Hi Missy, I am enjoying your videos very much. I've recently manifested an opportunity to ride 2 older horses for feeding and cleaning. (My husband thinks I'm crazy...."you're cleaning horse crap for free?!" Ha ha! ) I thought this would be an excellent way to reintroduce myself to being around horses and be able to develop a relationship with them. (t's been over 30 years since I've rode and worked with a horse. I'm so much more aware of my mortality at 52 :) not to mention my ignorance. I was lost on the best way to start working with them. So I've been watching many videos from different trainers. Your videos were the answer. The wholistic joining, 3 foundations & 5 fundamentals are wonderful. Having these tools has given me more confidence. I will start using them this morning!

Missy, quick question: I sometimes use treats as positive reinforcement (only with horses who are already respectful and understand food boundaries). I wonder if the action of them eating the treat is the same as when we poke their tongue to invoke the 'lick and chew'. Thoughts? I love your training and would be very interested in your take on this. Many thanks, Cait

I love your videos. My question is when I’m working on backing her up, I can’t get her to stand still. She keeps just walking right in front of me. She does not mind being close to me lol. How do I get the distance to work on back.

I'm glad that my methods resonate with you. The saying "he who moves the other's feet first is in control" means you must maintain control of your horse's feet at all times in order to maintain your herd leadership. Your horse is genetically wired to require a herd leader at all times, so if she comes into you when you haven't asked, back her up. Control her feet by continuing to jiggle the lead rope making her back-up. If you have to do it several times until she "gets it" that she's not to walk into you unless you ask. CONSISTENCY is KEY, PATIENCE always.......... Hope this helps. If you'd like further consultation I recommend registering on my website at www.missywryn.com/shop?category=Consult. Thank YOU

+Sharon Stillman Hi Sharon - thank you for your inquiry. I so wish I had a student in Australia I could refer you to, but I'm working feverishly to recruit and train like minded people to fill this gap. If you know of anyone interested in going through my long distance certification program please share this link site.missywryn.com/Certified_Horse_Trainer.html. In the meantime hopefully someone that is a gentle trainer/like minded person may see this post and contact you. Wishing you all the best. Missy

I'm trying to teach my horse to walk backwards cause she doesn't know personal space, I'm trying to do what you teach but every time I wave the rope around she just stands there or moves to the side 😩 she is 2.
