This is fantastic to be able program the radio from your phone. The major manufacturers like Yaesu, Kenwood , Elecraft and Icom need start producing products that are innovative and keep pace with technology. Great video thanks for sharing .

The Japanese haven't even got round to USBc charging yet! I wrote to Yaesu asking about a new battery for my FT-70, and suggesting that they could easy upgrade the HT batteries for all their units with the addition of a USB charging socket. No real interest shown. 😟

Great review! Subbed for more great videos. I see the H8 and H3 are both sold as GMRS and HAM versions online. Seems GMRS versions are cheaper in price but can be unlocked for HAM. I went with the H8 for the 10watts of power vs the H3 5 watts. Wish the H8 had airband.

I had to rewind 3 times to see what you're seeing. Yes the the meter frequency still did show 146.52, but the radio showed 446.000. I honestly think that was a glitch on the surecom meter after rewateching. I would have to run the experiment a few more times to be sure. I love your attention to detail! I appreciate your comment and watching 😊. Rewatch it x3 and tell me what you see.

@@W6IWN_RadioThe frequency in the large text always shows the selected A/B frequency regardless of which of the 2 you're transmitting on. If you look at the bottom 2 displayed frequencies, the green triangle on their left indicates which you have selected as your main A or B. When transmitting, a green triangle appears to the right of the frequency/channel you're transmitting on, both times you transmitted the green triangle appeared to the right of A.

@@W6IWN_RadioI replayed that section a few times to make sure I wasnt seeing things. I have a couple H3s and checked what the screens did when transmitting just to make sure. There may also be something wrong with the surecom (or the H3), on low power the frequency it detected was way off. I couldn't tell if you pressed the same button on that test also, the camera went blurry on the 2nd test. I really like these radios, cheap, small and versatile. I EDC mine with a stub on it and better antennas in the car.

@@W6IWN_Radio Ya, I’ve tried the various (I think 3?) different squelch settings with no luck. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a deal breaker and I think the radio is overall an amazing deal for what it offers. However, when using repeaters, especially during our weekly nets, it can become quite annoying, to the point I’d rather just use one of my other radios. On a side note, I’d love to see a “pro” version of this that offers an IP water/dust rating. Id easily pay Wouxun (or more) pricing for it. Between all the bands I can rx/tx on, wireless programming, intuitive keypad programming, easily unlockable, etc…this radio really has the potential to be the best CCR on the market.
