Very similar to when he beat Ronnie at the Conference Centre, then his clearance was kinda similar to Hendry beating Jimmy in the final frame, except he had that hard red down the cushion.

John made so many unexpected mistakes on easy balls throughout this season that I couldn't believe he's gonna win today even when he was straight on the final black. But what a clearance that was! Not the highest game standard in that match, but that decider was pure gold! Breaks 62 and 71 to clear the table. Clearance of the season and one of the greatest clearances in crucible history! Clearance to stay in top 16 for John! Congratulations, incredible ending.

Snooker drama at its best thanks to both these players, What a shame one had to lose but that winning break from 62 down and only a double to go at to start the comeback was sensational under such intense pressure.

Incredible last frame! Will surely go into the pantheon of the all-time classic moments from crucible history. From the ballsy, audacious double, the gritty, yet sumptuous, pot on the last red to set up the brown, and a composed and classy clearance under the utmost pressure (not forgetting Higgins's beautiful touch and cue-ball control from green to brown during said clearance). And not only is Higgins through to the quarter-finals, he retains his spot in the top 16 -- the cherry on top of a delicious big cake!

What a player Higgins as always been. Mark is a fabulous player, but both him and Robbo, just don't do enough at the Crucible.

Higgins is a machine

Mark Allen threw that match away he only needed that one red to win the match and missed it but I wanted Higgins to win anyway he's not looked very confident lately. He needed this to restore some confidence I don't particularly like seeing Higgins unhappy with his game. I'm chuffed for Higgins, very happy he won!

Insane amounts of accuracy required to play at the top level, which only come from countless hours of dedication, oh and god given skill as well. The fact that a player as spectacularly skilled as Mark Allen hasn't won a world title yet is proof that this is Ronnie O'Sullivan's world, we just live in it.

My late mum was a big fan - she lived in Hamilton quite close to the Higgins family & on occasion would see John & Denise & their kids in the local supermarket or restaurant, Friendly, down to earth, unassuming...just as he appears on TV,

Amazing from John. He's the best at these clearances, what bottle to take on the double and then play the last red along the top cushion with pace. If he was 0-74 down with 75 on the table and all reds plus pink and black on cushions I still wouldn't count him out. Can he now win the title? Let's see.

Enjoyed every sec of the whole match, best ever from John, knew he was playing the double even before he did 😂. Unlucky Mark that’s a hard one 😢 best of friends tho & in years to come friendship will always be stronger, talking about that frame.

Not the hardest clearance ,but in the context of the match knowing you have to clear with your top 16 place on the line ,that was up there as a classic .first red and final red ,all or nothing shots .brilliant clearance.

So disappointed for Mark. Based on their recent form, I expected him to win quite comfortably. Hope John does well for the rest of the tournament and finds his for again. No point beating a player as good as Mark o ly to lose in the next round.
