Thylaman's Quest (S1 - Ep#5) : Trailcam Trauma (Thylacine Research)

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

A recent trail camera check reveals a stolen cam and the other cam only had some videos of Euros (wallaroos) during a 6 week run. The intro has a unknown animal chasing 3 foxes, it only just got captured in the 20 second video and it moves very fast! It was taken on 24th of November 2021. The chaser measures 10% longer in length (tails not included), 20% shorter in height and 20% thinner in body thickness compared to the adult fox following the same track line.

There is always one hobbling fox in your videos. do you include that on purpose?

My experiences with Thylacines is that they can be extremely fast, and don't particularly like IR light. This animal was extremely fast that even when I slowed down the video I still couldn't make out what type of quadruped it was. Was it a Thylacine, I'm not sure as I couldn't make out any features. I have seen foxes with Thylacines, the fox tends to follow the Thylacine around in Gippsland possibly looking for scraps? Loved the video and subscribed to see more from you. Cheers, Christian

Thanks for your input. I'm considering black flash / no glow trail cams on my next purchase. Personally I get frustrated with trail cams because my target is so sneaky and elusive. I think my best chance is drive scanning with my thermal monocular. I collaborate with a few people hear in SA and my focus area is Adelaide Hills, Murrayland Plains and Adelaide Plains depending on the season or where recent activity is. Happy Hunting my friend!

I've spent many hours analysing this trail cam video. The chaser is 10% longer, 20% shorter (overall height) and its body (belly to spine) is 20% thinner compared to the adult fox close to cam (tails not included). This was taken in an area that I've had many adult and joey sized Thylacine prints.

@@Thylaman I have a few trail cameras from when I first started, and a few that people have given to me (all black flash and no glow - all have the same issues in my view the IR light. I won't by anymore and have gone thermal, so in my view you are on the right path with your monocular. If you haven't contacted Mark Taylor he's doing what you are doing and is an exceptionally nice bloke.

@ambiguousworld yes yes and yes. My film Bite Time and the Black Dogs was with Mark. He drove my car while I filmed with my Pulsar Helion 2 XP50 Pro. We did 200km over about 5hrs.

sh*te pressed reply before I had finished. Nice work on the dimensions, as they fit well for a Thylacine (maybe not a big male). Would be nice to see your Thylacine prints. 👍

Any chance the Warrigal (aka Rock Dog) of the Blue Mountains is still around? Thylacoleo species as large as an African lion has been reported by the researchers at Mysterious Australia.

100% sure, some 2:24 Red fox pups that follow a later.

Looks like a dingo chasing after the foxes, no dark bands on the rump either so unlikely to be a thylacine.

Read the comments and agree we got 4 foxes today.. pardon the comment but is there anything to be gained by being nasty or unnecessarily critical of each other here. After all, we are all doing our best to right the wrongs of the past…

You assert that you have real experience of Thylacine behaviour yet not once have you shown one iota of evidence in your videos. I think you are setting yourself up as just the same as another ambiguous poster we all know.

Try watching episode #7 Previous Prints! I'm setting myself up for a chance to capture a Thylacine on film. I learned their behaviour from historical evidence and the findings of many different researchers from more recent times, even today. It is better than doing nothing, and I enjoy what I do.

Someone should set up an asylum for this lot to reduce the chances of them breeding.
