I've restored a very bad copy of this movie to HD B/W and used that restoration to colourise the movie at 01:19:48.
"Three Broadway Girls" (AKA The Greeks Had a Word for Them) 1932, ex-showgirls Polaire (Madge Evans), Schatze (Joan Blondell), and Jean (Ina Claire) navigate romantic entanglements and schemes. Jean, a gold digger, pursues pianist Boris (Lowell Sherman), causing heartbreak and betrayal. Polaire, hurt by Boris and Dey (David Manners), ends up hospitalized. Dey realizes his love for Polaire and reconciles with her. Jean, attempting to sabotage Polaire's meeting with Dey's father, is exposed. On Jean's wedding day to Justin, she chooses freedom over fortune, sneaking away with Polaire and Schatze. Dey follows Polaire onto an ocean liner, where they reunite and plan to marry.
I downloaded the film from the Archive. I used AI facial enhancement, upscaled both the original and colourised versions to HD from very low resolution and sharpening, decreased the saturation and colourised it using AVCLabs and RTX4090 with a Ryzen9 CPU and 64GB RAM. I then stitched it all together using iMovie.
This work is in the public domain because it was published in the United States between 1929 and 1963, and although there may or may not have been a copyright notice, the copyright was not renewed.
