I think his shaft flexes twice during the swing before he hits the ball. He can feel that and times it to the microsecond. I don't even know where my club head is. I just hope it hits the ball.
That slow motion shot was SICK!! The recoil of the ball is wild!!

That’s just on the range. Even if he were feeling pure on course, why wouldn’t he give himself the margin of error by taking a divot?
You don't rush rehab. Making the cut at Augusta should silence many. Great performance goal.

They’ve done a documentary on him and if I’m not mistaken they simulated what a perfect swing should be like on a computer. Tiger matches it with 98 or 99% accuracy for a perfect swing.

He was also freakishly flexible - not sure about nowadays but I heard in his prime he could do a full splits and bend down arms straight to the floor. I think he did some gymnastics growing up.
I don’t play golf like that but I can honestly say from the form down to the shot was all flush. Completely perfect

That's some impressive slo mo there.
oh yes, the good ole days
Love the way camera captured that ball shot. It was so fast. Time, focus, Precision is required for capturing this. Kudos to him ♥️
The key to his power is holding the radial deviation (thumbs-up) lag in the wrists deep into his downswing until club shaft is nearly horizontal but then releasing it which allows the club hand mass to rapidly accelerate around the hands before it reaches the ball. Each doubling of the club head speed at that point increases striking force by a factor of 4x (F = 1/2 (Mass x Velocity^2). The ability to lag the club like that in the downswing is set-up by using a wide sweeping takeaway which causes a similar whipping up around the hands to increase the energy of the club head mass exponentially (effortlessly) on the way up. The hinging and release is a function of having a light grip which allows the club to freely “waggle” up and down. Recreational golfers restrict that action when they grip to club to tightly. As a result they don’t generate enough acceleration of the club head around the hand on the way up to set-up the inertial resistance on the way down which is what allows holding the lag deep into the downswing before releasing. Recreational golfers lacking that inertial resistance in the downswing wind up releasing the lag too early (casting) and a grip pressure which prevents the “waggle down” release of the lag seen in his swing before impact with the ball.

awesome point. just noting that technically 1/2*mv^2 = Kinetic Energy (KE) not force. The change in KE does equal to the work performed on the ball though and W = Fd. . So the formula would be F = (.5mv^2)/d where d would be the total distance traveled during impact of the collision.
Dayum, tiger really hit that ball Far, the hang time on that sonofagun 😂

Every shot video I've seen on how to hit. Tiger just did everything opposite and hammered it perfectly and with so much torque. Just some folks are just better. Tiger is one of a kind man. 👏
Basically perfection
That sound !!
Respect for the camera person who flew along with the ball to capture that shot.
Looks so easy...... But when I hit, a patch of grass goes farther than the ball 😂😂😂
By cameraman I noticed ball foot and stick foot are in series.

That slowmo is insane. The ball was changing shape. Try that with your barehands, good luck
Bro that camera man has got SKILLS
that's about the best shot a human can make.
I thought I was watching season 3 of you for a second there
Amazing how Square he keeps the club to impact
Hand-eye co-ordination like no one else. Like him or not.
Good catch camera man
It's a good image.
Not the angle of attack causes the divot but club face ricochet off golf ball, causes club to turn down & contact turf.
In case you’ve never tried to operate a professional camera, it isn’t easy. Props to the camera operator.
Anyone know what tournament/year this was?
I am more impressed with the skills of the Cameraman.
Incredible work
I think of this and laugh every time I hear the driving range "amateurpro" instructors say "keep your head still"
Great job camera man
The right elbow is just… damn.
camera shot amazing
I have nvr seen a golf ball compress like that
He pounds that thing… On the golf course, too.
Best clip i ever seen
Looks like a rubber ball at slow mo lol
Note the deformity on the ball when contact is made, view in hyper SLO mo.
His downward strike is responsible for his very expert use of his "stinger" shot. Obviously, all the tour players are very good ball strikers, but he is an obvious exception. He has been able to create shots when needed.
Ain't doing shit now we want tiger back.

Whoa! I saw some smoke trailing behind that ball.
camera man surprised me
I hit a shot like that today on the range with my 5 wood. The ball went straight had good ball flight and and as far as I get with it but I left a divot which really confused the hell out of me

Wow. Great video.

Big salute to the camera man...
Six from the momment he hit.
brilliant camerawork
amazing footage. I've never seen a ball teed that low with a driver or 3 wood, but I don't watch TV.
Peter Jacobsen - good dude but made one of the worst predictions in golf history in '98. He said David Duval will have a better career than Tiger.
