Three "Go-To" Lighting Set-ups That Never Fail: OnSet with Daniel Norton
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Join Daniel Norton OnSet as he shows you the three lighting set-ups every photographer should know. Even When working with a variety of clients, a photographer need not memorize endless lighting layouts to accommodate the diverse looks and needs of clients.
While we strive to create unique lighting for each subject, these three “go-to” lighting scenarios will create great images no matter the need or subject.
We will talk about lighting patterns in this seminar, not the gear, so these techniques can be used with virtually any lighting kit you bring to the project.

Oh man Marissa is back. Can't get enough of her. Thanks again Daniel!
Love her smiles and positivity
She is amazing!
This is how tutorials should be 👍Education with humour, beauty and fun in a relaxed atmosphere. Great work again from the Dream Team. Thank you 👏
Marisa is beautiful as never!
Marissa, Seth and Daniel N. What a team! Thank you as always.
The 'A' Team are back in town, you guys complement each other perfectly. Great tutorial btw.
The dynamic duo... killing it every time.
Love the vibe with you and Marissa
Fantastic. Even though you have brilliantly covered these approaches before I find it super helpful whenever you revisit setups it not only helps drive things home and clarify, but you always come up with additional thoughts, reasonings and angles on the how and whys. Fabulous to learn from the master and particularly for me in my small space its great to feel assured of the techniques Im using as I continue my journey!
She is pretty!!! and she looks amazing in that dress!!
Bravo, Marissa! You rock!

OMG... and the Great D. Norton is in this the video as well, executing another Master Class vid.
THANKS DANIEL. THIS SET UP GIVES ME A ‘WORRY FREE’ START OF A SHOOT. 👍👍👍
He too has such a humble confident approach
Thanks Daniel, Marissa, and Seth. A good demo
Legend has it that there was a photographer in the studio with Marissa during this recording 😍😍😍
Thanks Daniel for this demonstration, it’s nice to be reminded of these lighting setups every now and then It’s fun to watch bubbly Marissa in your videos Now I have to restrain myself from ordering those lights and soft boxes 😄

Thanks for the tutorial. Really helpful👌. Keeping making such awesome stuff in such a cool way .
Thanks for this. Really educational and easy to digest.
Long hair, profoto, 70-200, short dress pretty model three lights set up... Adorama rocks!)
I’ve only watched until 6:47 wondering when it would start… so I checked the comments… everyone likes it. I say from experience, if you’re willing to sit through an extended intro and still like it… I‘ll love it! Edit: Totally worth it! So incredibly down to earth, practical, and educational! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, Marissa is beautiful
Wow Daniel at 37:46 that is a truly BAD picture of Marisa. LOL As always thanks for your channel
Awesome stuff thanks
Amazing 😍

It is pretty great!
not sure how I missed this one!! but amazing video as usual.. I agree you should have an adorama in Europe (I am moving there soon :) )
Great job..
Hmm. Marissa has a bad side? 🤣 Hey, great video, thank you guys. I particularly liked the Profile part of the shoot. Key Light > Marissa > Hair Light all in a 7' scene. Now that's a small home studio!
"I had a preset and then i deleted it... not on purpose." I love Daniel's videos. So relatable.

Never to forget the Voice of the WIZARD Seth coming from somewhere in our head! They all come to see the wizard.
Excellent info my friend! What specific color # savage background paper did you use? thanks much for sharing!
Hello ..! Do you think that the dynamic range is better in Nikons Z6 II and Z7 II , compered with Canon R6 and R5 ..? Thanks . Regards .
Really enjoy your videos so educational I can't stop watching them I do have a question though why when you take portrait photos do you always or very frequently cut off the top of people's heads?
Oh wow its great seeing how a hair light makes such a difference! By the way Daniel Norton in your opinion what was the reason the octabanks were created since there were the 2' X 3' already? Thanks for always make such great videos full of great information Sir!

The round(ish) shape of the octa allows for more wrap-around
How come the dove gray background looks gray in the video feed but cool gray/blue in the photos?
Is there a set time when these live streams happen? I only ever catch the recordings. Also, Marissa is the most lively model I've ever seen in any photography videos, I love it.
Super content! But I don't get how the light of the window/curtain get blocked or is barely visable in the photo's, probably a noob question, but hey you gotta learn somewhere.
I am so confused at 13:15. He shoots no flash front and only flash at rear but is able to recover all the details at the front by increasing exposure to 4 and basically a perfect image with no noise. I have a Canon EOS R6, a great camera and when ever upping my exposure, i see noise. I can't even get close to exposure 4.00. What am I doing wrong?
Was that the Z 70-200 Daniel was using?

Hello!
Nice tutorial. I only have LED lights, but I can still apply all tips to those. Aren't her shoes too big?
A giant light behind the photographer is a very 90s thing? Hmm... I use a giant 12x16 foot white wall behind me as my fill. It's usually metered at f/2 to f/2.8 at the subject, then the main light is f/5.6 to f/8. I probably wouldn't use it as a main light, but as a fill it is quite lovely.
Wher can we see some of Dave’s work?
I have a weird question well I think its weird. What type of focus point are you using? ( auto focus, pin point, area focus) Or does it matter.

I’m using wide area with eye recognition- but for a portrait really any should be fine
If you have a black studio and therefore your lights need more power can you charge more?

Good point!
Please switch roles for one shoot. Marisa looks amazing as always but she is asking great questions during shoots and having Joe mentor her in shooting him could be fun and instructive
Hi Daniel. I don't have any questions, but I have thoughts & concerns. 😎
I personally prefer savage thunder grey.
@alexanderpons9246
2 жыл бұрын
Yes Thunder Grey is a versatile background, although sometimes I experienced that if the background is few shades lighter one can make it darker.
@DanielNortonPhotographer
2 жыл бұрын
That’s the advanced grey for sure
@AdrianBacon
2 жыл бұрын
@@alexanderpons9246 I generally light so my background is 3-4 stops below what I'm exposing the subject for. With thunder grey, that renders it a light black which makes it easy to then light a gradient on it or put a little halo of light around the subject. I mostly shoot headshots so I really only have two background looks, dark with the thunder grey or a nice crisp white.

What's the deal with thumbnails featuring a model who isn't in the video?
I think you chose the wrong model for this she keeps stealing the show, man she's an entertainer of her own

Or the right model 🤔
Why are you cutting off the top of her head on every shot? Is that something you always do?
@DanielNorton -> min 12.53 onwards could be a nice Instagram short ; as always awesome content
Que mulher linda.
