They weren't underappreciated. You're just another idiot that has to try and a way to use rhe pretext "under." They were extraordinarily popular and successful and, thus, as a result, very appreciated. Run along.

Saw them around this time, at CNE Stadium in Toronto, my first "big" concert. Blew my adolescent mind with their polished act and brilliant vocals. Stage went dark to start, quiet clear chords started, still dark, is there something wrong, chords continue, then from somewhere near the back, a pin spot hit the face of Chuck Negron perfectly, and he started, "One is loneliest number that you'll ever do." When the first three part vocal started, bam, full concert lighting and huge perfect sound. They're in tuxedos with top hats and all. Just fantastic!

My sister says one of her favorite memories of when we're young, was as I was coming home from school or any other time's was, she could hear Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple blasting from my 6 speakers!! I had a canary yellow with black racing stripes '67' fastback Mustang. It's awesome how we can hear this music and it takes us back to a place and time when we were younger. Such great time's back then, I think we had the best music in that Era!! 😉👍

I never really paid much attention to these guys. I liked the songs that were in rotation on the radio. I just thought of them as a singles band, which they were to a degree. I came across a live at the forum album from 69’ and it blew my mind. Not sure if they used the same guys in the studio, but they put together a seriously kick ass live band. Great dynamics throughout the sets, but the energy on some of those jams are crazy intense. Must’ve been wild in that room

Its always been those three on every song as far as I know. My brother took me to see them at the queen mary parking lot in long beach when I was twelve. Outstanding is an understatement. Absolutely phenomenal in every way. I got the chance to play with them a couple of times and my future keyboardist played with them for 2 years. Thousands of shows later and 1 of them gone. Still touring, fricken amazing. Dont know if Chuck Negron is with them, he left them a long time ago. Peace brother.

We had a set in studio / theatre that I worked in the 70's and still do. They could have been custom made but my bet is Ludwig made them.
