Thrills Spills & Hills | Six Foot Track adventure in the Blue Mountains

Today I drive the Ford Territory through the Six Foot Track deep in the Australian Blue Mountains. Super cool water crossings and a heap of awesome views. I also talked to a cow.

Nice camera work on the water crossings. Slo-mo brings a new perspective on the water.

That part where you mention if you were going to get stuck, it would be there - during a club trip in the recent La Nina, that creek was running much harder. A Prado in our club got stuck and flooded the arse end of this 4wd. We had to pull him out. Further along in Jenolan State Forest, he slipped off the road due to the clay surface and had to be rescued again.

No matter the car always pays to be wary and be careful - goes to show full blown 4wds can get into a spot of bother if not careful

Great production value, if you're ever down Victoria way I'd happily drag my AWD behind for an episode!

So the tracks not too challenging and could be doable in a 2nd gen Honda CRV no lift or modifications?

if it's only FWD, make sure it hasn't rained in awhile as you might struggle out of some of the river bits. If AWD you'll be gravy just be careful on the lower mud bits, you'll be right if you pick your lines carefully :)

@@alwaysAWD It's FWD but it has realtime AWD meaning it kicks into AWD when there is slippage. Thanks for the heads-up, will give it a spin when there's a dry season.

ah - most cars like that for 'real time AWD' should have a mode that keeps it locked in under a certain speed. Like the Suzuki SX4 keeps front and rear engaged under 40km/h. So maybe look at your owners manual to see if you can engage it more - yeah stick to a dry time if possible, as you can see the river gets to the bottom of my doors when it rains a bit, and it's already got an inch lift! Just wait a week or two from heavy rains and you'll be sweet 🤙

I've driven this track (and tracks around there) about 6 times with my club. It's either been a fairly graded dustbowl or a slippery, rutted, wet mess - especially during the La Nina we had. We crossed the creeks one trip after a lot of rain the night before and they were raging fast and we were nervous. Later that day another 100mm came down and we advised the club to cancel the next day's trip. In your car, I'd find out if it's graded and make sure there hadn't been any recent downpours.
