The metal ashtray is Art Nouveau, not Art Deco. Nouveau was the era before Deco, with the beautiful ladies, curvy shapes, and nature-inspired themes. And oh man, that onyx lamp! ❤

Hi Laura, that Leather Belt Case you picked up is a "Leather scroll case" used for maps and documents to carry in on a belt.

'Way back in the early 70s, I was on the hunt for some apricots in the Yakima Valley to can and to make apricot nectar. I ran across the Love Family, working in the fruit to make money for the group's home base in Seattle. They were what you would call "hippies" and each one of them had a "scroller" that looked like the leather case you found. It contained the parchment that identified them as a member of the Love Family and their "family name" and their set of chopsticks for meals. Only the guys who drove the vehicles had drivers' licenses (normal IDs). At the end of the day, the GUYS with the licenses all decided where they would meet and camp the following evening. To join the family, you had to turn over all your worldly goods, and any money you earned went to the family coffers. Since it had similar echoes of the marriage I had recently gotten out of, I said TOO PATRIARCHIAL FOR ME, got into my VW bug, and took my son and my apricots home.

When visiting the US, we couldn’t believe how breathtaking Zion is. We were snowed in at Bryce for four days. Which we didn’t mind at all. The photos does not do it justice for the stunning scenery. It was our favourite place of all our trip.

You could put a secret map in the leather carry case! I love it too!

Saw them a few months ago (they opened for Journey) and I have to say - they were better! They had the whole place on their feet singing Africa

Very good video. You must, must, must drive from Flagsff Arizona down into Sedona, Arizona - so beautiful and the mountains and canyons are absolutely gorgeous! And the bonus is Sedona - such a great artsy town surrounded by red rock mountains.

I visited Zion with my parents 22 years ago! My father has now left this world, but I remember how much he enjoyed the trip around southern Utah. I think we did that hike! Gosh I miss him!

Tiki lover here. As a child I visited the Kahiki Supper Club in Columbus Ohio (THE mothership of all Tiki). There are several books written about this place, very worth reading to understand that era in history.

27:08 On the cookie vs. cake debate, a few years ago in England, there was a legal case between the tax authorities and the makers of Jaffa Cakes, as to whether these are cookies (in England, called biscuits) and cakes, as the VAT (like sales tax) rate was higher for cakes than cookies, and the makers were charging the rate applicable to cookies. Hi Laura, love your videos. Leather tube looks like a document or blueprint tube (or case). I've also seen them called drawing tubes, I guess if you want to put your blank paper and drawing utensils in it to carry around.

Find the perfect cloth roll up makeup brush holder (or have one made) that will fit in the leather carrying case and use it when you travel. You will be the coolest kid on the trip😂❤

You can use the leather carry case for jewellery!!! Get a jewellery mat that rolls up for rings earrings and necklaces.

I was in Zion many years ago. Vision over load. Loved it. So good to see it though your eyes.

The leather carry case you bought, or another one that is taller, would be fantastic for buying art you take out of the frames on your travels. You can roll them up and keep them safe in your suitcase.

My nephew travels to play pool table and he has a leather case likt the one time stamp 13:12 to carry his stick it unscrews in 3 -4 spots so it can fit in the small case. Maybe a drum stick case or for some type of flut or mmaybe even maps or drawings.

I would hang that leather case on the wall like a wall pocket with some tall branches or greens coming out of it.

Leather spyglass holder was cool.

I love the leather case...maybe dried flowers for a vase? What a fun thrifting adventure!

The leather case is for spy glass, used by explorers and ship captains, or military tracking, etc ect.

Hey Laura I think the leather carry case was for artist brushes. They would carry the brushes out to paint in nature or if commissioned to paint at someone’s home

You could put unframed art or jewelry you buy on your trips in the leather case. Roll it up and go.

The leather case was for a monocular. My dad had one but yours is even cooler!
