What a wonderful looking light. 26xx tubes are my favorite to hold as I find them the most ergonomically sized. I really liked the original Cat6, but one of my biggest gripes was the size of the button and how hard it could be to find it from feel. I wish they could have made it a little larger, or varied the machining around the collar of the light so you know which side the button lies on.
@cheule

I know what you mean. I often found the button by feeling for the flap, then going opposite side.

Yes have to agree with you there it's my only thing i could fault, I often find myself fumbling in the dark for that button. If only the Pro had a tail switch..
I have a of of Thrunite flashlights. Last summer I lost my Catapult V6 and replaced it with Wowtac A4 V2. Recently ordered a Catapult pro. And since earlier I have a TN42 XHP35 model. Different sizes and levels of great throwers! But I rarely use the turbomode because high mode is just slightly less bright for the eye, and spares runtime. Apart from that, turbomodes has a large stepdown(exception here is TN42 XHP35) and will be around high level anyway within a few minutes.
We've reached peak flappy-doodle... I almost bought the last iteration, I'm really tempted for this one - I've a bunch of 26650's laying around. I completely agree about Anduril on throwers - they are more or less one-trick-ponies anyway.

Your videos are great very informative very detailed and honest. Quick question if you have time on a couple of lights. Between acebeam k75 or thrunite tn42 v2 which would you recommend? Also between thrunite catapult pro and acebeam L19 v2? I'm looking for compact thrower and mega thrower. I narrowed it down to these four. Thank you for your time and your great videos happy holidays

The K75 and L19 v2 are the directions I would lean. The K75 is my favorite sbt90.2 thrower. It’s 90% as good as my much larger Astrolux MF05vn, and half the size. With the L19, I actually prefer the large TIR beam, and the lack of flappy doodle. I’m also a big fan of the dual switch design of the L19.

Have you ever used a TC20? Was thinking about one - but wasn’t sure if it had enough intensity so I was considering one of the above lights. I think both are probably waaaaay too throwy though for what I’m looking for. General purpose flashlight and for walking in the park, was thinking the 22k cd of the TC20 would be a bit low and was thinking more in the 40k range? What do you think? Any recs? Really like the efficiency of the TC20 and the jacket pocket size.

That's the only thing that I didn't like about the osram NM1. I loved the SFT40 but now that I got used to my wide beam XHP70.3 HI EDC, SFT70 might just be the perfect one for my next thrower build.
I just bought the ThruNite TC20 V2 yesterday because of the excellent runtimes and the really nice floody beam. So now the perfect companion light which is a real thrower? Yes I think so. 😉

@@cheule Ok I have tested this and compared the Thrunite TC20 v2 against the original TC20. The first thing that will be striking is how much cooler this runs. Both on Turbo, freshly charged batteries, in 48F degree outside temp the v1 @ 2 minutes 128F degrees v2 only 107F degrees. Claimed specs the v2 is 268 lumens brighter, 3,180 Candela less and 51 meters less beam distance. Both running the XHP70.2 LED the new v2 not only runs cooler but produces more usable light on target at 80 meters. (my test target is a playground helix shaped climbing obstacle made of 2.5 inch outside pipe and 1 inch inside pipe, colored pink). I don't know the bin numbers on the LEDs on the two lights but the original TC20 has a noticeable green tint while the v2 has no such tint to the beam. I don't have the testing environment to accurately test run times. But based on others reviewer runtimes and my experience the v2 certainly seems to have much better runtimes.
That’s great impersonation! Just talk without moving your jaw. Drives me nuts. I can’t finish a single video of his , gets on my nerves. Love your reviews. You get to the point and not ramble on and on. Great job!

This is one of the best throwers in the world, IMO. But darn if the On And OFF switch is a bitch to find in dark. It too flush, really thought the would fix this. It's impossible to turn on unless you actually look at lite. One of the best performers ever though.

I agree on all points.
I just got my dessert tan pro. Love it but disappointed with the battery. Once it gets to about 3.7v or so it won't turbo. I tried an astrolux 21700[tight fit] and it's a noticeable improvement without losing turbo at lower v. I'm now searching for a good high drain 26650. Some other bothers are the battery check useless till you reach 80%depleted, hard to find switch. Still it's a great flashlight. ✌️

This is very common with turbomodes. Turbomode is often an overdriven level and the battery needs to be pretty much full to manage it. Apart from that the light can be too hot. Personally I rarely use turbomode because high mode of Thrunites is just slightly less bright than turbo and it will run for more than an hour without stepping down.
I have both versions of thrunite Catapult. The only issue I've had with the Pro is when using in turbo. Gets hot really quickly. But who's actually using turbo for more than 10 seconds?
@cheule
Жыл бұрын
Heat is a thing… but I find it doesn’t get too hot, even after 30s to a minute. But turbo is definitely an “over drive” mode.
How does the SFT-70 compare against other thrower emitters tint, output, throwyness and CRI wise?
@cheule
Жыл бұрын
Very bright, top tier in that regard. Throwier than other emitters of the same size because it’s domeless. Very cool CCT, around 7000K, low CRI. But those last two really shouldn’t matter for a thrower like this light.
Do you know of any other light just like this but with more output and throw? I have this one and love it, but, always looking for that step up!

Жыл бұрын
He’s put larger emitters a D1, so that’s not an issue, it would only be about getting the 12V boost driver in the D1. Email him at contact@intl-outdoor.com, and let us know.
You can drive that SFT70 at 6V/7A, and it'll produce 3,500 lumens. I'd have to imagine driven hard in a 120mm reflector, it'll throw a good 2 kilometers.
For a first "serious" flashlight this seems like a good mix of practicality and fun, for a not insane pice. Would you agree? I have minimal idea what I am talking about, but that is definitely what I took away from this video.

What a shame, it’s a solid thrower. I know Hank Wang of intl-outdoor.com will send a K1 thrower anywhere with free shipping. It’s a phenomenal thrower, but two words of caution, 1) you have a bunch of options to select (he builds them to order) and 2) it’s running Anduril which is a complicated UI.

@@cheule ah. It started at 100. If they do a tan version like last time, I'll probably jump on it.
A thrower doesn't need anduril, but anduril (even out of the box) will be much better than the UI on this catapult pro . And you can set it up as a stepped UI, which I prefer, especially for a thrower.
