The penalty kick rule for that 18:45 situation is a bit gray. Via the official rules Law 14 covers PKs. "...After the players have taken positions in accordance with this Law, the referee signals for the penalty kick to be taken. The player taking the penalty kick must kick the ball forward; backheeling is permitted provided the ball moves forward. The ball is in play when it is kicked and clearly moves..." Sophia didn't 'kick' the ball so it, technically, hadn't entered play but the player 'must' kick the ball on the refs signal. It's probably a good 'no call' from the ref but would be something that would eventually get called if PK takers started using it constantly as a mind game kind of move.

Glad to hear you two chat about how climate change impacts athletics, I know Sam has focused on this in the past. Yay to Lynn for the reusable iced coffee cup and straw situation - Sam get on board and ditch the single-use stuff. Quite the disconnect between words and actions.
