    Wow!! I’ve been suffering with this for months!! I thought I had arthritis! This morning, I couldn’t move my wrist from side to side at all! I have been watching you guys for a couple weeks and wondered if this had been addressed... or if there was anything to do. I tried the exercises, just as practice to see if I could do it while I was watching the video. When I was finished my range of motion was extremely improved! I’m really impressed! Thanks guys!! Bob and Brad I’m so glad I found you! I had carpel tunnel surgery in 2008, haven’t had any trouble with my hands until this summer 2021. I cut down some trees and bushes in my back yard and used hedge trimmers etc. my hand flared up, right worse than the left, ended up getting steroid shots and a threat for repeat carpel tunnel surgery! I don’t want either so I started stretching my hands with hot and cold baths and massages, along with paraffin dip once to twice a day. It’s really helping but not yet able to bend the thumb. Hoping for a break through soon!

    Oh my god THANK YOU! I'm still suffering with it, I thought that it was an RSI because my wrist was mostly hurting until a few days when my thumb started hurting too, but I finally know that it's DQT just because of the ways you specified could detect it. I have put an immobilizer on my wrist and thumb as it hurts too much to move, and I'm trying those exercises too. But I am now so glad I found you guys!

    My thumb pain is above that joint… more like 2 inches from the tip of my thumb, on the inside side of that knuckle, not my wrist… at the second joint behind my thumb nail & right where Brad pointed at 1:20…. Closing my thumb as in that last test doesn’t do anything. My thumb closes completely, there’s no stretch because it bends closed at 90° in all the thumb joints, or if straight passes my pinky. Just got back from the Dr & she thinks this is my problem! Thanks for all the help! You guys are so fantastic & where I go every time I need to learn something about how to take care of myself! 💕

    I had that twice, first on one hand and then the other. Both times, it developed suddenly and without explanation. I don't do texting and or any other repetitive activity. It was one of the most painful conditions I've ever had and was truly disabling. I couldn't do any daily tasks. I couldn't even hold a dish or wash my hair. My orthopedic surgeon was sure he would have to do surgery, but tried a steroid injection. Both times, the steroid injection worked like a dream and I avoided surgery. I wore a wrist-and-thumb brace for some time. Later, I found out that I had undiagnosed, untreated Lyme disease. Any time a person develops an inflammatory muscle or joint condition without injury or any other explanation, that person and the person's doctors should suspect Lyme disease and should do several tests for it, including a clinical exam, as most lab tests give false negatives.

    Question: lots of people use backpacks. School kids, college kids, military, business people, hikers etc. You should do a video on how much weight is okay and for how long. Because I walk about 10 miles with a 40lb backpack about 2 times a week. Wondering if that is good or bad.

  • @jasonkinney4008

    @jasonkinney4008

    Жыл бұрын

    a proper backpack fit should transfer all that weight through the frame of the backpack to your hip belt. All that weight should be carried on your hips, and not on your shoulders. The shoulder straps are just to keep the backpack from falling backwards, there should only be a very small amount of pressure on the front of your shoulders, not the tops. You should be able to slide your fingers easily under the shoulder strap above your shoulders. Sorry this reply is quite late, but better late than never, hopefully you've found the way to adjust your backpack so that it fits properly by now. If not, make sure to adjust it so that ALL the weight is being carried on your hips, none on your shoulders. If it's not possible, your backpack is probably too small and you need one with a larger frame.

    @@dejavu3663 , i recently went to a Chinese physician and she recommended cupping. That is, to puncture on the area affected and using a suction cup to expel blood out which is blocking the Qi. Not painful except bruise marks on affected area. Got to rest hands for at least 3 months. Here in Singapore, it is recommended a registered and well trained physician.

    So I have been doing the de quervain's exercises for about two months and it seems to be helping. Then I started developing tennis elbow and started tennis elbow stretches which seemed to irritate my de quervain's again. The thing is the stretches are not painful when I do them, but I've been getting pain several minutes or even hours AFTER the stretches have been done. Any advice for stretches when you have both tennis elbow and de quervain's.

    If the numbness is in the thumb, index and middle finger then you may want to research carpal tunnel syndrome. If it is more on the small finger then it’s possibly cubital tunnel which is compression of the ulnar nerve. Hope this helps. We do have a very lengthy video on carpal tunnel already uploaded.
