Old Sim Racer here. Nice to see the wheel is solid. (I would be surprised if it wasn't adequate) The one thing I would encourage you to try are pedals with a load cell brake for racing games. That is where you will see the biggest upgrade. The load cell measures the amount of force you are placing on the pedal as opposed to the distance the pedal travels. Thrustmaster, Fanatec and others make sets that while are not cheap they aren't crazy either. Used sets can be found too. It is rather crazy how much more consistent you get with them.

I second this. Thrustmaster really isnt the best deal anymore. Fanatec is making things so cheap now that it's basically made these thrustmasters obsolete. A load cell brake is the only way to go. You can get fanatec pedals that hook up usb and you could still use the wheel with nicer pedals.
@TheGavranatar

You need a solid seat/rig if you want to use a load cell brake though. You should be driving all your force when braking 100%, a standard chair wont cut it
@Hoop27

@@jackmakackov7077 I'm pretty sure Thrustmaster came out with a load cell pedal set in the past couple years to compete with Fanatec. Price was competitive too as I recall.

@@TheGavranatar I do agree with the rig if you are really into racing sims. (I made mine out of old 2x4's and a free car seat.) But if you don't have a dedicated space for a rig as long as you can get something as backing for the pedals against a wall that won't move it will suffice for a casual racer.
I bought my TMX about 5 years ago now for $179 CAD brand new from Best Buy ($135 USD). It's been a great wheel, fantastic for the price. I did buy the T3PA pedals a few years later ($99 CAD) as I do find the included brake pedal to be way too spongy. It's plug and play, works with all racing games and ATS/ETS flawlessly. Yes, the T300 is better, but at more than double the cost, you have to really spend a lot of time sitting in front of your PC to justify it.
The DD wheels are amazing and have become incredibly affordable for the quality. The feel for the car they give is second to none. If you never tried em, I strongly recommend giving it a shot with a good sim. If your arm can handle the stress that is. Also pedals with load cell brakes are a game changer
I bought myself a used Logitech G29 set with clutch and shifter the other week. I'm gonna set it up on a stand and practise manual shifting this week, starting in City Car Driving and Assetto Corsa. With a Quest 2 it should be immersive experience!
Yep. Agree - great wheel for the money. But what got more of my attention was your range of rotation in your arm. Now i dont know about the concrete circumstances but as a physiotherapist im a bit worried tbh. I would have expected, the time given, that you would be better by now. A lot of therapists are to shy and dont dare to do the necessary because it means really going into the pain - something you normally would try to avoid. To mobilize contracted structures as in your case to underdose is a big mistake. You wont see any progress 🤷🏻♀️ I hope you are in the right hands and I wish you strengh for your recovery. Shoulder mobilization after Trauma is just nasty...

Mine is mechanically blocked I did months of painful physio to get an inch of extra movement, it was worth it tbh.
Been an on and off sim racer for a good part of 8 years now (iRacing, ACC etc etc) and recently bought Moza r5 bundle on discount for £400 - Its night and day compared to the t300 and g29 ive had in the past - Im now fully engaged with racing games again! its like that feeling of going from console to PC

Humm that is interesting , i want to get a wheel bundle but so many around i dont even know what to get , i don mind getting around the same price you got yours 450€ or so , for me is better to pay a bit more and get something that will last if you know what i mean , however i never played sim with a wheel , i had a cheap wheel a long time ago to play euro truck but that was it lol , anyway thanks for sharing your experience.

Had a t300 for a while. Will hop on DD soon now I've finalised my vr setup.
I'm considering upgrading my old, trusty G25 to a direct drive wheel with CLS pedals. The wheelbase I've been eyeing is the Monza R12, but it also costs €1100.
Oh massive nostalgia feels of the good ol arcade days and driving games. I think if you love driving games this is a good deal.
I have a TMX too and it's handsdown, by far the best budget wheel out there.
Hello Mac. Glad to see you reviewing a wheel. If you are looking for racers to review, WRC Generations may be something you would be interested in. Because 1-rally game and you love a good rally game, like Dirt Rally and 2-this was developed by the TDU SC devs. You can use the game to see if your confidence in the TDU SC devs rises or falls. Speaking of rally games, a couple of days ago, EA Sports WRC had its 1st trailer. Its the spiritual successor to Dirt Rally. Its even made by the same devs. You may want to keep an eye on it considering how much you liked Dirt Rally. One more question, have you played RIDE 5? I know you said you may give it a go around 3 weeks ago and it officially launched in August. Keep up the great work and hope the health problems stay away from you
I opted for a T300RS on a static rig on my PC. Played a lot of ACC and Automobalista. But I don't use my gaming room now. Opted to just use my PS5 and Series X in the living room. So no longer Sim race.
I guess the rabbit wasn't around for the testing
That's a nice setup. It looks very enjoyable to use.
You need to set the wheels deadzone to an extra 40, 45 degrees mack
Still got my old Logitech G29, it's got 3 pedals that are solid, never had problems. FFB isn't great but until I become a better driver it will do lol
I've got the same wheel (TMX pro) and headphones! And they're both brilliant!
Great review. The price of wheels are crazy
I got the pro version with the better peddles just before covid. price shot up after and cant seem to find them anywhere. fantastic wheel.
Been using the tmx to play PC2 and Automobilista 2, its been pretty good for a budget wheel
I bought a g29 from $350 Aud on sale 2 years ago and I love it, I reckon the quality is great value for the money but your wheel looks decent Mac
Good choice for the money. I have the thrustmaster T248 and manual shifter which I use for American Truck simulator and it's great.
I have a t248 and I have been looking at the moza r3 bundle coming out soon. Looks like it will be an upgrade 👍
You can buy a leather wheel cover that can easily sewn on to the wheel and it will make it look and feel like a more expensive wheel , thats what I did , it only took me a few hours to put it on .
I've had several wheels and I'd only buy the TMX if it's heavily discounted. FFB is weak and noisy. It's much better than a non-FFB wheel, but I think the G29 is a significant upgrade and can often be had for the same price.
Hey Mac, I broke my elbow about 12 year ago when I was in grade 4, and you are the first person I’ve ever seen to have the same issue (granted on the other arm) what exactly did you break? I’d be interested to see if it’s similar? Ps I love your channel keep up the great work!
Thanks Mac!
That Ikea desk is worth a buy too 🙂
In thrust we trust! Would you recommend this or the t126 or the PXN offering for a budget driving game starter?
Ill stick with my g27, still working great, and i love the 3 pedals with the shifter
The dog's hairs are one of the best features Mac!
Had a T150 (which is a TMX only for PS/PC instead of XBOX/PC) that I got with the improved pedals (T3PA), and the pedals were definitely better than the wheel. Did not enjoy it at all, and ended up selling it. Recently tried a T300 and a T500 at a virtual simulator, and both were tons better. Really enjoyable experience with those ones. Currently saving for a T300.
Best part of the video: Bell on the right side of the table.
That dust filter on your PC is Rats. Give it a clean mush. Much love from bishop auckland
I've owned this wheel since 2017, except some wobble that needs screwing on from time to time it's a great wheel overall :)
Skimmed title: When did he start reviewing pornography? Lol
You’ve got lovely hands Mack
Thrustmaster was also my nickname when I was an 18-30 club rep.
A collapsable sim rig makes a huge difference. Pedals, wheel, gears all in a good place. Much better than strapping it to your desk.

@roenieI started out that way... then I got a rig and it all felt that much better and more naturally positioned, like actual driving... that is the point of blowing £200+ on a wheel in the first place isn't it? I won't mention the worthless junk addition of VR.
How does it anchor into the table, I bought a wheel many, many years ago, and it had the most annoying screw in mechanism that took ages every time you wanted to get it out to play a game...
what wheel would be better for starter wheel Tmx or g29, Tmx priced and 120$ g29 priced at 180$
Fuck me, arm reveal? Are we at 500k subs or somethin? I wasn’t ready for this today
I was waiting for a "Thrustmaster TMX, is it worth a buy???" but Im happy to see the review anyways :)
Moza is now doing amazing DD wheels for PC and Xbox.
Mack are you ever going to do another Bannerlord revisit, now that its fully released?
Perfect combination to do the future assetto corsa 2 worth a buy
Looks wheely good.
You have 2 screens and none of them is in the center? How do ppl live like that...?!
These lower tier wheels (TMX, G29/920, T300 RS) have kinda been phased out by new developments and the aggressive price cuts made to the higher quality direct-drive wheel systems. Its no longer the case that you pay thousands for these kinda of setups. I believe the Fanatec CSL DD bundle is ~£340 and the Moza R3 bundle is ~£320. Which while admittedly is a jump from the TMXs £200ish, you go from "entry level" to "borderline professional" with that investment, which offers you higher quality feedback, feel and more guaranteed longevity. I highly suggest anyone who is getting into sim racing to forego these older entry level wheels, as the value for money just isnt there when for just ~£150 more you could be getting kit that will treat you much better and last longer

@@WorthABuyreviews the advantage a direct drive may offer for your use case is the ability to lower the force feedback while preserving the detail, which gear or belt driven wheels will struggle to do Glad youre finding it alright though and hope ya have fun with it!

Not everyone cares, some people just want a replacement for a controller. How are you that dense? Entry level equipment exist for a reason.
But aren't the old pedals compactable with the new wheel?
Is there an option where you can get a clutch pedal?
Its a wheel from 10 years ago. And for a bit more money you get a much better one like the T248 etc.!
Are you gonna review Crew Motorfest? Cheers Mack
So will we see more motorsport game reviews from you again?
I hope that you are not connecting the white mini-fan with your pc. My PC had problems because of it.
Does it come with nail clippers? Coz... woof
A dvd drive in the wild !
Will this enhance my Starfield experience?
Is the keyboard replacing the bells?!
Since this probably isn't direct drive is is plastic gear or belt force feedback?
Those looks like the same pedals as on the Trustmaster T150, i don't like them. On the carpet at least it grips better, but on other floors it easily slips. The wheel is decent on the T150, but you can notice it being a budget wheel, you could feel the cogs moving trough the wheel a little bit.
1:59 I'd like to see some playing on that piano some time!
I'm still using a G29. Plenty for sale online.
Are you going to play armoured core 6 ? Seems like something you would enjoy. :)

You can get a suicide know to help you out for your arm . I've had one in my Semi for years.
Why do you have Logitech Powerplay pad and a wired mouse on it? :D
Get the TLCM PEDAL Mack!
Never pictured Mack having such impressive fingernails. Thought he'd look like the critical drinker or something.
Just a passing comment for any prospective buyers, if you can stretch your budget to around £300-500 then you can get yourself a Direct Drive offering from the likes of Moza, Cammus or Fanatec that will be on another planet to something like this in terms of driving feel. But I guess this is the best you're gonna get at this specific price point.
I'd say the biggest problem with spending money on a wheel is there isn't any good racing games available and according to you there isn't going to be any new AAA racing games coming out that is worth the cost of this or am I wrong and you know something we don't?

Has your arm injury impacted real life driving Mack ?
I FOUND THIS EXACT ONE at eco thrift for $15 !!!!! Whoever was putting prices dropped the ball and i got a DEAL ! Can’t wait for forza 8
Meh. I've had this exact wheel for a couple years now. It's a decent entry level wheel at a reasonable price and I love the software, it reminds me of setting up controllers in windows XP lol. The software works though and is recognized by pretty much every game. The gas pedal is way too soft though. I've been thinking of getting an entry direct drive wheel personally especially with Forza Motorsport 8 looming over the horizon.
When you realize you and Mac have the exact same PC case. 👀😂
What happened to your ace combat 7 video?
The T300 is definitely a better wheel than the TMX. Thats the lowest tier Thrustmaster atm. If the old one didn't fail I'd roll with that one. Hopefully this means more Sim Racing content is coming. I'll give automobilista 2 a shout.

@WorthABuyreviews I see. For a budget wheel the TMX is solid, especially if you hate the Logitech brake pedal like so many do - but occasionally you can find really premium older kit pre-owned. Something like a Fanatec CSL/CSR Elite or a T300 for around the same price, maybe a bit more expensive. They'll also have the clutch pedal - it's heresy to not have one imo, especially if you're blasting something like 80's DRM or Group C cars in Assetto - you need the h-pattern and clutch. Dunno if you have Craigslist or Offerup out there in GB but that's where I'd look first if I was on a budget. Premium kit makes a massive difference.
gas pedal spring broke within a month of purchase
Will this work for Need For Speed? Oh wait...
I have a love/hate relationship with Thrustmaster peripherals. They always start off great, but degrade quickly.
If the pedals are a bit light to press, bung a sponge under them 👍🏼
Oooh!
