Tie-dye pattern P182 : Square Square
This time we fold the shirt in the form of a square and dye its corners. What's gonna be the result? Will it give us a grid of squares, a geometric design, or something totally different?
𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐬:
Aventurine (40% Yellow, 60% Turquoise)
Serpentine (90% Yellow, 10% Turquoise)
𝐈𝐧-𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐢𝐞-𝐝𝐲𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

𝟏) 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭
Start with a clean 100% cotton blank white shirt.
Soak the shirt in water then wring it out. Leave it slightly damp.
𝟐) 𝐌𝐢𝐱 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐲𝐞𝐬
Using 8oz (230ml) bottles
Measure and add your dye powder first.
Add 1 teaspoon of soda ash to the bottle.
Fill the bottle with water and shake well.
Don't mix too much at one time - the solution only stays good for a few hours.
𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 - 𝐃𝐲𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲
Pastel - 1/20 tsp (0,1g)
Soft - 1/8 tsp (1g)
Medium - 1/2 tsp (4g)
Strong - 1 tsp (8g)
Powerful - 2 tsp (16g)
𝟑) 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭
Choose your favorite technique and follow the folding process.
Pleat, crumple, and fold your way to success.
When you're done, bind the shirt using rubber bands or string to secure it in place.
𝟒) 𝐃𝐲𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭
Using your dye bottle, apply the dye gently over the shirt. Use your favorite technique or let loose your creativity, there's no wrong way to do it!
𝟓) 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐲𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭
Leave the shirt in a warm room. The dye reacts better at a temperature of 70°F (20°C) or more.
Let the dye react for 8 hours or overnight.
𝟔) 𝐑𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭
Rinse your shirt in the sink under cold running water. Open up the shirt while rinsing. Continue rinsing and washing by hand until the shirt stops bleeding.
Soak the shirt in warm water to remove any remaining dye.
𝟕) 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭
Machine wash the shirt by itself or with other tie-dye shirts for the first wash.
Cold wash with a small amount of detergent.
After the first time, you can wash your tie-dye shirt with other pieces of clothing.

super simple, clean look. folding always seems important but i think with a "simple" pattern like this, the fold is even more crucial for getting a satisfying look. you did great

Yes you can dye denim since it's made of cotton. The only thing to keep in mind is that putting dye on top of a colored fabric will add the two colors together. Let's say your jacket is blue, adding yellow will give you green. Also, if the colored fabric is very dark it will be impossible to dye light colors on it. If all else fails, you can always use black dye which will cover any other color.

It's slightly damp. It helps with the spread and absorption of the dye.
