Honestly as a plus size person my New Year’s resolution is learning to sew, make jewelry, and crochet. My brother always tells me we don’t negotiate with clothing, and being 25 I’m like yeah fuck discomfort in anyway.

@lovejessicablair I had a friend give me clothes to try on and she didn't even check the sizes before handing them to me, she just thought they were cute. It was an extremely long process realizing they all won't fit and I had to tell her that through the door in a public space. She meant well but oh my gosh 😭.

I appreciate you sharing this, I wear between a size 10-14 depending on the garment and how I want it to fit, but I still have this mentality that thrifting isn't "for me." Every once in a while I'll go, but as a New Yorker I have only thrifted when I'm out of town. The thrifting scene in NY seems really different and my experience matches yours (expensive, disappointing, way less selection than out of town, and weird scenarios happening inside the stores lol)

The way that you’re an otherworldly goddess through and through. One of the reasons I love you and your channel so much is that you totally get that style is about how you feel, and that clothing is a cool ass form of expression - it’s not just about the look. (Which you’re always pulling the baddest, coolest, most unique looks I must add.) This whole video had me thinking about how my wardrobe must werk for me and that I want to continue to thrift things that I know I’m gonna get so much use out of! I really respect the authenticity of not finding much and not overbuying. I love shopping, collecting, and self-expression, but with how normalized overconsumption is even in thrifting, it can be hard to not get something "just to get something." You're stunning and gorgeous as always stay wonderful

I’m so happy to see other body types as a young person I’m tried of seeing the same cookie cutter body type and the pressure to look that way but seeing you confident in your body makes me feel better and good in my own

That’s a good area to thrift! If you haven’t been to the L train over there, I think it’s worth it, they have a lot of true vintage. I think there’s also a crossroads in that area

I'm also plus sized and primarily thrift all my clothes. I usually have quite a bit of luck doing so, but I mostly shop the men's section. My style is kind of...goblin/grandpa core, I guess. So thrifted big man clothes work absolutely perfectly for that. 🤷 Also! You absolutely give Penelope Garcia vibes! Omg that is so iconic. Low key jealous!

I agree about the physical media with prices going up on streaming services and everything else really. I’m of a similar size, truthfully, a bit bigger. I’m a big thrifter and get, as much as, possible, second hand, (thrift, eBay, etc). I love raiding the mens section at the thrift. I’m very much a vintage lover and have an eclectic style. (I’m a sag.). I so need to add the Macklemore song to several of my playlists. I kinda forgot about it, tbh. I also have to be careful about wearing heels. I got a knee injury at work and found out I have arthritis in both knees. 🤦‍♀️ long story longer, I enjoyed your video because clearly I relate to quite a bit of it.

I see a lot of KZreadrs using thread up, and I think they have a big plus size selection, I don’t know just an opinion.

New York is different from the Midwest. I do find more plus-size thrift items in the Midwest. Still is a lot of Torrid though.
