Y'know, nobody talks about it, but I really appreciate Sothis's response. Maybe it's because those are words I need to hear a lot, but I really loved hearing "If you must weep, then weep. I shall be here for you." It was calming. The students are very kind, and gatekeeper still hurts my heart, but Sothis's response will always hold a place on my heart, as I've been the speaker and receiver of those words. They're so important to hear. "I'm here for you."

Cyril praying for Jeralt brings a tear to my eye because it's clearly stated that he doesn't follow the Serois religion. He doesn't even believe in the goddess yet he's praying for Jeralt to find peace in the afterlife. That's heartwarming. Also that one NPC student that's like "CaN wE sTiLl GrAdUaTe?!" Bruh my father just died geez.

It's a sweet gesture. I suspect Rhea taught it to him to cope with being an orphan. I can't blame the kid, honestly. Jeralt's death is hugely personal for you, but for most of the students, it's one more tragedy on top of a roller-coaster of a year.

I like how you input Felix's "He died like a true knight" quote. For anyone who doesn't know, Felix quoted his father when when his older brother, Glenn, died.

Ingrid's really made me tear up. She sounds so much quieter and smaller than her usual self.

Yknow... The more i look over all of this, the more I realize that... Leonie's B support is kinda accurate. You can see in her grieving that she's really upset. She knows that it's harder for Byleth in that moment... But Byleth's stoic nature can be hard to read. And sometimes, when someome close to us dies, seeing someone else close to them not take it the same can be angering. Was it right? No, no it's not. But it is human and understandable. Grief clouded her judgement. She apologized in her A support. After the fact, she realized she messed up. And if I remember right, the A support takes place after the timeskip. Imagine thinking someone was gone for good, and you'd never been able to say sorry for the way you'd treated them. That must have been a heavy toll. Despite all her Jeralting, I like Leonie.

Some characters give condolences, others sympathy, and some even give understanding or help to grieve. Dimitri promises to help with revenge, which is in character for him. What I wasn't expecting was for Lorenz to do the same, though. It gives an interesting insight into his character

For me it was six hours earlier, for the rest of the game I couldn't think anything good of Leonie. Even now, I've been struggling to look past that shit tier support, it would really help if her post timeskip victory quote wasn't "For Jeralt", or at least make it rare to hear. Viewing any other Leonie support she has helps, but it's still hard

Leonie should have had that b supp before jeralt's death and a b+ after, apologizing and being super supportive like she is in the monastery. I don't know why they did that to leonie, it's so out of character....

You can really see it during the exploration of the monastery she says: 'he is gone we had just met and he is really gone, oh I'm sorry professor I know this is harder for you it's that I just can't...' it's not exactly like this but really similar. That's why I'm saying this b support should have been before jeralt's death not after when it makes no sense for her to be acting like that...

Student: Professor, do you think we'll still be able to graduate? Me on my second playthrough: Yeeeeah, about that.

I swear, some of these reactions are exactly how I'd expect the voice actors to react to Billy Kametz's passing. RIP Billy, you will forever be missed. You were Ferdinand Von Aegir, the noblest among nobles!

God, some of the non named npcs really hit hard. Abysskeeper, the soldiers in mourning talking about how they were just with him and hearing how he talked about you. Sharing a drink with him or a meal or training with him. And then Gatekeeper's sobs. The pain in some of their voices was just. It broke me man

Even with this being my first fire emblem game, I saw jeralt’s death a mile away. Yet it still made me sad to see it happen. And it made me even sadder seeing everyone’s reaction with broken routine. I haven’t gone through every route in the game yet, but at the moment this is probably my favorite part in the game along side the ending to crimson flower

It's amazing how authentic many of these are, usually games/animu has like complete over or underreactions but in a lot of these you can tell the character is kind of unsure how to approach the situation while keeping in character. Devout offer up a prayer, loners/intelligent types speak of how to proceed, etc

She has a complete disregard as to what Byleth could be feeling, berating him for grieving and then saying some nonsense about 'reaching out for her hand'. And then there's the monastery dialogue..

People talk about the bad placement of Leonie's B support more because both the placement and the support were garbage. At least Edelgard's intentions were there, just not the execution. I do agree with you about how Edelgard's words irked you because they bother me too considering she should know better than anyone who Byleth feels considering her family also died an unjustified death. However, Leonie's support is made ENTIRELY to berate Byleth and accuse him or her of "not appreciating" Jeralt enough. I can't spin that into something positive no matter what I do.

The way I see it, Edelgard's support is just her being herself. She has dealt with a lot of loss in the past, and she has hardened herself into someone who just keeps moving forward no matter the sacrifice (or so she likes to think). Since she wasn't that close to Jeralt, she isn't grieving the same way Byleth is, and she gets a little impatient on how long it takes for him/her to bounce back.

SPOILERS Edelgards reaction is so fucked when you realise she planted Kronya in the monastery in the first place. Obviously she didn’t tell her to kill Jeralt but she’s an unintentional conspirator as she did give TWSITD the means to do what they did.

2 years late but Edelgard didnt plant Kronya, TWSITD did. Edelgard may have been aware of her identity, but she didnt plant her.

@@patrickstanley1723I highly doubt that she knew that Jeralt was gonna die. From her perspective they have no real concrete reason to target him. And even afterwards, the entire force of the knights were looking for her and she can even participate in killing her. You can’t really place any blame on her for this, especially when it seemed like Kronya was kinda acting on her own here.

As a Leonie fan, I hate that most people seriously reduced her character to that B support/instances with Jeralt talk (in general) and refused to learn more about her. She's great, man... She's cool and lovable just like all the other characters. Anyway, rest well, papa Jeralt.

Honestly, I blame the game developers for making that B support unlockable immediately after Jeralt's death. Thankfully for me, I unlocked the support with her a short while after Jeralt's death. But when I knew that her B support unlocks immediately after his death, I was truly disappointed. What were they thinking anyway? 🤨

I was guilty of this. I benched her early on in my first GD run even before the B support thing, but felt bad and restarted halfway... She really is great and I love her as much as the others now. I just pretend the B support happened before Jeralt's death.

I legit though Felix was going to say that in game, and only thought of my Byleth just casually smiling at mealtime with Felix with his favorite food only to pick it up from him and chuck it into the fish pond

I was so destroyed after Jeralt's death, that i stand still holding the joy cons for for almost 10 minutes, even if i already knew about his death because of a stupid spoiler. Really liked the guy. And also very irritated because i was so sad that in my head i was like "JUST GO BACK IN TIME AGAIN USSELESS GREEN GIRL" " GO BACK FURTHER IN TIME , THAT SHOULD WORK" I know that in real lore the time travel must not work the same as in battle, but you cant blame a guy for trying.

Sothis in this game is only 20 years old in regards to linear time. Which is why afair according to the game files, her physical recorded age is only 9. It's probably more apt to say that she is a direct reincarnation of the original eon-persisting/timeless progenitor god. I'm sure that the original Sothis had reality warping time manipulation powers and likely some form of omniscience (which begs the question as to how or why Nemesis even managed to fell her, but that's for theory crafting). So it only makes sense that her actual manipulation of time in the game is pretty much limited to the constraints of Divine Pulse. She's not fully grown yet and probably might never fully realize her original power due to the fact that she merged with a mortal. (Unless her soul still ages normally regardless, but who am I to say?)

Everyone else’s lines didn’t get me- they hurt or made me laugh but the gatekeeper sobbing had me in tears
