Our VRF Grab Bags (GB) videos are compiled from content from our cameras as Mods and fans spot something neat while watching our cameras. In the GB you will, of course, find a variety of TRAIN content, special trains, maintenance, steam, diesels, interesting rail cars, cool paint schemes and more. You will also find fun people, city events, boats, planes, cars (sometimes going wild) and nature. Thank you for taking the time to sit back and enjoy these highlight reels that we call "Grab Bags"!

Corvair Ragtop right off the bat. Nice. I bet that guy setting down the ties wins every time at the Crane Game at the fair.

Great Grab Bag ! Hats Off To The CSX Mow Crew job Well Done! Good Musical Performance!
Truly, truly amazing watching that track renewal segment at Ashland VA. Thank you, thank you...👍👍
Thank you for the super close-up shots of new ties replacing the old. Beautiful long shots to let us really enjoy seeing the skill those MOV folks have in doing a great job. Best VR repair shots ever!
The ponderous delicacy of the track-repairing equipment was simply fascinating--and the music was (as always!) perfect. The parade of MOW equipment was pretty cool too, and it's always nice to see the Rocky Mountaineer. Thanks for another great one!
Wow, fascinating to watch the railroad tie replacement. My great-great grandmother used to work laying down railroad ties. That was back in the early 1900s, so they didn't have this kind of equipment to do the hard work.
Sweet Corvair. Those are rare these days.
MOW parades always take me back to Close Encouters of the Third Kind when all those ships came into the scene, pretty far out...the rollout of CSX 1875 led by another heritage is sick! Who'dve thunk fusion jazz would pair so well with tie replacement...I digress. Happy Days VRF.

Watching the replacement of ties is a fascinating way to spend a few minutes!. The inventive machinery that does most of the work is something to behold. It is yet another tribute to human beings' creativity at is most useful.
Thanks for the mow equipment I like to watch mow equipment working on the railroad 😊
gotta love the tie replacement
I could sit and watch the MOW all day long! So very interesting! Thanks for another great Grab Bag!😍
One of the best GB's I've seen in a while. Love the MOW parade and the construction shots. Thank you.
That was very interesting to watch the tie replacement.
I use to run the same machine when I worked for Sunbelt Railroad. Thanks for the vid!
MOW workers are some of the hardest working people I know. This was a fascinating optic pov. Thank you.

An uncle of mine, since deceased, worked MOW back before it was so highly mechanized. He hired on with the New York Central in the early 50s, through Penn Central, and finally retiring from Conrail.
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains in multiple locations, I like them, they're awesome, @Virtual Railfan, thank you very much.
The invasion of MOW !
MOW races in Covington! ALLRIGHT!😂
Is cool how they continue to the lines of white on each car

That's on the rocky Mountaineer
those heritage units sure do look amazing, plus they are all freshly painted and clean. So many locos look like they've been sprayed in acid, rolled in mud and set on fire.
Awesome grab bag! I feel like Mike Rowe should have narrarated the tie replacement in Ashland. Lol
Another magnificent evening of watching trains on VR Grab Bag especially on a Friday evening thank you. 🇺🇲🚂🚃🚃🇺🇲
Nice footage of MOW equipment working!🛤🚂
Speed and great job of CSX for Ashland !👍😎❤️
Wow, what a great look at a well-coordinated tie replacement project. Great close-ups and long shots, too!
They sure seem to have a lot of restored/kept up vintage cars in Chagall!!
Always impressed and fascinated see that equipment work. Awesome job featuring that. Thanks!
10:34, It's CSX 1875 the P&LE heritage unit! That is so cool!

🎤Well Buzz-Buzz-Buzz goes the bunbull bee 🎤Well I' ve seen beauty of the red,the Katy 🎤But great of yours job
Nice Catch.👍🏽
Nice Catches tonight, thanks VRF. I liked the snow on the Mountains at Revelstoke - almost like a Hollywood Backscene. Missouri Eastern is another one for me to check-out, as well as CP 2227
I know they are probably done with the replacement after this grab bag, but could I suggest a complete video with music from start to finish?
*Awesome Catches*
Wow love Ashland Thanks VRF ❤
Soundtrack credit for Ashland MOW? Love it, trackwork dancing to the music.
Nice Highlight Video
3:24 Needs March of the valkyries playing
Hi Virtual Railfan & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Virtual Railfan & Friends Randy
Nice Corvair
I was hoping the toaster would make the grab bag.
It would be cool to ride on the side of the car like the workers "riding the shove" but my backside would take out a few crossing arms along the way Lol
Incredible 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
They might do the same at Hermitage since the other day I saw a Whole bunch of em Pull up 2:47 bc this is what happened to me when I was at Hermitage
That blue car was cutting it close with the white pickup. And if anything went wrong with that track work in Ashland, the crew would fit to be "tied".

Wow Thats Cool Huh Virtual Railfan?
Why is that jump in the Frog at Chehalis
@abpsd73
26 күн бұрын
It's called a lift frog, the siding traffic wheel flanges go up and over the main rail, that way the main line doesn't have a gap in the main rail like a conventional frog would have. Eliminating the main rail gap allows higher speeds, no "clack clack" noise, and less maintenance versus a gapped rail that would be pounded into oblivion with high traffic.
When was the last time they did MOW work in LaGrange?
Just wondering Why is only one spike hammered thru the tie plate into the ties when there’s two holes in the plate?
11:44 Question: The worker hanging on the car - How does he alert the conductor if there’s a problem? Hard to grab a radio when you’re hanging on like that….
@r_mon_e
26 күн бұрын
That is the conductor and he will be using his radio to give car counts and other information to the engineer.
@joeylawn36111

@@r_mon_e How does he use the radio then? Very carefully, I'm assuming.
@r_mon_e
26 күн бұрын
@@joeylawn36111 yes he has to hold on with one arm and use the radio with the other while watching out for slack. Sometimes conductors ride the point for a few miles and do it in any kind of weather.

This video of the repair work in Ashland was taken at around 2am. I was there from noon until 3pm that day and the work was still going on. Multiple in-town crossings were closed, creating an incredible traffic hassle!
At 13:00, the flashing light doesn't seem to be part of an EOT. What sort of device is this?

A lot of conductors will carry these for added visibility on shoving moves, or when shoving back to stationary equipment at night to be able to see the equipment and judge distances more easily.
Its too bad you couldn't play "Ride of the Valkyries" for the MOW parade at 3:00. Bummer. Opportunity lost.

Why don't they just hook all those m o w equipment together and make a single train it would probably save a little fuel
Would like to contact you via e-mail with a question about good rail locations. Is that possible. With thanks.
The bad thing about having all those classic vehicles in Chehalis, is that when the Cascadia Subduction zone tears loose, everything west of I-5 "will be toast." I pray that the owners of said classic vehicles live east of I-5.
First, please add a cam in Rockledge or Miami fL
