I love this series!!! And I'm so glad you show us the entire journey from the thrifted piece to your new creation. Seeing all your little mistakes and thought process makes the project much less scary, and I no longer freak out when I mess up, it also gives me a lot of great ideas to creatively overcome those hurdles. You took an old dowdy stained skirt and made a flattering beautifully fitted fashion forward top and still managed to incorporate the beautiful scallops...You are so talented and inspiring!!!

This came out amazing! I think the tassels looked heaps better than the scalloped edge would of.

I come from a family that is talented in sewing..had sewing class at school and was great at it then left it for ages..your making me love it again..your incredibly talented ..and I love how you show every error that faces you so we could learn..Thank you soo much 😊

I really appreciate that you also mention your initial plans, how sometimes plans don't work out, and you have to just continue being creative and making new plans work. Skills for days. Very cool.

OMG!!!!! This is the best transformation ever!!! Omg!! It's SOO pretty & looks like something from H&M or Forever 21

This might be your best and coolest transformation thus far in my opinion! SO CUTE!

With that kind of talent at your age you need to be designing your own range. I'm blown away.

I buy old leather jackets/skirts/pants that are dirty or stained (or reek of smoke- that NEVER comes out) and make balls and mice for animal shelters- they always need toys, and they are so simple to make (the mice are two pieces with ears and tails sewn on, and the balls are 6 identical pieces sewn together- I make them out of fleece or sweatshirt too). I fill the mice and balls with catnip for the kitties so they can have fun with them. It takes maybe 10 minutes to make one of each- if I cut out all the leather beforehand I can make them super fast (if I used a machine it would probably go faster, but I enjoy sitting and watching tv while I sew). I also make reusable grocery bags out of old tshirts- people always have tons of them; I make them when I am bored (or sick in the hospital ,which I am a lot- since they are no sew you can make them anywhere), then leave them at the grocery store for other people to take and use.

This would look so pretty with rose gold eyelets!

This transformation was beautifully done.

I really admire how you tried out working with this fabric and learned about it as you went along. That you didn't avoid the fabric just because it was new. And I LOVE the results on you! It looks so fabulous! Way to go!

I love how you describe your process especially when you find yourself changing your original plans. It's interesting to see how they evolve throughout your projects. I love your channel!

Oh man that original skirt is heinous. #goodwillnightmares Great job !!! If you can transform this, you can do anything!! Project Runway!

I've watched a lot of your videos and this one is my favorite. I've been recycling fashion since before it was cool. I'm 39 now, I started doing this in junior high. I've always loved fashion but can't see spending a fortune on it. I love making unique pieces no one else has as well Sending much love and blessings, you are so talented. I really love how you talk about the things you learned about the material you used as well how you had to change your original design, scrape certain ideas etc. It lets me know that even you (who is amazing and super talented) is still learning and doesn't have things work out perfectly all the time. Nasty indeed. The problem with suede is that you can´t wash it, so that´s a difficult material to "thrift". But I too have bought items with nasty stains or holes or other problems, people wondered why I´d buy those useless things. For upcycling purposes though, they´re great. Cut off the damaged part, wash and reuse the rest.

i normally dont like when people wear animal hide but at least in this case it was recycling and no more animals had to die to make such a nice top!

+Rachel Booker Normally suede is not made of animalhide. It is often made of a blend of polyester and cotton. So if you dislike using every bit of the animals we eat (cowleather and sheepskin, etc.), you can safely use suede. :)

I like when you take the time to teach small tips for handling specific types of fabric. (i.e. sewing longer stitches when working with leather/suede so you don't weaken the seam). Love your videos!

I am obsessed with princess seam dresses without a waist seam atm they are so flattering on all figures and I wish they were more popular. It would be amazing if you could make a video on how to make a pattern or how to sew princess seam top/dress in detail. Iv been thrifting quilt covers from my local stores for $5 to use as inexpensive fabric as I'v just started sewing and don't want to buy expensive fabric in case I mess up. I love your videos so much, keep up the good work.

can you do a video on how to make those popular style flowy tulip shorts? they sometimes have Pom Pom trim. I have an old, sheer long-sleeve blouse that I'd like to up cycle into a pair of sheer tulip shorts to use as a beach cover up. I'm new to sewing so I'm not sure where to start. thank you!
