Suggestion. Notice that when you part off a piece of the threaded portion it flies off and ends up on the floor when it breaks free. Now you have to search for it and bend down to pick it up. My suggestion is that you mount a drill chuck into your tail stock into which you have a drill, 1/4" or 3/8" diameter. Actual size is not important. Place your tail stock such that the drill bit extends into the PVC piece which you are about to part off about 1". Now when it breaks off it can't fly off onto the floor but is caught by the drill bit for easy retrieval. Peter Toch

Plumbing fittings are a tapered thread to be watertight when assembled with a compound. Those conduit electrical fittings are a parallel thread as it is only a mechanical joint for a pipe to box / cabinet. Regards from Australia.

@@theangrywoodturner9972 If you dig a bit deeper into the boxes at the home depo or wherever in the electrical section you should be able to find in plastic and perhaps even in brass, locking rings for the conduit fittings. They are usually round with a course grip on the outside for tightening. Very useful for the epoxy to get a hold when you fit them. No machining involved as they are 3 or 4 threads thick. What you have bought are the male and female conduit fittings so that the pipe can be attached to a box or whatever, using either locking rings or male bushings. It may even pay you to use the bushes as they are just a thread with a thin head on, so less machining and cheaper. Best Wishes.

From the Confused Woodturner to the Angry Woodturner, please don't get angry but, why wouldn't you just learn to chase threads by hand? You could have finished two urns and lids in the time this video took. It is far easier than you think and 100 X more satisfying AND you don't have plastic fouling up your whole shop. As the Dutch woodturner, Ronald Kanne says, threading is zen.

P.s. I would like to see you do 2 urns with threaded lids in 15 minutes that would be impressive 😊
