It was designed by Shoji Kawamori, the mechanical designer for Macross. He's made quite a few starfighters in his time.

@@martykarr7058 Because Thunderbird 6 as a designation is something of a taboo. Last time they filled it, it was as a joke after long deliberation. Shadow is not a rescue vehicle, being purely dedicated to counter-terrorism and infiltration roles, so it's not technically part of the standard Thunderbird lineage.
