I own the m34 F7 watch, bought it in Iran. Still in perfect running condition. Now I can do a little research and hopefully find out what what she is worth now.

How did you grow your portfolio to $55m, I'm impressed, I have a lump sum in the bank, the rates are not impressive so I'm moving it, what's your cash flow like?

finishing made by hand check, inhouse movement check, gorgeous textured dials check, heat blued hands check, nice and solid bracelet check, brand even older than grand seiko check, beautifuk original designs check, super anti refkecting coating on the sapphire crystal check... if there was a Swiss watch brand with those qualities will be maybe twice the price, so why are prople complainign about this high end orient stars if they are completely worth it?

The days of $300 Orient Star's like the Classic model shown in the beginning of the video are coming to an end. That model came out almost 15 yrs ago. Ever since the company fully integrated with Epson in 2017, they updated their movements and began to experiment more with materials and designs. The Orient Star watches being released today are much higher quality and can command a higher price.

You can very easily find the m45 f7 in the 2,200-2,600 range. 4,000 is a massive upcharge, and they are probably doing it because it is limited to 80 pieces. I know for a fact Orient Star was not retailing those for 4,000. They were retailed in the same range as the m34 f8s

These Orient Star watches you showed have the price tag they have because certin parts of them are handmade. That's it.

It's not just that. The second watch for example has a dial featuring a hand carved pattern using Epson's optical multilayer film. All Orient Star watches are assembled by hand. These also use a newer in-house movement with 60/hr power reserve.

I have the contemporary skeleton, in fact I had two, but I didn't pay list for them, I have work connections to Orient and so got a hefty staff discount before Christmas, so I paid £1,100 each for them direct from Orient and then sold one to a watch dealer for £1,950 (list price is £2,760 in the UK). So, effectively I got the one I kept for £250. For that money it's well worth having, but you're right, no way would I actually buy one at the list price. I also have the Orient Star Avant-Garde Skeleton for everyday use, again, bought with a massive discount.

I have always loved orient star designs. Only problem is they are way toosmall for my 6’3l 240 lb with gorilla wrist. Wish they would offer some in larger size. Also the mineral crystal. Edit. It now seems they do offer a few

Great review and great question! I own 5 Orient Stars but like yours, reasonably priced $350-$550, very high quality for the price. I also can't see what other people see to pay $2000 or $3000 for those high end versions. It's a mystery! I think Epson owns Seiko and Orient. They are sister companies.

After further review it seems that Seiko and Epson are the sister companies with Orient coming under Epson. Not that it really matters except I don't think it's accurate to say Seiko watch owns Orient watch.

Interesting video and i am a big Orient Star collector. Just wanted to highligjt one issue and thars the comparison between Tudor and Orient- unlike Tudor, a brand launched by Rolex - Orient was an independent brand until it was acquired by Epson. And your point of here in Asia about buying Orient Star for those who can't afford GS is quite "funny" as we don't only by Japanese brands and also you would be surprised the Orient is more widely distributed in some parts in Europe than in Asia .. FYI, Orient had 3 tiers previously - Orient, Orient Star and Royal Orient (discontinued)

I like orient and i think they are underated and have bad image of poor asian watch for market like filipine or vietnam or india, but the orient watch are good,i worn 3 of them and been always satisfied, now, for 4000$ i prrefere to buy other brand, not seiko, but in secondary market you can find breitling, cartier, omega,a lot or most iconic brand for this budget

Wearing my OS open heart today as a matter of fact. I saw that they had started to up their prices. While I really like my watch, I don't think I would have paid in excess of $1000 usd for it. Definitely wouldn't pay more than 2k

I don’t see the premium features justifying the premium level. Some nice finishing but painted blue screw heads on a $2200 watch that looks $1000 at best. A silicon escape wheel does not justify the premium. This is market based pricing getting what the market will bear. If they make 5000 pieces of a model and sell them all in 9 months they will push the price point with some nice looking features. OST Swiss watches around $1000 will have.

You are 100% right! Orient is to Seiko like Tudor is to Rolex they will never let it go better even if letting them do their own thing. I actually had a chance to take close look at that skeleton and as much as you I dont get those too much, I was impressed how well it is done but paying over 3K for it it isn't my thing. The only skeleton that I would take advantage of is Cimier one. I rally like it. Anything else that looks way better is going to be way more expensive like over 8K expensive (in my opinion of course)

You would be surprised as I have personally seen a few of the models mentioned in the videos with a few enthusiasts here in Singapore. And all Orient Stars are manufactured in Japan only - hence they rarely do multiple production runs as they discontinue their models...and for their high end models - i would be surprised if they even produce 500 units of them.
