The DeMott's lived a few doors down from me growing up. They worked out of their garage where they started their metal sculptures. My sister and I each got one of their early pieces by John because we were always hanging around watching them work. I still keep mine on my desk. I always smile when I see a De Mott in the wild!

Yaaaay! Thank you so much for sharing such an awesome story! I'm definitely gong to pick up the next DeMott I find...🤗 💕 ⛵
I learned bargain hunting from my Daddy. When we lived in Texas back in the late 70's early 80s Daddy always searched REAL junk stores for solid oak chairs. These were not antique or thrifts...they were very old junk stores. He would by them for a couple of dollars then restore them. When I was in my mid 20s and trying to set up my first apartment mid to late 80s... I reverted to what my Daddy taught me and bought furniture and housewares from thrift stores. My favorite stores were Thrift Town and Texas Thrift. Back then they were true bargain prices. You could find the most awesome things for even .25 and .50!!! Great furniture for $10!!
Love thrifting with you and sharing your knowlege 💖💖💖💖

Tiffany, your friend had so many lovely items. The clay circle of friends was awesome. There's such a wonderful story behind those pieces
I’m a 3rd generation thrifter. I love so many of the thrifting youtube channels. However, there’s only so many hours in the day. Therefore, I had to narrow it down to one. Thrifting Vegas! I love her voice and the way she handles the pieces. Very zen-ish (I just invented a new word).

@@ThriftingVegas I hope you didn't take it as if I were being nasty... I totally understand it from your point, as well. And you'd need storage room for each & every "single" piece, until they sold! I know you're not replacements dot com! It was just a thought...I just figured it would be another source of income... There is a woman who has a channel called "Crazy Lamp Lady" & she does well with creamer/sugar sets...she is like you & doesn't buy single pieces...my first creamer/sugar set was an antique set from a great aunt...a shower gift. My fiance went around a corner & the box fell off the backseat of his car & one piece broke. For THIS reason, I feel the Crazy Lamp Lady should purchase single pieces, too! You never know who needs a lid or bottom! Right? :) I love what you do! ♡ ❤

I recall making one of those Huckleberry Hounds in the '60s. It was an art kit. It came with a thin piece of copper, a mold, and some tools to press the copper into the mold. I had completely forgotten about it until you found it on the shelf. So cool! I may just have to go see what you are asking for it for the sake of nostalgia. UPDATE: Sadly, I wasn't able to find it listed anywhere. Bummer. But, thanks for the memory!!

I love Converse sneakers. I would pay $20+ for a like new pair. But I realize you must consider the cost of shipping. I also look for Athleta clothing, The Sak purses, Baggallini bags and backpacks, Longerberger baskets and dishes, maxcera and Temp-tations dishes. Pottery Barn linens (in a set and good condition), sheet sets, blankets, comforters. Also something to keep in mind is Rustic Cuff bracelets...it is an Oklahoma brand and very expensive (check out the shop online). I also like to take damaged, sad wooden furniture and remake it...only if it is really really bad.

Hi Cynthia! I tend to list my items with a Buy it Now price. If I find something really unique, there are no others like it listed or sold on Ebay and I'm not sure what its worth I may list it auction style. Thank you, and thank you so much for watching!😊💕
Thanks for the educational tips. I'd love to find Waterford. It looked as if it had a label. Is that the only way you identify it?getting the nerve to start selling. 🤔
@ThriftingVegas

Hi Nancy! Great question! As a general rule...... Waterford pieces produced before 1947 had the gold and green seahorse emblem sticker. Pieces produced between 1947 and 1999 had the word Waterford etched into the bottom. Pieces produced after 1999 have Waterford's seahorse emblem etched into the bottom. Waterford is crystal, so it will always feel heavy for its size, act like a prism producing a rainbow when held up to the light, and make a chime instead of a dull thud when you tap the edge. I hope this is helpful! Thank you so much for watching! 😊💕

I'm perplexed... You state often how you won't purchase: single plates, bowls, margarita glasses, candle sticks & such...but why not? I am one of MANY clumsy people in this world...some of us would like to make our sets whole again! I also buy single items or incomplete sets of things I like...just because. Is it because it hasn't worked out for you in the past? I'm just curious. You purchased the single salt shaker on the chance someone would purchase it to display hairpins in. I saw so many things I would've purchased that were singles or incomplete sets on your thrifting trip! And the margarita glasses I would purchase in lots of one. People wouldn't have to have tags/identifiers on the stems if all the glasses didn't match or let's say, were unique!
@ThriftingVegas

Hi Linda! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. I definitely pick up single pieces if I feel that they will sell quickly at a price that makes sense for my business. However, I do find that they are generally slower movers in my Ebay store and they are usually on the heavier side, so the cost of a single piece plus the shipping cost often makes the total price cost prohibitive for buyers. I purchased the single salt shaker because it is pink depression glass which is selling really quickly for me at the moment. I so appreciate your questions and thoughts and will keep them in mind when I'm shopping. Thank you so much for watching. 😊💕

God forgive that you would only make $10.00 profit on a piece. Doesn't any profit count??????
