Best part is always when you see Dave finding it funnier than the audience.

Chris Elliot was Letterman's Letterman.
The Long Hot Summer promo has been tattooed on my brain for 35 years. Pure gold.

I literally thought that is what the world called 1985's summer, then after seeing this I realized this is where I got it from!
The ongoing Stevie Nicks bit was such classic Dave. Thanks for this!

Stevie Nicks on "wall street week." That show brings back memories. I loved that show.
This was a great assembly of clips. I so enjoyed it. Thank you Don.
80s letterman is a riot and I’ve always enjoyed Chris Elliott’s idiocy.
These were the episodes I remember in college--inventive, subversive, and funny as heck.
That’s the loudest I’ve ever heard Dave laugh.
Don, you're the best brother. I remember staying up from midnight to 1am to watch this shenanigans---and not regretting any part but the commercials---the real ones that is, not the ones Dave was ribbing. It probably seems sophomoric to many, but for me the joke never got old---and *STILL* doesn't.
"Spotting for Juice Newton on the rings."
I love these older episodes, thanks for posting them.
Impossible for me to hear the song without hearing Dave's voice in my head "Stevie Nicks, asking the musical question "I Can't Wait?'"
Hey Don, I really appreciate that you're helping me catch up with a lot of stuff I missed back in the day (I was a pretty avid watcher of LNWDL but there were definitely gaps). As a side note, I bet if one could get a hold of one of those Late Night Stevie Nicks jackets & if signed by both David Letterman and Stevie Nicks - that would be worth a FORTUNE (on eBay or formal auction)!
Thanks so much for these! I forgot how good Chris Elliot was on Letterman back in the day!
Thank you for putting this together. This is the best video quality I have come across regarding Letterman and Stevie over Weasel Management. LOL
Don, you're the best. Thank you.
Sophisticated silliness 😁
You are the best. Thank you
Awesome that this has finally been reconstructed. Would make a great episode for the history channel. :)
Thanks Don, have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks! And the same.
Fantastic idea for a collection Don.
I swear, I don't think Dave ever rehearsed with the guy. It just looked like Dave wanted to see what Chris would come up with and be surprised on air with it.
So TV was actually good once upon a time. I miss those days.
NBC Letterman is the best Letterman, or even the best late night shows ever.
The case of the too hot curlers. I love it!
Love love LOVE running gags!
The man knows how to play the long game.
this is brilliant
Happy Thanksgiving to Don and all my fellow Late Night fans
Stevie Nicks asking the musical question "I can't wait?" 😂
Dare I ask for a Johnny Graham collection?
Hey, Don! Here's an idea for a compilation I'd love to see - a collection of Dave really losing it laughing. Man, some of my favorite clips are from hosts like Craig Ferguson genuinely laughing his butt off. Got any of Dave really letting loose?

Best Dave laugh ever.
Holy shit, Chris Elliott as the Goddess of love... "It stinks in here"....LMAO!!!
RIP Weasel Management
I love chris Elliott. and his KZread algy has me right in its crosshairs. And I like it
Hey Don it is obvious that you are the expert in all things Letterman. Can you point me to a video of him (letterman) saying "help me help me I've been hypmotized" ?

Nice bonus Phil Collins appearance.
Don I've been desperately trying to figure out a brief moment from the show and if anyone would recognize it, it's you. Basically I walked into the room mid-show and Dave was telling Paul about an upcoming non-celebrity guest and asks him "Can you guess what she did?" And Paul replies "She drove a truck of pies..." to which the audience bursts out laughing and Dave starts giggling and saying "No no no" or something like that before moving on. Obviously I missed something prior to it on the show and it's always bugged me that I never knew the context. Felt like I was hearing half of a great joke. Such is the angst of modern man. To this day when someone asks me a question along those lines that I don't know the answer to I'll say "They drove a truck of pies...?" Any thoughts? Thanks for all you do.

No idea, sorry. It could have been Paul simply delivering a non-sequitur, which caught Dave so off-guard that he couldn’t help but laugh. That’s my first impression. I could certainly be wrong about that, though.
Thanks, Don. I enjoy Chris Elliot's work with Dave. When you get a chance, could you please provide a link to Elvis Week?
@dongiller
4 жыл бұрын
There is no link. Elvis Week was a week of repeats starting on Monday, August 15, 1988. The shows repeated were: July 24, 1986; May 20, 1987; January 8, 1986; February 11, 1988; and October 9, 1987. The only new material were the taped intros to each show.

Don Giller Thanks for the reply, Don. Correct me if I am wrong, but there was an Elvis Week in the late 2000s, right?

Ah, Late Show. Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, the week of February 4, 2013: Cody Ray Slaughter, Brandon Bennet, Justin Shandor, Shawn Kluth, and Ben Portsmouth. I’m hesitant preparing a compilation; the songs may be blocked, or worse, taken down. I don’t want to risk that while I still have one copyright strike that’s due to expire in two months.

Phil Collins reaction shots is so fucking funny
@3:05 Wow, look at that phone. My neck wishes we still had those.
Before the "Streisand effect" there was the "Stevie Nicks effect".
A little quick trip down memory lane… That reminds me of a time back I guess it was the 80s when the song was a hit, a local rock 'n roll station in LA decided to have "Jump Day!" This was a situation where they played the song, "Jump" by Van Halen many, many, many times throughout the day to where I think they would play either back to back or they'd interject one song and then play Jump again. And here's the funny thing: I was right there with it! I remember even jumping in the living room playing it through the speakers after hearing it the 10th time. It truly is one of the greatest rock 'n roll songs of all time and one of those rare tunes that indeed, never gets old!

The repeated video clips definitely foreshadowed internet meme gifs.
They should have dressed Chris up as Stevie Nicks for the last video clip.😀 EDIT: Oops, I spoke too soon!
You can gauge the level of Dave's annoyance by how many times he tightens the telephone
Another "coincidence" just occurred. EXACTLY when Paul said and really emphasized the word FORM while saying "It's a FORM", I was reading the word "form" in the definition of the term "green strength" in a different browser.

have you ever been reading something whilst listening to something else and have the feeling that a word is about to coincide just before it happens? happened often enough to me. freaky. anyway, peace.
I actually watched a bit of "Goddess of Love" out of morbid curiosity when it aired. It was about as bad as you'd imagine it would be.

They had been predicting an Ice Age up until, which was still our fault, so when it never came, they went to the Greenhouse Effect and The Ozone Layer... all our fault, of course, which can only be fixed with a CBDC so they can tax us before we even get our portion of "their" money. It's all scams. Fun Fact: Did you know Al Gore's Carbon Credit Company is called Blood and Gore? Look it up.
