I feel that it was lowkey shady that the flea market lady followed you to the ATM! At that point, I would have said ma'am just return my money and have your jacket back!

Oooo girl when I tell you I was SHOOK! I literally froze for a sec and was like WTFF is happening! to be fair, there was a slight language barrier so it took us a min to sort everything out but she was low-key yelling at me and the other girl who sold it out of frustration but I GET IT! I woulda been upset too if someone else sold my vintage for hecka cheap! I think she was securing the sale at her price so that's why she walked us to the atm - at this point she had the jacket in her hand so im sure she wanted to make sure I didnt flake. I was already in love with the jacket and wanted it as a memory of Iceland even if it did have a hefty price :( buuuuuut at least the Moto jacket comes with a story now lololol

daaang these prices are crazy. These were probably all curated thrift stores, really cheap thrift-stores (at least here in greece) normally don't appear in google maps so you really have to just know the area to find cheap un-curated ones. Those thrift-stores here are typically called outlets (but you still can't find them on google maps with that name) and during sales you can buy clothes for 1€

Thrifting in Europe is quite different than in US. For example in Poland a lot of thrift stores have clothes on kilograms, and in the new stock day the price is around 20 usd per kg, but the price decreases every day and on the last day before new stock the price is 5 usd per kg. But the vintage shops can be extremely expensive. I also had good experiences with thrifting Spain, Denmark and Italy. In Italy and Denmark my best finds were at Sunday’s flea markets, while in Spain I found cute stuff in vintage shops and they weren’t crazy expensive.

Woww that last story leaves a bad taste in my mouth because why would you go off on a customer that thinks something costs... what they were told it costs?? Like yell at your employee sure, but not at the customer! That honestly sounds kind of scammy, but I'm glad you were able to talk down the final price. Looks like Iceland is a pricey place to thrift but you got some cute and unique items and they'll always remind you of your trip :)

i live in france and “thrift stores” are very curated and expensive. it’s really more like vintage shops than anything. but there are some associations that sell everything and anything for very cheap (they take donations) to cater to those that can only afford second hand and those are closer to a classic american goodwill. but yeah it feels like the vintage stores are lowkey a scam sometimes because of how high they hike up the price for items that they probably bought for under 10€. when i see how cheap you find things in LA it makes me so sad that it’s not that easy in europe

@@twinelle luckily you can find much cheaper thrift stores in Paris! also, generally speaking, in some European countries we get our second hand items from street markets which take place on one day of the week. thrift stores tend to be a little bit more curated and more expensive, although i've never seen anything like the steep prices they have in Iceland

Hello, person from Iceland here. Iceland is one of the most expensive countries in the world, and it doesn't help that we live in the middle of the ocean and have almost everything imported. When we order things from abroad, shipping costs can be as high as the price of the thing itself and then when it gets here we also have to pay huge customs, so...that's the reason half price of a thing here is the same as the full price of that thing new in other countries. I also wanted to point out two very nice thrift stores in the city centre that are not in this video, and those are Hringekjan and Lóla Flórens (which is also a very witchy café, very nice). I also really love the Hertex shop in the outskirts of Reykjavík (Vínlandsleið is the name of the street). They get really quirky stuff there sometimes.

That teddy cardigan is so cute but I would not have bought that jacket under such preashure, just shady selling!

Thrift store prices have definitely skyrocketed even in the US. Those jackets would probs be that much here in rome rinky dink town. Clothes is usually now 4-5 dollars a piece (not including branded items that are purposely higher priced, ive seen $10-20 pants at my thrift... it's not even the city). I would love to cop a moto jacket or vintage leather coat

I love ur vids but the idea about a video that focuses on you toning your body isn’t my cup of tea. ( I’ve struggled with my relationship with food and I just think it could be triggering for some on their journey of healing )😘

Unfortunately these prices are not a surprise for Europeans...thrift stores and vintage stores pick out themselves the clothes they sell, it's so frustrating :(

NooooooooOOOOOoooo!!! I might be going to Paris later this year cause my sis is studying abroad and I'll finally be able to thrift in France! It's been a dream of mine since I was soooo young! But, after seeing Iceland prices...I can't even imagine Paris prices :(

@@eleonore59830 Girl could you please give me some recommendations because I went last year and the prices in Paris were so crazy expensive! I clearly did not know where to go 😅 I'm from Belgium and thrifting is pretty expensive here as well! Thank you so much in advance ❤️

bwahahaha dear gawd💀okayyyyy well coming from a city girl...I LOVED ICELAND! I think it's so easy to forget that quiet and slow pace places like iceland exist! It was a nice change of scenery and I think LA and the US could learn so much from Iceland. BUUUUUT thrifting fs broke my wallet!

Totally see this cause I struggle with the same! For sure I’ll put a trigger warning and a disclaimer at the start similarly with what I did with my last closet Cleanout✨
