We've said it before, and we'll say it again: Breguet is a brand known for its no-nonsense approach to creating true horological wonders for the wrist. But as much as we love Breguet being associated with tradition, being above the hype, and its founder being the greatest watchmaker of all time, we want to have a more casual look at the Breguet of today. Of course Breguet still makes timeless watches in the style of its founder, but there are new dynamics at play within the current collection as well. In fact, we are going to look at three models that showcase this spectrum: the Classique 5157, the Type XX 2067, and the Marine 5517.

i owned 7597 tradition retrograde date, one of my best timepiece i've owned. Breguet just need more love from the watch-world.
The 3 Breguet watches featured actually make up an excellent all Breguet 3-watch collection.
I.have both the older 5817 and the new 5517 Marine. Awesome watches with a great finishing
My personal all-time favourites are the salmon-coloured rose gold dial Type XX references 3820 and 3827.

I'm not sure we can call Breguet the best watchmaker of all time, especially when his contemporaries include John Arnold, but he's certainly better known and publicised than many of the greats. I'm pleased to see the brand that bears his name enjoying a resurgence, and these are solid examples that reflect a long-established aesthetic, and an modern fresh design language.

Would be interesting to have a 'patent off' between Arnold and Breguet - pretty sure Breguet would emerge victorious....

@@Timeandtidewatches He certainly patented a number of inventions - the tourbillon being the obvious one (which he credited Arnold with inventing, although there were a number of watchmakers toying with the idea at the time). We now commonly associate overcoil with Breguet too, which was another Arnold invention. I guess "watchmaker who held some patents" doesn't quite have the same ring to it though.
Breguet has a spectacularly accurate movement with a hovering balance shaft used in only one of their models. It represents advances in stability and functions as a shock absorber always returning the shaft to the correct position. I'd like to see it in their sportier and high water resistant models.
H moser should buy the Breguet brand and take it to new heights .

Working in USD, $22,100 places it as effectively the same retail price as the Rolex 1908 in YG and less than a VC Patrimony ($25,200)

@@Timeandtidewatches yes sure,but also the rolex is too expensive,in secondary market you can find an ulysse nardin portofini 34mm full gold for 6500,a breguet chrono full gold for 17000$ o rolex daydate full gold for 17000$ so...i realy think new price are insane
