It's a sad story that only a kid survives and everyone dies because of an epidemic. It ends with feeling despair, anger, sadness, etc. when a loved one disappears. It's amazing that you came up with this idea and made an animation.

You can say what you want about the father, but EVERY family member slowly felt themselves drifting apart. The father KNEW it would just be him and his son, who's already going through so much, after the sister died. The sister dying in sadness is a small price to pay for the son's chance at recovery from all this trauma. I know it was an emotion based response, I know that well. But the father, at that point, should have known better.

I’m not a person who cries when it comes to short films. My friend was suggesting short films for me to watch, and I stumbled upon this one and decided to rewatch it for the old memories. I thought it couldn’t be that bad, but it was. What made it worse was the fact the toddler reminded me of my baby brother. I can’t imagine a world where my brother is all alone with nobody to take care of him. I shed actual tears tonight. I promise myself to never leave my brother. No matter what. I love you, baby brother. ❤

This made me cry so bad, it made me realise how *family* is really important and sometimes people have to help others, but they die anyway. I was crying the Earth’s ocean when I saw this.

Rewatching this after so long, I gotta say, people in the comments have a right to be upset with the father, but they shouldn't ignore the fact he was grieving. In the time being, he had lost his wife, and then slowly lost his daughter as well. When he saw she was in pain calling out to him, it seemed like an impulse decision for him to go in and comfort her, ultimately causing him to catch the disease she had, resulting in his death. Now I'm not trying to say that the father was wrong for leaving his son, but I'm also saying he was. Yes he lost his wife, yes he then lost his daughter, yet he still had a son that needed him, a son that didn't understand what was happening, and he left him all alone. Him choosing to comfort his daughter wasn't wrong, yet he also chose to leave his last remaining child all alone. That's not something a child should have to live with, that was his mistake. You don't cling on to something you know you're gonna lose at some point, instead you need to focus on the things you have left. Now what do I personally think? Well I definitely think he shouldn't have left his son like that, he was the only family the son had left. I'm not ignoring the fact that he was in grief, nor that he was doing the best he could, but all I'm saying is he shouldn't have left his son all alone in the world. No kid should have to be left alone like that, it's heartbreaking to see the daughter slowly die in pain, yet he still had his son, so in summary, I would say the dads actions were reckless and rash. He left his son, the one thing he had left, was that really not enough for him to think and *not* ultimately die with his daughter? I guess that's what happens when you let your emotions get to you.

@@lowkie78I don't know myself if the kid was given new parents, that seems like the most logical thing that should happen afterwards But in the end scene the kid is seen back at home all alone, so I'm not sure myself. However the disease isn't a metaphor, I'm not sure what it's called? But it's very much real, and it killed both his wife and daughter. So it doesn't appear to be a metaphor? Unless that's what the animator was trying to convey thennn, I don't know-

@@skylovessans Yes that's why I'm asking, he seems to be represented alone to mean that he lost everything but it's a bit surprising. To me it seemed like a metaphor, because I don't know of any known fatal disease where the person has cracks on their body as if they were made of porcelain. This may be a made up disease in this world, but I don't know why they wouldn't take a real disease in this case. Often, the cracks in films are associated with something breaking inside oneself more and more deeply as unfortunate events happen in life.

During the whole film he's been thinking of his wife. His daughter looked a lot like his wife and I think it was one of the resons he came to her when she was dying: he wanted to be there for his daughter, the one that looked so much like the love of his life. I think he wasn't able to be there for his wife when she was dying (possibly from the same illness) and that made him want to at least be there for his daughter, knowing he'll never see her again. Being so desperate and helpless he even forgot about his son. That's so touching and sad, I'm so sorry for the little boy..

I cried when I was a kid, but it was only because of the last scene...That doll did nothing wrong 😭

I haven't watched this in so long and still regret it now, but this is a core memory and it has stuck with me through the years. When I first watched this I cried the ending was really sad, and here I am now. I didn't cry this time, but I still really find the ending sad. I'm just glad I can think back to this and remember that day.

When I was about six I watched this and obviously cried. I am now eleven. I thought whatever happened in this short could actually happen irl. I was scared i believed in mostly everything as a younger kid, I thought that my skin could actually crack into pieces. I may not know what this relates to. Cancer, sickness, all I know is that it’s a battle. And the fact that her father went in there by her side to comfort her before she passes in that hospital bed represents how a fathers, mothers love can affect things. Wonderful short ❤

It's strange how most of us have the same feeling after seeing this short film years ago Cause I too cried so much after seeing this so loong ago

I saw this when I was like 5 or 6 and I cried my eyes out it was actually super traumatic for me 😭 but it still, hits the same after all these years, and I gained a new understanding after covid hit.

People who is hating on the father probably hasn't lost a wife nor having a sick daughter. The little cat might feel abandoned. But hatred? If he's got the love for his family he won't be that way. He's pitiful, but doesn't mean the rest of his family are less pitiful than him. People suffer differently.

Perhaps the child actually felt that way but only because he was a little too young to understand. I mean what would you know at such a very young age. But then again the father had been through a lot, you can't really blame him. It's not like he deliberately did the things he did to hurt his child, he merely reacted and he didnt know it was causing his child to feel abandoned.

This is very sad, it made me cry when I was 6 years old. It felt like a punch right in the chest, me and my family are suffering through hard stuff since my dad is in jail. I have a stepdad now, my mom is sick and I’m struggling to breathe during night. God bless everyone of those souls🕊

I, like many others, was a little kid when I saw this. I'd rewatch it multiple times and felt immense sadness towards it. I don't remember if I cried. Now, I'm 16, and found the video once again completely by chance. It activated a memory. A memory of pure anguish. I like, but also hate, how the story ends on a sad note. It shows that not everything turns out good. But god, I was always so terrified, thinking what ever could've happened to the little cat. I wasn't sure why in the past, but now I know that it's the fact he doesn't have anyone to take care of him. So how will he survive? It's just a horrific thought for me...

I watched this when I was younger and cried my heart out, 10 years later I bawled my eyes out again

I remember crying over this when I was a little kid. I'm 15 now and relate to it more than ever. It's like pressing on a bruise. It hurts but I can't resist watching it again after everything that has been happening in my life.

Just an random theory but, what if the doll was behind the girl's sickness? It's also has a possibility that the mother might've died by the same sickness. Which leads to the doll being "drowned" in the bowl by the boy. This theory may not be true but it's something that came to mind while I was watching this. 🤷‍♀️

@@user-cu3bp1ig6c maybe because he always took care and holded the doll...and so, maybe the doll is some cursed object when if you dont take care or like something similar to of the doll, it’ll cause the sickness on you just like the boy’s sister and dad (and possibly the mom as well)

I remember seeing this years ago and thinking that's so sad....but watching it again, I'm kinda mad at the dad....like, I know his daughter was really ill and he wanted to comfort her before she died, and he was also still grieving the loss of his wife....but he had another kid who also needed him. And he knew how infectious her disease was, so him leaving the kid to expose himself to the disease, thereby essentially orphaning his only remaining child kinda stings.

My theory The first scene it shows funeral with a picture of a cat woman. I suppose it was the mother of the family and she passed away for unknown reason. The second scene shows the sister cat starting to cough. It means there must have something like disease or virus got into her and she's dying. The sister cat got quarantine to avoid other person got infected by the virus (or they knew that the virus can't be treated, so they decide to left her die alone instead) The third scene shows that the sister cat were inside a room alone. Just like I said on the second scene, the sister cat is dying. The monitor beeps makes the father cat panic, but no matter how much he call out for help... nobody came (maybe the doctors ignore him purposely cause they know they can't do anything about it). The father knows the sister cat is dying, but the sister cat begs for his father's help (or maybe the sister cat unaware of her virus, so she cried to her father about her pain) (or maybe the sister cat begs for him to not leave her behind) which made the father cat lose his control of not going into the room, made himself got the virus like his daughter, leaving his youngest son behind. At the last scene, the little cat sits alone in the kitchen that were once filled with the happiness of his family. Rethink about everything that happened to him- His mother passed away, his sister passed away, his father... Rather got himself dying than staying with him to alive together got him filled with hatred. The pure naivety mind inside him were gone. Grabbing the doll he plays through his childhood, he "killed" it due to his hatred toward his family. He realize, that he don't need his family to be with in his side.... Not anymore. Sorry for my bad English, I'm still improving! Also this is just a theory of mine so feel free to share your opinions in the replies XD

i dont think people realize how the dad felt. he lost his wife and was about to loose his daughter. he couldn't live in that kind of world. he didn't want his daughter to die alone.

The father’s not wrong for going with his instincts and comforting his poor little girl, but…what about his son. There wasn’t anyone else around that he could go to… How’d he make it home alone? What’s he gonna do? Will the poor boy pass away from starvation or dehydration because he’s too little to reach anything? How’s he gonna survive alone? Who’s gonna raise him? I’m starting to wipe tears off my screen because of this. I knew what would happen, I’ve seen it years ago, and here I am. Watching it again…. That poor little kitty boy

I'm back again, and I'm watching it with tears in the size of oceans, while in childhood puddles..

When I was younger I watched this. I remember crying a lot. It was indeed a sad story.

The first time I saw this mini story I cried my eyes out, now that I'm older I thought I wouldn't cry and that I would get over it But it wasn't like that...

the only part that made me go ''bruh'' was when the kitten shoved her toy into the food bowl-(im crying)

Everyone: boo hoo this is so sad, ending is sooo confusing even though its like the kitten goes insane ;( ;( ;( Me: WHY THE HELL ARE NO DOCTORS AT THE AREA IN THE SISTER AND DAD'S DEATH HOSPITAL SCENE??? I watched his short film when i was 6. I cried my innocent eyes so much for this because the boy was left alone and his mother, sister, father died, and i used to be so angry at the father for leaving that little boy alone, (im still angry at the father tho☺) keep in the mind, THE BOY WAS THE YOUNGEST AND WAS LEFT ALONE, AND ALSO THERE WAS NO ONE TO TAKE CARE OF HIM. I was so frustrated and sad at that time. The fact that they left the boy at such a young age alone and the father ran to the sister without even hesistating or thinking who would take care of the boy was fricking messed up. I know his daughter was dying but how about the son? I feel so bad at the little boy because he was the youngest and no one is there for him. Still this short film never fails to make me cry, sad,frustrated and just a roller coaster of emotions happening to me.I cried so much to this when i first watched this video (i was 6 years old). And now here i am again 6 years later still crying at this short awesome film.

i used to watch this all the time when i was little because i really liked sad things and horror things so i watched this on repeat every day

Ah, Bro... I didn't lose anyone (thankfully! I feel very happy and grateful to have loved ones in my life.) But I totally feel the anguish of the pain of this animation. I can imagine what it's like to go through that and feel the extreme pain and abandonment, as if everything has gone to rock bottom and there's nothing left for you, it's a horrible feeling...
