    240v for on site with electric. 12v for the journey then 240v onsite or gas off site note gas. Is a slow process best to use 12v on the journey then gas off grid. Trust me it takes 6-9 hours for the gas to kick in. Its a condescending system on gas. The hotter the compressor the cooler it gets when running on gas.

    you got a realy bad fridge if it takes that long kicking in. mine kicks in and starts to freeze ice compartment in an hour in the middle of summer, 2 hours you 100% got ice cubes . electric is a touch slower than the gas to get going.. 12 volt just keeps it a bit cool. will never freeze the ice compartment on 12 volt, its impossible.

    hEllo @@philldownes8685 is it normal that first the ice compartment will start feeling cold and then the main bridge area or both of them should getting the same amount of cold? I have only tried on 12V and 220V. on 12V It would take about 6hrs minimum for the ice compartment to get cold (not icy) and then slowly slowly the main fridge area will start feeling also cold. Like 12hrs for all the fridge to feel cold, i never managed to leave it on 12V cause in the night it will drain my battery. Is it normal to make so much time on electric? I never managed to make it work on gas , everybody suggest to take it off and turn it upside down for some hours but it is a big project to remove it from the van.

    What do the numbers mean? Does the higher the number mean the colder the fridge? Or do the numbers represent the degrees Celsius it’s set to?

    I don't understand how the fridge can run on gas. Can someone explain it for me please? I'm going desperate. I wanna spend a nice summer going in a caravan but there's so many things to learn. How come the light on that fridge is blinking if it is running on gas then? Or it's not only the gas but in fact electricity as well? How about the safety? Where the burnt fumes goes to? Does it not affect the food inside? thx

    The gas flame heats a narrow tube containing liquid ammonia or similar liquid refrigerant. The tube is part of a sealed system which includes a heat exchanger (wide tube with metal fins) in the back of the fridge. As the refrigerant expands it takes heat which it finds by using the relatively warm air and casing of the fridge/heat exchanger. It is known as adiabatic expansion. A rapid increase in volume where heat is used rather than given out. The flashing light is probably the electric fridge flame igniter auto start which should go off when the gas flame in the fridge lights up. The gas fumes go to the outside of the van and there shouldn't be much percentage carbon monoxide in the air outside. No fumes should come in or affect the food but possibly close the window near the vents at night and or make sure some air comes in through the roof vents or windows away from the fridge or water heater vents. If in doubt use a carbon monoxide indicator strip inside the van.

    if your not on electric then there is 100% blue flame, your just not seeing it. might be bad sight glass.. its the blue flame that does the job, nothing else..

    Hi how do i run fridge on 12v..

  • @philldownes8685

    @philldownes8685

    make sure its 12 volt and that your car has 2 towing plugs. the grey plus is for the fridge and reverse lights... need engine running as it takes a lot of current for the fridge and it only cools a bit... you will not be able to keep it on 12 volt through a summer week as 12 volt not powerful enough plus would not keep car running 24 hours per day. when you switch the car ignition off the 12 volt supply to fridge stops working.

    Is this your fist day? Most fridges are connected via mains and certainly not Gas. So why start your video on Gas. sorry to be critical but speak to the public. They've paid for elecy so why run their gas!!

    its to show people that might not be on electric hook up how to operate on gas.... not every camp site has all the pitches on electric.. loads of caravan club sites dont ... you maybe are travelling a very long way and want to stop in a large car park for the night and run the fridge on gas.....and no you are not correct as 99.9 % of caravans and motor homes are 3 way fridges. what caravan do you have and what fridge, seems like you dont know how its able to run.
