Yes, thunder warriors has turned against the emperor but you missed 2 facts, 1 thunder warriors was killeds from custodes and the firsts astartes first borns createds and 2 a few thunder warriors has survived and serve the imperium in secret.

that's not true they basicaly divided in 3 parts, the first basically suicide rush into the imperial palace because they wanted to die in battle and tell "fuck you" to the emperor, the second hide and some time after go to another planet and rebel, the emperor sends the futur world eaters who then difficultly slaughter them, for each thunder warrior death, 10 space marines where killed the last part basically hide on terra in the underhives and became gladiators and/or a crime syndicate with, I think the mother of the primarchs

If its not the emperor in golden throne, Terra wouldve been overrun

The Thunder Warrior never sought to betray the Emperor despite their nature. A handful of them actually survived and lived in the criminal underworld as crime boss or as pit gladiators. When the Heresy reached Terra, some of them even fought to defend the Throne World. There's even a story of a Thunder Warrior helping the Custodes fight his possessed brother, when all was done he was given an honorable execution by the Custodes.

If we know the love-hate relationship Trazyn has with Orikin, he probably has one or two Thunder Warriors hiding away in a sealed off part of his museum planet.

There are stories of some Thunder warriors still running around, some still fight for the Emperor, some against. some even seeking out Custodes looking for a warriors death only they could give them ( considering a custodes is about the only thing mankind has that could 1v1 a thunder warrior). It's a shame the Emperor thought to just kill them and waste them, rather than have them join in the great crusade as shock troops and just let them die fighting. but maybe he figured they would be too susceptible to warp corruption and warp fuckery and figured having to deal with some of the deadliest warriors mankind has ever created would throw a massive wrench in his time-table of galactic conquest

i think their mutations would outright kill them.. like their heart suddenly explode etc.. not to mention Astartes have multiple implants that help them combat in foreign environment such as toxic, vacuum or even pitch dark areas. Thunder warrior have none of these things but SHEER strength.

Oh man I could imago e the effect Horus would have on them, though unlike the Legions they served directly under the emperor, so they could side with loyalists on istivan 3 and 5,imagine the death toll that would be reaped, they would turn from massacres into a massive bloodbath and losses for everyone, (except if they sided with horus, then oh boy the loyalist would have a bad time)

There is still one Thunder Warrior hiding in the underbelly of Holy Terra. He somehow managed to make the Astartes organs work in his body and is, as far as I know, still alive

I read in one of the Horus Heresy books that there was still one alive, living hidden away in one of the cities of Terra. He would create or steal organs to help prolong his life till he came across a rogue Astartes that was on the run and harvested him for his geneseed

Poor Thunder Warriors they did their job but were unable to enjoy the fruits of it and I am really curious if the people kept in stasis dream or not.

When guiliman was in stasis he was In a quasi deathless state but that was a few minutes after fulgrim slit his throat. Then 10'000 years later he died and was brought back to life by an Eldar named Yvraine and the Ynead the eldar God of the dead on maccrage during the 13th black crusade.

There's actually other thunder warriors still active aas well. I think there was one of them who actually managed to cure himself of all the debilitating diseases and organ failure he was suffering as a result of the Emperor designing them to fail. There's also a tale of a prison getting taken over by the inmates and the space marines were sent in to get the situation under control. Then along comes a sick thunder warrior that kills several of them without any weaponry and equipment before finally dying himself.

Yeah... the problem with that is you're talking about the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy eras... remember that 10,000 years have passed. None will be alive in the 42nd Millenium and I don't think the way Thunder Warriors were made had to do with gene-seed, so they can't just make more when one of the few survivors dies.

Your describing two instances of Arik Taranis, later known as the crime lord Babu Dhakal who broke into a prison seekin to strike an organ deal with some traitor astartes. He succeeded in curing himself and other thunder warriors. Supposedly he lived until the Horus Heresy.

You also forgot one of the largest crime lords on terra is a thunder warrior who managed to expand his life span and also tracked down and captured gene seed to implant in himself and his surviving warriors but was still total loyal to the emperor

I love how baldemort put these beasts into action. An entire squadron or so I forget how much exactly, got absolutely obliterated by a single thunder warrior. He had no bolter and his power armor is old but he was so strong that even with his spine severed and heart pierce that would instantly kill a space marine, he still manages to live on for few more minutes before finally dying. If he spent those few more minutes in fighting he could probably kill more but he simply gave up since he was too tired from the war.

The Custodes were taken as infants and have specially designed procedures for each one. It is impossible for the Custodes to be perfect replicas of each other. They are each a work of art, never to be repeated. The Thunder Warriors were adults given crude surgeries and steroids at a mass-production scale of around a hundred a year. The Astartes are mass production, but they took time with them where you get one Astartes company every one-hundred years.

The only issue is that they don't exactly have much longevity, being riddled with cancers and imperfections, but the upside is that they were far more loyal than the Astartes to the point even the Custodes felt respect for all of them, even if they were the ones to put them down they respected the Thunder Warriors but felt nothing for the Astartes.

@@starhammer5247 Oh they would be the perfect PDF troops for wartorn planets like armageddon or cadia. You don't even have to give them new armor or weapons. They are fighting on planets or in solarsystems where the Imperial guard is able to fight. Their short livespan would be even better than the average lifespan of a guardsmen (24 hours i think). The mark 1 thunderarmor and mark 1 bolter with a Combat knife and boltpistol would be cheaper equipment than the sisters of battles have. The astartes would be special troops and the Thunder Warriors massproduced super soldiers perfectly created for a universe where their is only war. They would only protect a planet or system. So their wouldnt be long interstellar flights. The other possebility would be to just throw them on a orc planet. They would kill a lot of orcs and even warbosses. And if they die, than just make more out of guardsmen. They even don't need to be trained anymor because full grown adults with lots of experiance in warfare are turned into those monsters of man. What do you think about that?

@@gfgffdd While it makes sense, there is an issue with that. You need to make sure the Guardsman is loyal as all hell because Thunder Warriors are fucking powerful. For reference, a single Thunder Warrior, who wasn't even trying, killed almost ten Astartes on his own before he gave up and let them kill him, and he was actively dying. One hundred to a thousand Thunder Warriors could kill close to ten thousand Astartes. These Astartes were War Hounds, AKA World Eaters. The only ones who could kill them were the Custodes because they were equals to the Thunder-Warriors in many aspects. Fun Fact: The Thunder Warriors were so loyal to the Emperor and his dream that those who survived the battle of Mount Ararat picked up their old armour and bolters and fought alongside the Astartes during the siege of Terra against Horus. They are the ONLY ones that the Custodes respected. The Custodes never liked the Primarchs or the Astartes but respected the ever-loving shit out of the Thunder Warriors and gave them a warriors death when it finally came time to purge them.

Trazyn just walks into emperor throne room and pulls out a thunder warrior and dances in front of the emperor and leaves.

If you have some interest. The book “valdor” covers this from the angle of Constantine valdor and a reporter trying to get more information on the emperors conquest across earth. Good book. Plus you get to see why we don’t have them anymore.

I believe the thunder warriors were killed off for 2 reasons: 1) no purpose to fight anymore. Because the techno hoards were defeated and Tera united, they truly did outlive their purpose 2) Prevent the spread of chaos. Because they outlived their use and had no purpose, the thunder warriors were probably more susceptible to the influence of chaos. This would create more infighting and the Emperor took preemptive measures to avoid this from happening, which would prevent Tera from becoming this war torn planet again

Regarding susceptibility to the influence of Chaos, lore suggests they were practically untouchable. Psykers would experience severe pain trying to use their powers on them and exposure to warp powers in general would send them into a killing frenzy. I guess that was a feature rather than a bug, considering that they were intended to fight among other things the psykers and daemon worshipers that Terra was infested with during the Unification Wars. I don't see how Chaos would have much success dealing with that.

My personal headcanon is that Arik Taranis, also known as Babu Dhakal who was known to have his own gene laboratory managed to replicate a volatile version of the Thunder Warriors on Necromunda after going missing after the Horus Heresy. The remnants of his work being Clan Goliath.

There was a few Thunder Warriors that fought with original World Eaters Legion during the first years of Great Crusade. They organised a rebellion on penal mining station and Astartes were sent to pacify them. They managed with serious losses to take down the rebellion and kill Thunder Warriors to the last.

Of course, Trazyn has one in his Lost-And-I-Found-Them-First-So-Fuck-Off collection.

Of course Trazyn has one. You can’t say anything is extinct or no longer exists because the biggest robotic collector/nerd/troll will always have one. What a chad.

Most of my brothers had no reason to live on after the Unification Wars, and gladly chose to die in honourable combat during the last battles in what is now modern-day France, by that time the original nr of the Thunder-Warriors that had been 20.000 at the very least had widdled down to only 5.000, the battle itself claimed more then the Custodes this much I can assure because even wounded a Thunder Warrior is a match of any of the Companions, but be that as it may the madness that would plague many during the last days of their lives would welcome our true brothers, the Custodes blades as means of liberty, ending our long drawn out duty, thus fulfilling our oath of a united Terra,

I found out about 40K around a month ago because of this channel, and I've been watching you since then.

The thunder warriors love and followed the Emperor and gave their lives for he's name and in the end he always see them as what they are toys that when his done he would throw them the garbage disposal.

Wes talking about any faction: their story is actually really sad. Everyone: this is 40k. So that is the assumption.

I can't wait to see their role in the Horus Heresy books. I imagine they would show up when the Loyalists are in desperate times and are shocked when a unknown group of warriors similar to Marines but bigger were carrying the old banner of the Emperor shows up to proclaim their loyalty to the Emperor before charging to the enemy lines.

In the horus heresy book "The outcast dead" there is a character named "Babu Dhakal" who is a former thunder warrior who absolutely wrecked some astartes.

“You think you love him? Would do anything for him? For duty? And you think he loves you? That he honours his warriors? He does not. You are as I was: just his latest tool. He will discard you when your usefulness has elapsed. He will kill you all like he killed us. His honoured, his loyal thunder warriors. How could he…?” - Unknown thunder warrior to an imperial fist space marine

Classic 'you become the thing you fight!'

I love how: "There's no more of this specific thing.....: Trayzen: "Hold my beer."

Malcador literally says that after the crusade the primarch would be culled but instead the heresy came sooner than expected and quote “some would get lost along the way”

Small note, some of the sources say that they all got killed to a man, but there's some others that mention that, some of them where outside of Terra during the purge, and even survived till after the space marines where made, there's a story of a group of Imperial Fists, that where tasked with hunting down a renegade target, but where not told who it was, when they found him, the "target" killed all but the sergeant, who took him down basically because he was both already injured and basically tired of killing the Emperor's toy soldiers, turns out, it was a Thunder Warrior, and he plowed to about 10 Astartes without even breaking a sweat, or having any real weapons either, scary bastards is what they are.

I find myself wondering if the Collector snatched him up (Probably) or if it was some sort of deal that he took to try to live. Just because he's a rage filled soldier doesn't mean he couldn't value survival over all, even if it's in stasis. Perhaps he'd be freed in an age when nobody remembered or cared about his existance.

Horus after seeing this: "So what do you think'll happen when WE aren't needed anymore? You know, hypothetically?" Emperor: "Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh" Horus: "Ah, I see. Oh well, time to go traitor." *You can not convince me this is not the real reason the Horus heresy started.*

While their augmentations were more powerful than the space marines They were still crude and volatile compared to the Space Marine's augmentations No matter how old the subject was augmented I suspect they would all go mad eventually thus making them unsuitable for galactic domination

Imagine a book about that last thunder warrior, carving a vengeful path through the galaxy in an attempt to murder the emprah. Becoming a living avatar for khorne and becoming the greatest threat to the imperium as he gets ever closer to terra

Unlikely. Despite all of the shit He's done and how many brothers the Thunder-Warriors lost, not to mention the rebellions. Not one Thunder Warrior even considered betraying the Emperor and, by extension Terra. A fair few survivors actually chose to side with the Emperor when the Heresy came around and were absolute beasts when defending the palace.

That colector guy is a menace

There was a couple thunder warriors in the book The Outcast Dead from the Horus Heresy series. They were attempting to get the gene seed from 2 World Eaters and a Thousand son space marine as they were escaping Tera with a psyker who had knowledge of the Heresy outcome. The book culminated in a battle between the 4 of them a hunting party lead by a Custodian and a band lead by the 2 Thunder warriors.

There is also a theory that the ThunderWarriors were used with more warpstuff than Space marines to make them more powerful what made them dangerous to use against psychers and warp entities. Like, they were once sent to fight with a warp rift close by, and their bodies instead of resisting the warp energies around like a regular human body would, they were absorbing the warp energies up like massive sponges, what pretty much made them even bigger, stronger, faster, and insane. Yeah, next time Emp decided to put more tech and less magic into Space marines, and that can be why they are smaller.

Honestly at this point if you lose something like a sock I think it’s safe to assume trayzn just stole it to put in his collection

I would not be surprised if Trazyn managed to get the emperor in stasis as one of his collection before Big E was mortally wounded by an angry bald guy and the Emperor baldy fought was a fake

I wouldn’t mind a spin-off tabletop game of the unification wars like GW did with the Horus Heresy. Imagine the miniatures we could get!

The thunder warriors and the space marines does coexist at some time. It was nearly the end of the unification war. The emperor had stop producing thunder warriors and started the Astartes project. I think that's one of the many reasons why some chapter turn to Chaos or at least just being a renegade. They believe that if the emperor can Just throw away people even ones as loyal as the thunder warriors. Their position within the imperium never once permanent that they can be replaced to. Now with the introduction of the primaris.

I think it was because the Emperor started to feel the taint of Chaos within the thunder warriors and knew that if they were turned to the ruinous powers, humanity was guaranteed extinction. So he had them wiped out before they could fully turn.

Nah. They were actually highly resistant to Chaos to the point where the surviving Thunder-Warriors sided with the Emperor when the Heresy broke out, and not one fell to Chaos.

One of the many tragedies in the 40K universe, but also one of the most preferable. The Goldie Lockes zone of grimdark.

The problem is that you’re dealing with an electrical jackhammer vs a sledgehammer were whilst the jack hammer is extremely powerful unfortunately they don’t tend to last very long vs the more simpler sledgehammers and that’s basically what space marines are are just refining thunder warriors on a budget since unlike the astartes which can live over a thousand years old as well as being physically and mentally stable to the point were they would literally rip themselves apart if pushed to the extreme and whilst any thunder warriors would curb stomp even a wold water marine or even the death guard in an arm wrestle, unfortunately they were on longer, since what’s the point having an entire military full of super hero’s who die not because of combat but because f old age and not only that but unlike the
