Three Days by the Thames at Hampton Wick (4K)
Three days spent along the Thames staying for two nights at Fuller's White Hart Hotel at Hampton Wick #sponsored to stay in one of the 'Beautiful Bedrooms'.
We start with a walk along the Thames Path from Richmond to Hampton Wick, passing by Ham House and Eel Pie Island. After a night at the Fuller's White Hart (and a couple of pints of London Pride) I continue along the Thames Path to Hampton Court Palace then cross the river to East Moseley. The final day of the escape by the Thames after another night at the White Hart is a walk through Bushy Park.

Overall top guy
Thank you for the beautiful memory of my 37 years of married life in hampton wick
Your enthusiasm in this video is infectious. And the menu wasn’t laminated. Classy!
Being London born and bred and an expatriate for forty years, discovering your accomplished body of work has been both sadly nostalgic and rewarding. Worth noting is Londoners' passionate conservancy of their green spaces. I originally hail from Barnet and have walked Hadley since childhood; and now watching your Hampton Wick video where I lived across the road from Bushy Park in the '80's it is as though I never left. This is strangely very reassuring to me.
What have you done, John, to deserve being pampered like that ??...he-he.
You're living my life John. Thames Path. Sponsored stay in a Posh Pub. London Pride. Other than me, there's nobody deserves it more than you mate. Thanks for another great film.
Thanks John. Another great walk...with Beer ..what else could a walker want. Fame at last..

Thanks James - I thought I was in walkers' heaven
Love what you said about school trips. The first and only time I visited Hampton Court was on just such a trip over 50 years ago. I expect it cost a lot less than £23.70 then. With prices like that, I wonder If school trips are viable at all nowadays. It has gradually crept up on us, this squeezing every penny out of every situation, and making everything unaffordable. Grrrr. I remember when you could catch a Salters Steamer from Oxford to London, stay at swanky hotels, meet Agatha Christie, eat fish and chips in Henley and still have change from half a crown.
The river, the palace, the park, the hotel - what a treat. Thanks for sharing.
I wish I had known John, I live up the road in Hampton and would have popped over to say hallo and buy you a beer.

I don't think he was in need of anyone buying him a beer by the look of it. He could have given you one or two on the house.
i don't know why, but it makes me happy seeing you happy - especially at that hotel! the trifecta of good food, bed, and drinks!
As children we used to swim across the river to Twickenham swimming pool.
Nice video John. Nice to see other people doing things for someone like you.

So soothing. I visited Hampton Court Palace last year and took the boat back to Richmond. Great experience. Now I can experience it again even back home in the Netherlands during semi lockdown. Many thanks.

Played my first gig in the White Hart in 1997 when I was in sixth form. Can't remember anything about it except trying to split 30-odd quid from the door, four ways
Your films are lovely and very interesting John! Are you walking on your own always? I do walk with my partner, occasionally on my own and I don't like to walk alone 😣 We are watching all your videos, well done ! This weekend I will finish my 1500 miles target for this year ,so happy 👣👣

Well done on the 1500 miles Ka - great achievement. I do enjoy walking alone, gives me time to think. But also enjoy company too - did two walks this week with other people and it was great
We need a whole series of pub/hotel walks!
At least you visited my favourite area John! I made this wonderful walk more than thousand times I think. Lovely

I got the impression, John, that you were chuffed with the hotel room!
Eel Pie Island is worth a visit next time you’re in the region. As I recall a lot of it is private. Still, It’s got a very special vibe. The Rolling Stones played there to crush crowds early in their career and so many other rock artists of the era, Rod Stewart, the Yardbirds, Joe Cocker, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, and the Who to name some played there when they were fresh and new.

Thanks for that Eric, would definitely like to go back for a look at Eel Pie Island, saw the documentary on the BBC recently, really brought its musical heritage to life

Best video yet, for me. I was born and lived in Petersham. I walked this trail many times to Hampton.
Took this exact path some 15 yrs ago. Thanks for bringing back the memories, John.
When I saw it was a sponsored post, I didn't think I would enjoy it, but I really did. Ha - "Follow the Pint" - you're about to start a new trend, John (and I'm not telling my husband).

Staggered home from twickenham/richmond on that path back to Ham on many a drunken night! Reason why the path stays on that side of the river I imagine is simply down to the fact there houses backing on to the river the other. I do miss living there.
Looks like a ton of fun.

This is my favourite video of yours. One reason is l lived in Molesey for many years and the other is the White Hart holds a special place in my heart.

What a wonderful treat for you & also allowing us to enjoy your pleasure!!
What a fantastic video. I have been to Hampton Court many times and it was fantastic as always with you sharing your incredible knowledge. Incidentally I worked at a care home down at West Molesey known as The Summers a beautiful care home. This has got to be the most memorable videos I have ever seen and one which has been the most enjoyable too. I used to take both the 111 to Hampton Court and then wait for the not so regular 411 to West Molesey. Nevertheless I was amazed at the the whole experience and your room was literally wow beyond the word. As I love cycling so much I have twisted your words and I now designed my own logo which reads "JOIN ME ON MY NEXT BIKE RIDE WHEREVER THAT MAY BE". Love you John and I look forward to seeing you wherever that may be.
I am now booked to stay a night at the White Hart Hotel next year , thanks for your review

John Rogers bubble bath would’ve been overflowing if I’d had a bath there😜. I watched a documentary about Dave Gilmour and he was inside the floating studio, so good to se it in situ.
For those who maybe interested the book Somnium is by Steve Moore probably better known as a writer for comics and not Johannes Kepler who also wrote a book with the same title (latin for The Dream).
So enjoyable
Excellent 🥰

Hi David - congratulations for getting off the pills that's a fantastic achievement, keep it up, I have huge admiration for someone who can get through an experience like that. Are you in any kind of 12-step fellowship programme? I've got friends who swear by it as being great for getting through those difficult moments. My Mum was in a care home with dementia so I massively appreciate the valuable work you do there. All the best to you and your wife.
I can't think of anyone who is more deserving of this pinch of luxury! Just walking to Waltham Abbey as we speak.
Love your suite.

I love riding my bicycle from Farnborough, down the Basingstoke Canal to Byfleet where it meets the River Wey, into Weighbridge on to the River Thames and towards Hampton Ct. Never been any further cause to turn around and ride back is 54 miles and the return ride is mainly uphill! 😅
Flipping heck. In your last video at Kingston - where you filmed the hotel/pub you're staying in - I commented on youtube that you should visit the pubs with Ian and Nick. Was I, by any chance, instrumental in getting you this lovely gig. If so, good on you and mine's a pint.
