The golden times when inserting the disc already starts the game...

I know that Westwood really wanted to sell you on the idea that the program you were using was like an actual military interface, similar to something that an actual GDI or Nod commander would use. I still remember this installation sequence - it sells you on that illusion before you've even installed the game itself. Feels like nobody goes the extra mile like that any more. I really do hope for an official remaster of this game at some point in the same vein as the original / RA remaster, though some of the mods that people still make for this game are almost as good as that.

Talking about going the extra mile: They even localized all the pictures into the copy´s respective language.

The only other games I know besides early C&C games that utilized an immersive installer was either old DOS games or early disc versions of _StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty._ In the latter case, I think it's because an ex-Westwood Pacific employee was at the helm when that game was made (Dustin Browder).

I mean now whe have digital storefronts, so individual game installers are no longer a thing

the setup for this and RA2 are the best game installs ive ever had the pleasure to run :) it really gave me a sense of... just being a real command and conquer general :D

That is the beauty of the classic C&C games. Even the installation alone is enough to mesmerize you into a state of combat-readiness.

You had to install it that many times?

This setup program is better than many contemporary games...

I think the best part of this is missing; the part that happens when you click "I want to play Tiberian Sun now" and the small cutscene that plays with EVA saying "Welcome Back Commander." Good upload all the same.

Thanks, it's great to see this again. I have a vivid memories of spending 5+ minutes watching this getting more & more excited to play the game in the 90s. I wish modern games installers would be this good.

Back when Westwood Studios were legendary next to Blizzard Entertainment. Now Westwood Studios is bought, owned and destroyed by EA and Blizzard Entertainment is merged with and destroyed by Activision.

when the westwoot sold the ea games this kind of games are finished
