Thunderstorm in Montreal - August 18th, 2020

****I STRONGLY RECOMMEND USING EARPHONES/HEADPHONES (BASS AMPLIFIED) TO HEAR THE MORE NATURAL SOUND OF THE THUNDER****
A video compilation of the isolated non-severe thunderstorms that affected the island of Montreal during the early- to mid-afternoon. Although less humid, moderate moisture, steep mid-level cooling rates and significant solar heating combined to yield borderline low-moderate instability that would support low-topped thunderstorms. Deep shearing fields were also somewhat defined enough to allow for some sustained and briefly-organized convection, although convection was still slow-moving.
The video shows a thunderstorm that eventually developed over the West Island, as part of a small line that affected much the island and Laval. Thunder can eventually be heard in the video, along with some light rain before the thunderstorm moved farther ESE.
Footage was taken in SW Pierrefonds, located in Montreal’s West Island. Radar imagery is courtesy of NOAA.
