THREE VEHICLE REPAIRS WITH SAME ISSUES! BMW M4 SEIZED RETAINING BOLT?! | Life of a Mobile Mechanic
Hello everyone! I see that you guys have been active on the channel without me posting anything. We really appreciate each and every single one of you. The growth of the channel has been crazy!
Sorry for not posting for almost 2 weeks. The camera that we used to use broke. We tried to record with our phones but unfortunately it kept on bugging out on us so we just compiled what we can.
Hopefully this video doesn't bore you, if it does, I don't blame you haha!
So in this video, as you know is just a compilation of what we managed to salvage but we did a BMW M4 Brake and MOT, Peugeot 107 Wheel Bearing and BMW 116i Clutch and Dual-mass Flywheel replacement.
Well, let me tell you, none of these jobs went well. Seized bolts here, seized rings here etc etc...
I hope that you guys enjoy this video. We have now bought a new Go Pro Hero 12 Black and we have been shooting with it. Future videos will definitely be better than this!
Again, thank you everyone for the growth and also sorry for not posting!
Please like, comment and subscribe to see more contents like this!
Thank you for watching!

Just stumbled across this channel. Great to see someone grafting as you are with a real positive attitude. Well done fella 👍
It's great to see young men grafting and doing well for themselves. So many youngsters nowadays don't know the meaning of hard work and serious grafting. Respect to you guys and you deserve all the luck you will definitely get.

Hi Guys That Peugeot 107 Wheel Bearing job got me remembering way back when I was just starting my diy mechanic journey in 1986 when the front bearing on my 1969 Vauxhall viscount seized and I thought I had the knowledge and tools to do the job on my own, how wrong I was ! Working on the street in the evenings after my day job I got to the point where the bearing just wasn't coming out of the wheel bracket and using all the tricks I had up my sleeve including heat and wd40 couldn't make it budge so I had to trot over to my friendly motor garage chap who put the wheel bracket on his press but still no joy the bearing was literally welded to the axle spindle ! So in the end we had to get Mr AG (angle grinder) to separate the old bearing from axle, that did it but that was a learning curve to remember . Love watching you guys work and your ingenuity getting round problems, but please get in the habit of wearing face protection, eyes are precious and difficult to fix ! and ones lungs don't work properly with tons of shit and dust clogging them up ! Looking forward to seeing you guys tackle a Aston martin some day soon !
107/aygo/c1 wheel bearings 😱! For those bearing types, I find putting it on a pole in a vice then heating the bearing race specifically makes them fall off 😁 saves cutting into the shaft, the circlip is a royal pita on old ones. If you ever have time watch South Main Auto vids, Eric O is a master at dealing with rust and many other things……when he’s not moaning.
Fair play to these guys i wouldn't do a clutch on the floor for diamonds 😂

Done plenty wheel bearings in my 48years as a mechanic and yea some can be proper tight 😩and those circlips OMG I’ve been known to tack a few spots of MIG weld on them something to get a chisel on and the heat from the weld helps too. Great job there lads.

to do wheel bearing in the parking area I used axle stand tube type to support the hub and an old wheel bearing and hit the old one with a sledge hammer many times
I'm in the motorcycle trade thinking about doing some videos myself great Job
You've got to use a impact driver on those retainer screws👍
Love watching your videos man but using that impact gun on the center disk bolts is risky could have probably prevented the strip. Lucky keep up the good work man 💯🔫
Spent 2 hours on the retaining clip on a mk5 gti no matter how much persuasion i used or the size it would not move broke it up mm by mm bearing sailed out and new one in 🤣🤣 broke my hopes and dreams that day.
Use a penetrating spray and a manual impact driver to get the disc retainer bolts moving. Best chance to avoid stripping if they are being difficult.
Welcome back. When you had the front of the car on the ramps you should have turned on the other way then it couldn't have rolled off 😉

Worked in sales , found hub in workshop begging for a stuck bearing removed, no body in workshop so I did as mechanic was missing tooling. Boy they were surprised.
need to get a impact screwdriver always comes in handy with the retaining screws
Copper-slip or Ceramic grease... love your work 🙂
In the future mate when you remove the hub from the bearing and that race gets stuck... as they always do face the studs upwards and the race downwards and Try and put it on some kind of spindle so you can spin it then just heat the race with a normal torch as your spinning the hub and the heat will pop the race off
This is why when I did my wheel bearing, I just bought a new knuckle & wheel hub. The amount of time it would cost to remove properly would be the same. As wheel bearings last 200k miles, I won't be doing this job again!
Iv had no end of problems with rusted retaining clips I weld an old chisel to them and rip them out the heat helps brake them free. You should use the old wheel bearing to push in the new one it help to not damage the new bearing.
I hate those kinda jobs. Did a berlingo ft bearing. Smashed knuckle. Then bought a 2nd hand hub with bearing and abs sensor for 50 quid. And said next time. Breakers yard for 2nd hand one. Easy way out but you know!! If it fixed its fixed haha
Good content man..some polite advice don’t end like me .. use good quality kneeling matt trust me you’ll thank me in years to come ..I paid the price by not doing so 😭

Manual impact driver is the way to go for them. Very unlikely to chew them up but enough to shock them and get them moving.
Halfords do an impact screwdriver that can be a good send for discs
I replaced my clutch on my Triumph Dolomite Sprint on the street. Luckily you could remove the transmission cover inside the car and have someone help lift the gearbox from above.
Wow so the first customer wiht the 1 series is just going to carry on with no 1st gear on his new clutch and flywheel? 😢
could of done that with the abs sensor still in 😅 just needed to be unplugged then do the bearing as normal but push it out with somthing the same size as the small ring of the beaing so it goes past the sensor there for not touching or damaging it but you probably noticed that wile doing it
They’re the worst thing the m sport callipers. And no they’re not the same disc size. They always do usually differ front to rear. The glue is to make sure the pads don’t always keep in contact with the disc and also for no excess movement.
Watch out for the dreaded CV joint splines seized in the drive flange, only had it once on a Ford Orion ( back in the day ), tried everything to get it out pressing and heating, hammering, all sorts, eventually had to scrap the whole hub assembly and got a replacement from the scrap yard...

I had the exact same problem with the circlip being siezed on my aygo. Managed to get a dremal with a cutting disc on it and cut the circlip into pieces then knocked them out with a hammer and chisel
Them Brembo brakes are shocking for squealing low speed… I’m guessing the “shim” is to help prevent this. Try what you like but when resonance stats on them discs notin’ is gonna help.

@simonrawle7885

Try putting a getting you mate to stand on the bar. As you hit the head of the bar with a slege hammer. Socks the nut loose. A big form mat on the wheel to stop damage
As a mechanic (not the armchair sort), with the brake disk retaining bolt the way I do it is to use the impact wrench (as you did), but I put all my body weight through my shoulder behind the impact wrench and press as hard as I can and flick the trigger bit at at a time till it moves, if it doesn't move you will have more chance of snapping the head off the bolt, not good but at least you'll have the disk off and you can deal with the broken bolt...(seems i'd already commented before🤔)
Did you put the faulty gearbox back on that BMW which wouldn't help doing a clutch ?
