Ermou Street literally the Street of Hermes is an one and a half km pedestrian street connecting Syntagma square to Kerameikos archeological site through Monastiraki square, named after Hermes the God of the merchants as was designed as the main shopping street of Athens since the original planning of modern Athens back in the first half of the 19th century.
