Throwing a new bowling ball for the first time

Спорт

We finally have your requested video of Kaylee throwing her brand new bowling ball. Kaylee was bowling with Gretchen, one of the producers of Girls Gone Bowling. In this video, we are highlighting several shots from Kaylee and Gretchen at different angles. I am experimenting with what camera angles I like for the GGB videos. Unfortunately, the backlighting was terrible and the ball return was squeaky but we will correct that for future video shoots.
Kaylee and Gretchen did an excellent job and are a lot of fun to watch.
Thank you to BowlaRama Lanes for allowing us to film in your location.
If you are a woman who enjoys bowling and would like to join us - it's free thanks to our sponsor AvoidBadCustomers.com
Enjoy

I’m a 61 year-old leftie who bowled for the first time four months ago. I just bought my first ball, & tomorrow I am going to bowling with it for the first time. I’m excited about tomorrow but also a little nervous for a variety of reasons. Your video gave this new chapter in my bowling journey some much needed context. Thank you!

@@FSUSean2112 Thanks Sean. My first month I averaged 64. Now (months later) I’m averaging 101. I know that’s not a high score, but I don’t compare my score to others’ scores. I only compare my scores to my earlier scores, so I feel pretty good about my bowling journey so far.

I remember getting my first ball. Such a different experience bowling with something that actually fits you, and to have the same ball every time you bowl. I bowled in High school and now I have 4 different balls that curve in different ways.

The funny thing is, I just bought my very 1st ball (a green & purple Motiv Venom Shock) about a month ago. And about two weeks I purchased a new plastic ball (a black & white Storm Mix) for picking up spares along with a two-ball bag.

The new purple Tropical Surge ball stuck in her hand during the first throw because she might had been used to the house balls with loose finger holes. Plus she might also had been used to holding the house balls using her thumb, pointing finger, and middle finger (as what she said in the other video when she bought that purple Tropical Surge). It might take a few throws to a few games to familiarise ourselves with any newly bought ball.

Most people struggle to hold the ball loosely since they have to grip house balls to avoid dropping them early. Good comment and observation on her grip.

As a bowler for over 50 + year and a youth coach, she has very good basic fundamentals. With practice and proper coaching she can be really good. (Has Kaylee got a fingertip bowling ball yet?)

Excellent comment and we agree, if you buy a ball get shoes also. She did get shoes and a bag when we filmed the How to buy your first ball video but they had to be shipped so we never filmed that scene.

I'm noticing her new ball is not hooking . is that because that lane was really oily?

  • @girlsgonebowling

    @girlsgonebowling

    Жыл бұрын

That is a great comment and observation. Three reasons why the ball could have been hooking better - First, the Tropical Surge is not a very strong ball. Second, the lanes at this center are very oily - this is a league center. Finally, she must still develop the techniques to produce a strong rev rate and hook. However, you can still get a lot of strikes by staying inside the 3rd arrow and driving into the pocket clean.

She would do much, much better with some lessons. She has nice core skills and with some tweaking she'd improve very quickly. 1st thing is the easiest to do, and cheapest...wipe your ball off after every shot.
