So Throne & Liberty, This was my and many others most anticipated MMORPG release of 2023, This is a game that’s basically been in development for 12 years, It started off as Lineage Eternal, then it was reworked as Project TL in Unreal Engine 4 then it was unveiled as Throne & Liberty in 2022 and appeared to be a third person PC focused MMO with action combat…
Unfortunately, it turns out all of the marketing material for the game was incredibly misleading and the game is basically another typical mobile focused MMO with mobile monetization, and mobile auto play combat that’s basically cross platform on PC and Console for the sake of reaching a larger audience.
If you like many others thought that this game was NCSofts answer to Black Desert Online and a PC focused MMO though you can forgive yourself because based on how the devs were describing the game in an interview only 5 months ago, there’s no wonder why people thought this game was something else…
What do you think about Throne & Liberty after the recent BETA gameplay was shown in 2023? do you think this game is DOA? will you still try it out? are you surprised amazon game studios is publishing this MMORPG? let me know in the comments below!

______________
Throne & Liberty Description
Throne & Liberty is a tab targeting mobile PC cross platform MMORPG where every ability roots you in place, the game has dungeons, world bosses, raids, a massive open world, a pay to win mobile cash shop, auto play mob grinding, various crafting systems and a focus on large scale PVP battles.
Throne & Liberty will be published in the west by Amazon game studios sometime in 2023 or 2024, This game will be free to play and will likely be NCSoft's next big cash cow despite marketing itself as a PC focused game when it's clearly designed mainly for mobile.

12:22 players getting sucked into gambling addiction is sadly a timeless classic

  • @plsdontbanmeagainyoulibtards

    @plsdontbanmeagainyoulibtards

    Жыл бұрын

Honestly I can hardly have any sympathy for anyone who dumps all their money into shitty ass mobile MMO's. As long as you're not a kid who's getting sucked into gambling (though kids aren't typically known to have an ample supply of disposable income) you're an adult and you need to take responsibility for yourself and your finances. I get the gambling can be a genuine physical addiction, but that still requires you to start in the first place. And you can't blame gambling addiction for getting you into gambling, only can you blame it for keeping you gambling, and even then you still need to have some level of accountability and responsibility for not taking any steps to recover from that addiction. All in all, I find it hard to blame these companies for making these types of games. They're the shittiest possible games you can make with the shittiest gameplay, and yet they make loads of money off people who willingly hand over their bank accounts for pixels. It's a timeless classic, but it's about time we start blaming the people who engage in this and not the companies who facilitate those people's decisions. Those who don't like these games just won't play them, and those who do, will. As far as I'm concerned it seems everyone is getting what they want, even if not everyone is necessarily wanting what they _should_ want.

Do they even deserve props? Gamers have literally been tricked and duped year after year after year after year and yet every single time without fail companies are able to get people hyped for their eventual disappointing disaster of a game. At this point it seems like it hardly even takes any skill or effort to trick gamers into believing their promises and expecting their game to be good. Of course in a perfect world you should be able to be hyped for upcoming releases and believe whatever marketing you see, but we don't live in that world and that's been proven time and time again. So many gamers are just gullible as fuck, and if anyone's to blame it's them. Their gullibility allows these companies to get away with saying whatever they want and overpromising. It doesn't matter how hyped you are for a game, it's either going to be good or it's going to be bad. The marketing team doesn't care either. They don't need to skillfully trick people, since they're always going to market the game in the best possible light. They don't think "oh this game is shit, how can we make it look good", and so they aren't doing anything impressive. And since people always eat that shit up, it's not like they'd even need to try to trick people even if that's what they are consciously trying to do. So no, no props to the marketing team. Instead props to the consumers brains for being able to consecutively be so gullible and never learn after all these years of experiencing this same shit.

you might be able to argue this happens because most people are overworked. they only have time to play games on their phone on the train, airplane, cab, small breaks etc etc etc. What i find interesting, deeper than that, is how the p2w has so much success. Could it really be just whales, in general?? Or is it more true that people on average can't see the forest through the trees, when buying 800%!!!!!!!!!! VALUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! only to realize what they just bought is useless in another 5 hours of gameplay. I will agree and lean on the side that it could be fixed if people just stopped buying. But... if people are working nonstop and want to change money -> in game "time" ... we are getting into harder discussions.

@@hunterjobrien It's true that there are some whales, but a dozen or so whales dropping 500k on the game isn't making 2-4 bil. The real issue is the manufactured "arms race" of P2W games. Back in the day BDO had weight, inventory space, pets, and a tent. If you were a newer player, everyone in the game ahead of you would say you basically aren't playing BDO without pets and a tent, it's only like $100 don't worry about it, it'll pay for itself. You feel "left out" like you'll never be able to progress at the same rate as those around you because you have to spend all that time going back to town to buy pots or repairing. Then you grind up a bit and get your ass kicked in PVP and think "If I had ONE upgrade I would have won that fight, it was so close! If I spend a little I'll get the edge I need". It's not the people dropping thousands, it's the people dropping a casual 50 or 100 every week or so. Consider every time somebody drops $60 on a cosmetic or a little boost is the same box price a studio spent millions on and years to develop a AAA title, but it took them maybe a week or two of labor. I knew a lot of people that played the game a lot and would casually drop a hundred or so every month because they could afford it and it was the only game they played. It's like selling a big release like GTA or COD except every month and for a fraction of a fraction of development cost.

Action combat-oriented MMORPGs (such as TERA, BDO, New World, etc.) focus on dynamic, fast-paced fighting primarily for PvE and limited-scale PvP (1v1 to 3v3). Beyond that, it often devolves into chaotic encounters with players rapidly moving and unleashing countless crowd control effects out of nowhere. For those who enjoy reactive-based combat, akin to shooting games, this may be acceptable. As I see it, T&L sets out to provide interest and enjoyment through large-scale battles executed effectively. To accomplish this, a more grounded and deliberate combat system is necessary. While it may make PvE and 1v1 situations appear dull, especially at early levels with limited abilities and mechanics to engage with, it truly shines when multiple players participate in the battle. This approach offers a clear view of the battlefield, enables the formation of strategic combat groups, facilitates coordinated movement, and emphasizes proper positioning. These aspects enhance situational awareness, strategic decision-making, and ultimately lead to a greater sense of enjoyment in massive combats, resulting in fun experiences. One can easily observe this by watching recent GvG T&L videos, which bear a striking resemblance to old-school MMORPG wars like Rising Force, Ragnarok, Lineage 2, as well as more recent titles (although to a lesser extent) like ESO and GW2, which manages to achieve partially. It is important to note that comparing games within the same genre while focusing on different aspects, such as combat, can be misleading and unfair. Particularly, comparing early levels of one game to late-game content of another is dishonest and does not provide a comprehensive view of each game's overall experience. Although I am not defending T&L as a flawless game, it is evident that there is still room for improvement, especially concerning excessive automation in various aspects of gameplay.

I don’t even watch out for MMOs anymore. Honestly, in 84 years when the next great MMO releases I’ll know it’s good when I hear about it from other people. Tbh though I wouldn’t even mind if we got another BDO level MMO. When bdo released it was probably the biggest mmo to come out in a while and I had a lot of fun with my friends with it. So got my moneys worth. Can’t say the same for the garbage that releases now.

I mean all this screams to me is that MMO players are just as much to blame as the company. How are we gonna sit here an complain about how there are no good MMOs coming out anymore when we're literally shilling billions to terrible mobile games instead of putting our money where our mouth is? I no longer empathize with the community after seeing the numbers when it comes to Lineage vs GW2. Throne and Liberty will also make a huge profit in the same breath that you all complain about the MMO genre.

What you described is 2 completely different kinds of people. The people that are traditional MMO players watching LazyPeon videos are not the same type of players that are shilling out to mobile games. This is exactly why that Diablo Immortal "Don't you guys have phones?" moment came about. There's a major difference between the audiences.

Tears on my eyes from joy when i hear Lineage 2 music, and tears from the atrocity they produced when everyone was convinced by NCSoft it will be new era PC MMORPG.

Well imagine that pvp footage from Steparu with x3 players doing all those pvp or legendary boss or castle siege, just like in Lineage 2. I admit the combat system is primitive, but if that's the solution to prevent lag and channel splits while doing all of the stuff I said earlier then it's worth it.
