    Before there was Thundar and He-Man there was Conan (1930s Robert E. Howard plup fiction). Like all three. Conan being the least civilized, He-Man the most, and Thundar something in-between. We need a Thundar live action movie. They had some for the other two. I would like to see how Earth went from our modern world to Thundar's world. The planet wrecking cataclysm must have triggered many mutations (Hawkmen, Apemen, Lizardmen, Grounding men, etc.). If no live action film then an animated reboot.

    @NSpresbyterian Yeah, I know the face isn't quite right, but that was the closest I could get. The AI sources images from the internet and there just aren't enough images of Ookla out there to get it looking like the cartoon. As for Ariel, I referred to her as a sorceress so that those who might not be familiar with the cartoon would understand she has magic powers.

  • @Thundarr100

    @Thundarr100

    There's nothing wrong with your depiction of Ookla. Moks ARE leonine creatures. You just made them less cartoony. If lions were to mutate and evolve into moks, that's EXACTLY what they would look like in real life.

  • @jimclayson

    @jimclayson

    I don't particularly disagree, but some stylistic changes are inevitable. I'd've probably gone with more muted leonine features and a darker face for Ookla, but I definitely don't hate what was delivered. Likewise, Ariel should be of Chinese descent, but what we got in the the trailer didn't disappoint me. It all looked AMAZING, and put a big ol' smile on my face.

I will buy myself the original 1.Edition books, when i will have some more money and have them deacidified, so that they will last another 60 years. But i have the later editions and the collections by Del Rey and Gollancz. I'm not critical with L Sprague De Camp, since i know that he knew much more about Robert E. Howard and his works than me. And i know that basically he has not infringed much upon Conan's character, so that we can call with a good conscience Lyon Sprague De Camp as a true and the greatest Robert E. Howard and Conan scholar. Therefore i treat his books and stories like the extended Conan canon, but not as the core, which are only the works of Robert E. Howard. Btw. My topics are about Sword and Sorcery, Robert E. Howard and Conan and my own SwS computer aRPG. I have always thought this cartoon above all others should be made a movie, it was truly ahead of its time granted it borrowed some concept from many sources but it was a great story and very well rounded, it’s like mixing Star Wars with Conan and throwing some LOR in for good measures. This is the kind of dystopian high fantasy we need right now, the world building was well thought out and in spite itself presented a living breathing world you could get lost in. Thundarr wasnt the generic barbarian conan clone you though he was, he had depth and relied more often than not on his companions strengths and wisdom to see them to victory. ukla while a beast man was perhaps the most human of all 3 of the main characters despite never saying a single word that could be understood he had a sense of justice and protective spirit that was unmatched, Ariel was not a damsel in distress either, true she was a runaway princess but she fled to oppose her fathers evil empire and sought to bring justice and light to all corners of the world believing that her magic should be used to help elevate all not just a few and her own powers not only rivaled her fathers but surpassed them. the cartoon was pure 80's saturday morning shlock but beneath that was a tale of high adventure that would have made robert howard and his creation conan beam with pride and nod with approval.

    Oh god no! If hollywood got hold of this first up Thundaar would be seen as toxic masculinity, after all boys need to be brainwashed into believing that confidence and strength are bad and men should feel ashamed of themselves for being born a male, especially if your a white male. So Thundaar's roll would be cast to a black women that identifies as being gendar neutral and the whole movie would be about it's feelings and this person could easily beat anyone at anything with zero training because it wasn't born with a penis and testicles. Next the lion guy would be viewed as racist and discriminatory by the woke muppets that identify themselves as being feline. The sorcerer chick is showing waay too much cleavage and that would utterly cause outrage amongst the feminists and also how dare she be a sidekick and follow some white man about the country side. Which in turn leds us to the villians which of coarse would have to be white men because apparently we are the cause of everything that has gone wrong since the dawn of mankind. Opps! I meant to say personkind, and that we should be apologizing to every other race for being born white. And as a result of all this the movie would have endless woke messaging because they feel they know what is best for us and they have an agenda to enforce upon the masses. And when the movie flops at the box office it wouldn't be their fault because like a woke muppet they are unable to take any responsibility for their own failures. So therefore it would all be our fault due to us being a pack of racists and that it had nothing to do with the movie being a complete piece of crap!

    If this was legit, I would ABSOLUTELY pay to see this movie at the theater. Loved the 'toon when it first aired. It was a little inconsistent and uneven in places, but it had heart and imagination, and it mixed just about EVERY genre like very few others. This looks like an awesome continuation of that legacy.

And when the movie flops at the box office it wouldn't be their fault because like a woke muppet they are unable to take any responsibility for their own faliures. So therefore it would all be our fault due to us being a pack of racists and that it had nothing to do with the movie being a complete piece of crap!

Does anyone besides me remember when movies used to be fun . Used to be something you waited in anticipation for . Because they were an entertaining experience that allowed you to escape to an alternate reality for a little while. Yeah I miss those days. I really hope they return soon .
