Throwback Thursday: Stray Bullets

Ойын-сауық

This week we cover Stray Bullets, an independent comic book series originally published in 1995 by El Capitan Books. It is written and drawn by David Lapham. The series took a long hiatus in 2005, but resumed publishing in 2014 under the Image banner.
The large mosaic story deals with the often criminal and sometimes tragic misadventures of a large cast of characters taking place from the mid-1970s through the mid-1990s.
Watch as Darren tries to sell a black and white comic book to a new and unsuspecting generation. He'll tell you why its special, why you need to read it and what current comics are influenced by it.

I love this series. Whenever I try to get customers at my store excited about it I describe it as a Quentin Tarantino series starring kids and teenagers. I used to have those big hardcovers like you have and then a bunch of issues, but I sold them and got the Uber Alles edition, because I'm not a fan of mixing formats. (to really see how much I dislike mixing formats, check out the letters pages of Powers volume 3 #1 where I rant about the huge delay in the release of the second deluxe hardcover,)

Finally a review of Stray Bullets, it seems that this one is missed out on KZread pretty much. Reading this at the moment and loving it. I have the Uber Alles edition but it doesn't look like it's well put together so I mostly read the digital version and I'm keeping the Uber Alles in good condition as I'm a collector. Might have to do a video of the Uber Alles once I am finished, which will not be too long. Great art and a great series, though it took me a little while to work out what was going on.
