Kobe Bryant pulled Phil Jackson close, embracing his coach and looking him straight in the eyes. After all they'd been through, this was their moment, their championship, their time. This was the one to top all the others. The one without Shaq. The one to pass Red. Bryant's seven-year chase of a coveted championship is finally over. He's got his fourth title, and Jackson his record 10th. One year after failing in the finals, Bryant and the Lakers have redemption, and all the rewards that go with it.

just love his game. such a student of the game. he's got a piece of all the nba legends. -hangs in the air and makes tough shots just like elgin baylor. -keeps the dribble alive & protects the ball like oscar robertson -psychological dominance of mj. also has the fade away. -some of bird's late quarter intangibles as well as his intelligence -doesn't quite have magic johnson's passing ability, but still has some sweetness in his game -even learned from the dream.

stch2416 We know Kobe is past his prime. We don't deny that. We don't know exactly how much Kobe has left either thoe. Lebron gots nothing on Kobe when it comes to the clutch situations, When the matter counts & seizing the moment. the difficulty of shots kobe makes or the killer instinct and how he embraces and conquers the moment with the ultimate confidence is surreal. Lebron is good, Freak of nature athleticism and uses his speed and big body to get to the rim 70% of the time. Playing with a couple HOF's in Dwayne Wade & Ray allen and a surrounding core of good players helps him look better also.

biesjo the first 3 titles he was 2nd fiddle to the most dominant player probably ever! he did NOTHING in the first title run! 02-03 there were THREE teams in the West with better records than the Lakers you think Kobe deserves MVP that year over Duncan? Led the Spurs to the best record All NBA First Team Defense All NBA First Team Just because Kobe played huge minutes average 30-6-6 DOES NOT MEAN he should win MVP MVP is for the most VALUABLE PLAYER NOT player with nice stats it is for the player who CONTRIBUTED THE MOST TO TEAM SUCCESS 05-06 The Suns finished as the SECOND SEED Lakers the SEVENTH seed. I'm not that excited about the Nash getting it but you don't give MVPs to gaudy stats , there has to be team success behind it The Lakers won 45 games! If you give the MVP to Kobe that might be the lowest win total EVER for an MVP on a team. Duncan, Dirk, Kidd, Wade, Nash, Billups ALL have more right than Kobe to that MVP TEAM SUCCESS is more important than individual numbers almost all MVPs should have their numbers dropped when teams win and their numbers go up when they are losing Should Jordan have gotten MVP in 87? how about 1989 and 1990? His stats are much better than Magic's fact is YOU HAVE TO WIN and in 2008 Paul took a less talented team , had a better year than ANY of the Nash years and won only ONE LESS game than the Lakers so NO, Kobe DOES NOT DESERVE ANY MVPs

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Kobe Bryant hold the record for the most total selections with fifteen a piece Tim Duncan 02-03 Averaged 23.3 points and 12.9 Rebounds Kobe Bryant 02-03 Averaged 30 points 6.9 Rebounds and 5.9 Assists Only Thing is The Spurs Had 10 more Wins Then The Lakers MVP(most valuable PLAYER..not team) shut that stupid shit up...I Hate ignorant fucks that don't give credit where its due

I miss the 90's---- and am so grateful that MJ took Kobe under his wing and Phil Jackson became the coach pf the Lakers. I fell in love in high school with basketball but the first one I really followed was Kareem (Dr J was up there too_ and next it was Magic and then the top of all MJ. Kobe was a kid getting into the NBA but asked MJ in a game for some pointers and their relationship was awesome. There are so many other players who were soooo good- watch the 92 Dream Team doc. I could go on and on about other players that were soooo good (Allen Iverson , Oakley, etc) But Kobe was way up there when looking at the best of the best- but not ahead of MJ.

Give me Kobe's prime days over Lebron's any day of the week. Respect to both legends, but Kobe had way more skill. Lebron depends way more on athleticism, speed, and his unnatural size that correlates with that. Kobe had wayyy more skill as far as footwork, shot, moves. And his killer instinct was ridiculous as well. Lebron is no doubt the greatest today, but Kobe's prime days were better.

That's not even close to true. Larry Bird is one of the best players in history - was not athletic at all and is still better than a bunch of players who are athletes today. The Spurs are the antichrist when it comes to athleticism, and they`ve been winning for 3 decades. There are plenty of athletic trash players in the league today. That's an illusion that you need athleticism to be great because it looks cool.

ochobeasto Lakers had a better roster that year, but there was never an era when "LeBron couldn't beat Kobe".. overall, LBJ has owned Kobe in head to head matchups since day 1..

+BB13131313 i was never focused on career matchups between the 2. I was saying in 09 lebrons cavs team wouldve had no shot against a clearly better lakers team. Which was clear the way the magic got beat 4-1 couldve been 4-2 but still got beat 4-1. Lebron at that time in his career wasn't ready to win a chip

32.4 ppg, 7.4 ass, 5.6 reb in this series where they almost sweeped them, and Kobe 'initiating' Dwight to the league in his rookie year where he was choking on his nuts is why they had a feud last year. Hard to let those kinds of things go when you're supposed to be a 7 ft monster.

You see, what haters don't realize is this: MJ had a superstar, hall-of-famer in Scottie Pippen for ALL 6 CHAMPIONSHIPS, later with the last 3 w/ Dennis Rodman also (another superstar HoF). LeBron (exclusively about Miami) had Dwyane Wade, & Chris Bosh (2 superstars). Just like LeBron only had an all-star in Kyrie Irving (who is definitely bound to be a superstar) w/ Cleveland, *** Kobe only had Gasol in '09 & '10 as an all-star teammate!*** After averaging nearly 30 ppg as the sidekick to Shaq in '00 - '02.

kobe had 3 players with over 8 rebounds the best center in the league and a top 5 one, a great defender and sixth man of the year , and role players like fisher and ariza. so he had a great team , jordan had a great team for 96-98 but they were old and didnt have great role players, either way jordan preformance in the playoffs is easily better than kobe, kobe was barley the finals mvp in 10 and wasnt from 00 to 02

Kobe is the last of a dying breed. The kind that will tough it out and keep on trying. Will carry his team if the other guys aren't doing well. Won't flop and will keep on persevering. We have seen flashes from lebron ex. Finals game 5 first quarter but ultimately just gave up and the spurs won. Also when he was in Cleveland, lebron opted out because he couldn't carry the team to a championship. I don't blame him I respect him, but he won't be a fighter that fights to the last breath ever like Kobe

Kobe has had great teammates on all of his championship runs, kobe has never carried anyone, lebron had no one on his team in cleveland, if you are gonna say someone carried a team look at what d wade did in 06, he out played better than kobe ever has in any of his finals appearances, Kobe has the most misses of all time and is a ball hog, he is not some great team player like you describe

WhoKnows352 Well when Kobe carried, his team had shitty players like Kwame. But when Gasol came in, he didn't really have to "carry" but he technically did by being the leading scorer and coming in clutch during the 4th quarter.

Kobe did not come up clutch a lot in his career, he has a handful of game winners, he got bailed out by derick fisher alot i will give him his props he is a great scorer, but he also has the most misses of all time and he isn't really a good person, he would have won way more championships if he wasn't so abrasive, none of his teammates have ever really like him, and he demanded the ball too much and shot way too much, Kobe could have surpassed michael but he held himself back with his attitude
