I appreciate this video especially unboxing from the beginning. I bought this auger and have no experience at all with using one. I'm disappointed with the instructions. For a beginner, there's really no direction on how to actually use this machine. Thank you for a good demonstration and honest comments. Your hands on video cleared up some questions for me and I'm looking forward to getting some work done with this thing now. Thank you!

@@CountryHobbyist I thought the video was great, and I agree with @ninabrown3044 that the instructions aren't especially helpful about operating the auger. But you did one thing so many others with KZread videos fail to do: you kept the auger straight, and bored straight down! I have seen several start the machine and stand a step or two behind it, and drill at an angle... getting nowhere fast! Well done, good sir!

Thanks for making this video. I have an auger that attaches to my Kubota, but you can't get the tractor into every spot you want a post. I purchased the same auger and an additonal 3" auger bit for smaller diameter posts. My wife and I change our garden configuration every year. Overall, great video. I am always a little more winded at the beginning of the season and seem to get better as the summer moves along. I too sit at a desk all day long. Sometimes I feel like it is killing me. I enjoy gardening and getting outside every chance I get. Again, great video.

@@CountryHobbyist it’s like rubbing alcohol it just dissipates and doesn’t leave that gummy stuff behind that chokes these little baby carburetors for me it’s worth the extra money and not having to deal with the hassle of opening something up that technically doesn’t run the same even after extensive cleaning But then again nothing is built like it was for my father and grandfather most parts are cast aluminum and plastic🇺🇸

That next time someone decides to knock your mailbox down you don't have to go out and buy a $270 machine to reinstall a post with. I'm thinking of using this for tomatoes and pepper plants. They don't need to be but 12-15" deep at most to accommodate potting soil and growing goodies. I have found over the years of yard farming, that filling the hole then adding a little mulch around them fills the holes completely and no need to worry about the mower being rough over the holes next year.

Dude, you made it way harder than it should have been, not to mention cutting the engine's life in half by not clearing the augered dirt from the hole. You should have been lifting the auger up almost out of the hole in order to clear the dirt. Being three years old now, I'm sure you've figured that out by now. Hopefully 🤞 😂 By the way, majority of us, myself included relate 100% to the easily winded struggles. 😂 🍽

im no smarter today than I was 3 years ago, you made a terrible assumption there 😂😂!!! thanks for the points, hopefully others will read your comments and avoid these painful learning experiences. On another note, even treating this thing like hell it still fires right up and does its job. that should be a good selling point for this thing.

After having this for a while now, I’ll admit that unless it really light soil, this is a two person machine. It’s a tool that can take it out of you. If that’s not a luxury, then I will say 💪 girl power and don’t be afraid to let go of the throttle. I just think what you want to avoid is having to get in that heavy clay/rocks and end up getting whacked in the shin like I did! That hurt!

If you have clay soil it will work you real good, especially when you start hitting rocks, but it's better than digging 30" or deeper holes by hand. Always be ready for the unit to slam against you because when it hits rock that is what it will do so always brace your stance and brace the unit against your body so it doesn't wack you too hard and don't be afraid to let it go. Don't stand leisurely while using the auger because you will regret it. Take breaks if you have to. I broke a 12" bit in our clay soil. I'd love to work in his soil.

I run an auger for a living and you did two things wrong. 1. You didn't extract the dirt out enough times. You were fighting dirt that you already lossened. 2. You didnt let the auger do the work. You can't force it or it will bog down. Go slow, its not a race.

I was 3rd in line for a return around closing and the cashier suddenly stopped and loudly proclaimed "there he goes again!" We all looked to see a guy late 20s casually sauntering out the store carrying a mini fridge for wine without a care in the world. When it was my turn, I asked where loss prevention was and she said they don't close on weekdays. I guess the invoice price of the mini fridge was an acceptable loss vs paying 2 people to stick around until closing. This is in the Jersey City/Bayonne NJ area
