I remember typing in a game from a magazine with a friend of mine. We spent all morning typing it in. Once finished we agreed we deserved a drink before hitting run....I stood up and pulled the power lead out as I walked away....urghhhhhh

Talk about some spaghetti code. Unfortunately this is another game where the player is almost completely at the mercy of the TI random number generator. I think this game could be improved if the programmer had required the player to hold the button down and used sound with no visual indication to determine how far the bomb has dropped. The player would then release the button when the sound reached the pitch or volume at the correct moment to blow up the top of the sky scrapper.

Faults aside, this is very nostalgic. Not the game, which agreed is not great, but the experience of having code brought home in a magazine.

I remember entering hundreds of lines of code over days, giving it a try and it would crash. running the debugger and finding I missed a space or miss spelled a word. But I had days and days with nothing to do in the summer. We had the 512KB memory expansion box. It was the size of a PC gaming tower

@@woodzy575 I would type with my 2 little fingers at the age of 4. Using the above loop to scroll messages for my mom on the screen. One day I typed up 1000’s of lines (which were probably incremented by 10 so really 100’s)… and after fixing the last typo, typed RUN. I saw an animation and heard sounds playing but there was a problem… Like any obsessive kid, I had been bouncing in need of a restroom break for hours. Delaying the pleasure of enjoying a new game just long enough for a bathroom break.. Then the trauma event occurred as time slowed down and I rounded the corner towards the living room and saw my mom flip the power off and all was lost. Guess I wasn’t too deterred as I’m nearing 30 years of software jobs, but would have loved a hard disk! (TWSS)
