if he hit a good shot. What he does with the club, his arms, his body and his facial expression after the shot is so telegraphic - even when practicing.
